About Mr You Chinese Food

Mr You Chinese Food, situated at 363 S River Ave in Holland, Michigan, operates as a Chinese restaurant that appears to offer a somewhat diverse menu, extending beyond traditional Chinese-American fare to include items like pho noodle soup. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Mr You aims to serve the local community with a range of Asian-inspired dishes.

Typically, a Chinese restaurant's menu features a variety of options, including appetizers, soups, fried rice and noodle dishes, and a selection of entrees featuring different meats and vegetables. However, the inclusion of pho noodle soup suggests that Mr You might cater to a broader range of Asian culinary preferences, possibly indicating a fusion or a wider selection than a standard Chinese-American restaurant. The specific menu and the quality of its execution are crucial in defining the dining experience.

Based on the provided customer reviews, the environment of Mr You Chinese Food seems to be quite basic. One reviewer described "the place itself is pretty bare bones, and it’s in a gas station." This suggests a no-frills setting, likely prioritizing functionality and convenience over elaborate decor. The location within a gas station might be a significant factor in the overall ambiance, potentially appealing to those looking for a quick and convenient meal rather than a formal dining experience. However, another reviewer did not comment on the environment, focusing instead on the food quality of a specific dish.

In terms of services, Mr You Chinese Food offers both takeout and dine-in options, as one reviewer "dropped by for lunch." The first reviewer ordered a combination plate, implying that combo meals are available. The service seems to be relatively quick, as the lunch order was placed and presumably received without significant delay. Payment methods are not mentioned in the reviews, so it is unclear whether they accept credit cards or are a cash-only establishment. The staff interactions are also not detailed in the provided feedback.

The features of Mr You Chinese Food, as indicated by the customer reviews, present a stark contrast depending on the dish ordered. One reviewer had a severely negative experience with the General Tso combination plate, stating, "Honestly, I'd avoid at all costs." Their primary complaint was the complete lack of meat in the dish, which they described as "all fried breading." They emphasized, "THERE WAS LITERALLY NO CHICKEN AT ALL. IT WAS ALSO SOGGY AND OLD." While they found the noodles to be "fine," the rice was "a little burned," and the main entree lacked any substance. This reviewer felt it was not a good value and regretted their choice, even mentioning photographic evidence of the lack of chicken. This feedback raises serious concerns about the quality and preparation of at least one of their Chinese-American dishes.

Conversely, the second reviewer had a positive experience with the pho noodle soup, describing it as "great" with "very tender" meat. They also appreciated the flavor balance, noting "just the right amount of herbal and spicy notes" from the added sides. This suggests that their Vietnamese offerings, such as pho, might be of a higher quality than some of their Chinese-American dishes. The price of the pho was noted as "higher than I expected, but pretty standard for pho these days (about $14)," indicating that while the quality was good, the price point might be something to consider for budget-conscious diners.

The significant discrepancy in the quality between the General Tso chicken and the pho is a key feature of Mr You Chinese Food based on these reviews. It suggests that the restaurant might have strengths in certain types of Asian cuisine while falling short in others. Potential customers might need to be selective in their ordering based on these varied experiences.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Mr You Chinese Food based on the provided reviews. Local restaurants often utilize various promotional strategies to attract customers, such as lunch specials, combination deals, or discounts on certain menu items. To find out if Mr You is currently offering any promotions, it would be best to contact them directly using the provided phone numbers: (616) 796-9984 or +1 616-796-9984, or by visiting their location at 363 S River Ave, Holland, MI 49423.

In conclusion, Mr You Chinese Food in Holland, MI, offers a somewhat unconventional setup within a gas station and a menu that includes both Chinese-American dishes and Vietnamese pho. Customer experiences appear to vary significantly depending on the dish ordered. While the pho received positive feedback for its taste and tender meat, the General Tso chicken was described as overwhelmingly breaded with no meat, soggy, and old, leading to a highly negative review. Potential customers might want to consider these contrasting experiences when deciding to dine at Mr You. Those specifically looking for pho on the west side of Holland may find it a worthwhile option, while those craving traditional Chinese-American dishes might want to inquire further about the quality and preparation of specific items before ordering. For the most current information on their menu, hours of operation, payment methods, and any ongoing promotions, contacting the restaurant directly is recommended.

Honestly, I'd avoid at all costs. No meat! And I'm no Karen - there was literally no meat - it was all fried breading. It's not a value or worthwhile at all. I ordered the General Tso combination plate and while there was a large amount of good, it was ALL BREADING.... THERE WAS LITERALLY NO CHICKEN AT ALL. IT WAS ALSO SOGGY AND OLD. The noodles were fine but the rice was a little burned, but there is no substance to the main entree. I really wish I had gone somewhere else. My photos can show how thin the chicken is - which is nothing but breading.

I dropped by for lunch and ordered the pho noodle soup. The place itself is pretty bare bones, and it’s in a gas station, but I can’t fault the food. The pho tasted great, and the meat was very tender. All of the sides added to the flavor, and there was just the right amount of herbal and spicy notes. The price was higher than I expected, but pretty standard for pho these days (about $14). Overall, I’m glad to find a place to order pho on this side of Holland, and I’ll have to try their other options at some point.

Delicious food and HUGE portions! The combo can easily be shared by two to three people. I love the bourbon chicken!

It's hit and miss. Sometimes it's really good and deserves a 5☆, but then the next time, it is really dry, hard, and overcooked. It's almost too hard to eat sometimes.. it is like eating tasty wood fibers. You can chew and chew and can't break it up to swallow. Sometimes the employees are very nice and some days its like they really dont want to be there. It might be the times of day I go. It's better, I think, at the dinner hours, but after the dinner hour and go, you get the dried out, overcooked, leftovers. The last time I went, the bowl meal cost about 10.00, but it was dry and hard, and much was inedible. So some days I would give it a 5☆, other days barely a 2☆. And I even question if the orange chicken has even got chicken in it. It looks more like chicken fat and skin, and almost all breading.... Next time you go, give your review! Hopefully, they will do better as more people review them.

The food was tasty and for the price which wasn't bad for two combos. I would come here again even if you had to wait a little for the food to come out. They have a drive thru as well. Customer service is good.
