The cooking process in a clay pot imparts a unique aroma and texture to the rice, often resulting in a desirable crispy bottom layer.
Based on the available customer reviews, MrBoBo & Thumbs-UP seems to offer a positive dining experience for many patrons. One reviewer specifically enjoyed the taro rice casserole and the grass carp casserole. They particularly praised the crispy layer of the rice casserole, highlighting it as their favorite part. However, they noted that the grass carp casserole was a bit too oily for their personal preference, indicating a potential variation in the richness of their dishes.

The strong recommendation from this reviewer suggests that the dishes at MrBoBo & Thumbs-UP are well-prepared and flavorful, catering to different palates, including vegetarian options.
An interesting point mentioned in the positive review is the small team operating the restaurant, with reportedly only one person managing the front of the house and one chef in the kitchen. I had the taro rice casserole and the grass carp casserole, and they were honestly pretty good. My favorite part was the crispy layer of the rice casserole, it’s so good! However the grass carp was a bit too oily for my taste.
My family and I initially found this place through a YouTuber and decided to check it out. First off, the atmosphere felt very cozy. The tables, chairs, decoration, plates, etc were all very nice and cultural. Next, oh my God the service is welcoming yet fast and efficient. Our server was such a sweetheart. She answered all our questions and helped me find some vegetarian friendly dishes. We've been there multiple times and every single time she recognizes us and remembers what dishes we enjoy. Last but not least, the food is amazing. Their clay pot rice is prepared fresh everyday and has so much flavor. The tofu casserole is made with silky egg tofu with a fried exterior skin. The brown sauce was savory yet light. HIGHLY recommend. If you're ever in the area, please try this place!!! They're so underrated and deserve to be discovered by the world. It's so impressive that the front of house is run by one person and the kitchen has only one chef!! We absolutely love this place and will be back very soon!
Both dishes are delicious. Clay pot rice is a must-have, especially for its crispy rice! For $10 dollars, I don’t think you can get anything better than this
One of the many restaurants in Murray Hill, Flushing. It’s not a very well known one but the food is legit. Portion is smaller but it’s priced right. It’s worth trying at least once to see if it’s for you or not.
If you like stone bowl rice or want to try Cantonese cuisine, I highly recommend this place. My friends and I all ordered different dishes, and I particularly liked the pork belly my friend chose more than the Cantonese sausage I got. I def plan to return in the future to explore more of the stone bowl rice options. The prices are very reasonable, making it a great value overall.
