My husband and I really enjoyed our experience. We are celebrating our 4 year wedding anniversary and I'm so glad we decided to come here to celebrate. I was blown away by how delicious the food was. Also, the portions are bigger than I expected. Even though they were short staffed, the waitress was very kind and made sure we were cared for, despite the situation. I definitely recommend the sweet and sour chicken and the chicken lettuce wraps. We will definitely be coming back here soon, without a special occasion!
We went for an early New Year's Eve dinner. Everything was delicious! A little expensive, but the experience is worth it!
I hate to leave this review because Mr. Han’s is an institution here, but I think I won’t be able to go there on a holiday again. They are known for being open on Thanksgiving and Christmas and are a popular spot for people who need/want to do something different than cook at home on those days, so one would think that they’d be equipped to handle the traffic on these days after so many years. We made a reservation for 7 people at 6pm and were warned upon arriving that it would take a long time for us to get a table. Turns out one opened up right away. Ok. Water was served and appetizer orders were in within a timely manner. Then it was all down hill. At 2 hours at 15 minutes in at our table we called it and had them pack the orders they were in the process of cooking to go, and asked them not to bother making some of our dishes that they hadn’t started yet because we were just ready to get home and chill. Food came out very slowly and in a haphazard order. For example: appetizers making it out 1 hr into the meal, rice that is served with a dish coming out half an hour after the dish arrived. Mistakes made with the food that did make it to the table. What we did eat was very good as usual. Sadly, I was warned that I might have an experience like this by a friend who was there on Thanksgiving. Other tables in there tonight were having similar issues. We sat for very long stretches of time with dirty plates and no one visiting our table, so that made it hard to check on the status of things. If we were able to communicate more as we went along we probably would have figured out how to wrap things up and get more things to go sooner. Sad. I’ll probably go there still with small groups and on a non-significant day. I don’t think I can trust the place for a holiday situation going forward.
Probably hadn't been to Mr. Han in 2 decades. Why did I wait so long. Was in Gainesville Saturday night. Stopped in as soon as they were open, without a reservation. Still, was greeted warmly and given a good table with a nice view. The waitress was attentive and offered suggestions. I started with one of Mr. Han's signature cocktails. I followed up with 2 Cantonese egg rolls and I had forgotten just how delicious they are. My waitress suggested the Chongqing Spicy Chicken. I would never have ordered this dish on my own. Yet it was delicious and one order is big enough for two people. Atmosphere is elegant and the service matches.
I am gradually reducing my visits to Mr. Han's, as I feel that the food is not as good as it used to be. This time, I ordered takeout, and found plastic in the Pupu tray appetizer. Moreover, due to excessively high frying temperatures, the foam container partially melted !! and the food stuck to it !! which poses a serious health risk! The beef with onions was overcooked, it tasted burnt. The quality of the other dishes also seemed to have deteriorated significantly.
