About Mr Holy Gao
Mr Holy Gao is presented as a Chinese Restaurant that, according to one reviewer, offers authentic Northern Chinese and Sichuan cuisine. This suggests a focus on regional Chinese specialties that might differ from more commonly found Cantonese or other styles.
Environment: Specific details about the restaurant's ambiance and decor in Singapore are not available in the provided reviews. One review mentions a search for "Ma-dasao" leading to Mr Holy Gao, implying a possible rebranding or online listing discrepancy, which doesn't directly describe the physical environment.
Services: One positive review commends the staff as "super friendly" and notes "large portions of food for the price." However, another review details an uncomfortable experience with the payment process, where the waitress was reportedly reluctant to release the electronic payment device, making it awkward to input tips and personal information. This suggests potential inconsistencies in service style. The same negative review also mentioned slow service after a change in ownership.
Features: A key feature highlighted by a positive review is the authenticity of the Northern Chinese and Sichuan dishes, with the reviewer expressing enjoyment of "the taste from home." In contrast, a negative review described the Hainanese chicken rice as unusually yellow, the garlic shrimp as overly salty, and the noodle bowl as just "ok," indicating potential issues with food quality and consistency after a change in ownership. The restaurant reportedly serves large portions for the price.
Based on the limited and contrasting online feedback, Mr Holy Gao appears to offer Northern Chinese and Sichuan cuisine, with one reviewer finding it authentic and well-portioned with friendly service. However, another review suggests a decline in food quality and service after a change in ownership, citing issues with specific dishes and an awkward payment experience. The discrepancy in reviews makes it challenging to form a definitive overall picture.
Promotional Information: No specific promotional information for Mr Holy Gao in Singapore is available within the provided reviews. Customer Reviews
Searched for Ma-dasao but come to a link called Mr Holy Gao. The restaurant owner must not want reviews. The rating is more like 2.5 Came here because it is close to work. Owner changed and food went south. My friend’s Hainanese chicken rice was too yellow. Was it dyed. Garlic shrimp was too salty. The chef must have a heavy hand on salt. Noodle bowl was ok. When we pay the bill, the waitress won’t let go of the handle electronic device. It was so awkward and inconvenient to input tips and personal information for the receipt. Let go! I won’t take the device home. Probably won’t come here too often.
Authentic northern Chinese food! Loved it and I'll definitely go there again if I'm ever back in San Diego! The staff was super friendly and large portion of food for the price. I saw a horrible rating saying the food is bad compared to China Town and I what kind of restaurants they went to. I guess they either went to the non authentic ones or the ones doing other styles of Chinese food. To me the Sichuan dishes and there northern dishes I got were pretty authentic. Enjoyed the taste from home overall.
I came here after a long day of work. I ordered the wontons in spicy chili sauce and beef fried rice. Now I rather enjoyed the spicy wontons and I also liked the lettuce garnish they added to it. Most spicy wontons I’ve had never had that but I like it. It’s nice to have a crunch for added texture. Also I added the sauce from the wontons to the fried rice because it was a bit dry. Made it 3x better. The beef fried rice is quite good and I enjoyed this place. Now the spicy wontons weren’t that spicy so I asked for my chili oil on the side. It was way better in my opinion but my spicy tolerance is way higher than most so don’t overdue it folks. Play it safe and work your way up to the heat. The staff were pretty friendly and I can’t wait to come back and try more.
We were there for lunch today and quite surprised at the portions of each dish for $7.99 lunch deals. Literally, you can have three people share two orders if not one. Busy during lunch hour so there's a bit of wait time. After we ordered, the food did come fairly quickly. The shrimps are huge, fresh. Most dishes taste like home cook meals rather than restaurant food. They do not skimp on the ingredients. This is the freshest value meals I've tasted in a very long time. Must try.
The owner and staff are fun and friendly. The menu here offers many hard to find and unique dishes. If you like spicy food, there are a lot of options for you here, too. The food here is well prepared and very flavorful. This is not a greasy Chinese fast food restaurant. This is a sit-down restaurant that offers great dishes.
