About Mr. Dumpling
Welcome to Mr. Dumpling, a Chinese restaurant situated at 5470 Apex Peakway in Apex, North Carolina (NC 27502), USA. As a Chinese restaurant serving the Apex community, Mr. Dumpling offers a variety of Chinese culinary options. They can be contacted at (919) 387-7709 or their mobile number +1 919-387-7709 for inquiries and to place orders.
When considering a dining experience, the restaurant's environment plays a role. The provided information does not offer specific details about the interior décor or ambiance of Mr. Dumpling. Typically, Chinese restaurants aim to create a comfortable and inviting setting for their guests. However, without direct descriptions, it is difficult to characterize the specific atmosphere you might encounter at Mr. Dumpling. Potential customers may wish to inquire directly or look for publicly available images to get a sense of the restaurant's physical space.
In terms of services, Mr. Dumpling appears to offer both takeout and delivery options. One customer specifically mentioned placing a takeout order and enjoying most of their meal. Another customer detailed a Grubhub delivery order. This indicates that Mr. Dumpling caters to customers who prefer to dine at home or elsewhere. It is reasonable to assume that they also offer dine-in service for those who wish to eat at the restaurant location. To confirm the full range of their services, including any specific delivery areas or in-house dining availability and hours, it would be best to contact them directly.
The culinary features of Mr. Dumpling are highlighted in the customer reviews, which present a somewhat mixed perspective. One customer who ordered takeout for the first time reported enjoying several dishes. They found the mixed dumplings to be "very good" and worth the extra charge for being pan-fried. The sesame chicken was described as "very good" and sweet but not overly so, and the fried rice was noted as "tasty." However, this customer found the chicken lo mein to be their least favorite, describing it as less flavorful compared to other local Chinese restaurants, though still "good." This suggests that some dishes at Mr. Dumpling may be stronger in flavor and quality than others.
In contrast, another customer who placed a Grubhub order had a significantly negative experience. They reported that the fried rice was actually "brown sticky rice" and that the sesame chicken was "gummy" with "tough" chicken. The Dan Dan noodles were described as "bland" and poorly packaged, making them difficult to eat. The lo mein was also said to have "almost no flavor." The only positive comment from this reviewer was about the green beans. This feedback raises concerns about the consistency and quality of some of Mr. Dumpling's dishes, particularly for delivery orders.
A notable feature mentioned by the second reviewer was their request for chili oil, a common condiment in some regions. They were informed that they would have to pay for it on future orders, which they perceived as a "cheap, somewhat rude business practice," especially given their $100 order. This suggests a potentially rigid policy regarding condiments and a focus on charging for extras, which may not align with all customers' expectations.
Considering these reviews, the food quality and consistency at Mr. Dumpling appear to be variable. While some dishes, like the pan-fried mixed dumplings and sesame chicken (in one instance), received positive feedback, others, such as the fried rice, sesame chicken (in another instance), Dan Dan noodles, and lo mein, were described as bland or poorly prepared. The experience seems to differ significantly between these two customers, highlighting a potential lack of consistency in their offerings.
As for promotional information, none is explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. It is common for restaurants to have special offers, lunch menus, or discounts to attract customers. To learn about any current promotions at Mr. Dumpling, it would be advisable to check their website if they have one, or to contact them directly via phone. They might also advertise deals on third-party delivery platforms like Grubhub or other social media channels.
In conclusion, Mr. Dumpling in Apex, NC, presents a mixed picture based on the available customer reviews. While one customer enjoyed several of their dishes, particularly the dumplings and sesame chicken, another reported a very negative experience with multiple items ordered for delivery. This suggests that the quality and flavor of their food may not be consistently high across all dishes or service types. Potential customers should weigh these contrasting experiences when considering Mr. Dumpling. If you decide to try them, it might be prudent to start with dishes that have received positive feedback, such as the dumplings, and be mindful of potential inconsistencies, especially with delivery orders. Inquiring about their current menu and any promotions might also be beneficial.
To help you make an informed decision about Mr. Dumpling:
- Consider trying their pan-fried mixed dumplings, which received positive mention.
- Be aware of the potential for inconsistencies in food quality, particularly with delivery orders, based on the reviews.
- If you have specific condiment preferences, such as chili oil, be sure to inquire about their policy and any associated charges.

Ordered takeout for the first time and enjoyed our meal! The mixed dumplings were very good and worth the slight up charge for them to be pan fried. The sesame chicken was also very good and sweet but not overly sweet. The fried rice was tasty! The chicken lo mein was my least favorite dish we ordered but it was still good just not as flavorful compared to other Chinese restaurants I’ve been to in the area.
I placed a Grubhub order. Asked for fried rice with the sesame chicken, it’s just brown sticky rice. Sesame chicken is gummy and chicken is tough. The Dan Dan noodles are bland and packaged with the meat and sauce at the bottom. Very difficult to stir and eat and the noodles on top?? They are plain with no flavor. Lo Mein had almost no flavor. Green beans were good. The best part? I asked for added chili oil in the notes because I’m from NJ and this is how we get it there. Never paid for it, you just ask at the counter and they put it in your bag….on my receipt there’s a note that “next time I want chili oil I have to pay.” There won’t be a next time. The food is not even worth it, and especially not with cheap, somewhat rude business practices. Save your money ($100 Grubhub order for crappy food) and go elsewhere.
If you're looking for a cozy spot to satisfy your dumpling cravings, Mr. Dumpling is a must-visit! The menu is packed with a great variety of dumplings, all expertly prepared with fresh ingredients. Whether you opt for classic pork and chive or something more adventurous, like their spicy beef dumplings, you're in for a treat. The dumplings are always perfectly steamed or pan-fried to crispy perfection, and the flavors are bold and savory. The service is friendly and attentive, making for a comfortable dining experience. The atmosphere is casual, but the food is top-notch—ideal for a quick bite or a relaxed meal with friends. Don’t miss out on their dipping sauces, which complement the dumplings beautifully. Overall, Mr. Dumpling delivers a fantastic, flavorful experience that will leave you craving more. Highly recommended!
Dined in with family. No frill Chinese restaurant and the food delivered to our table so quickly. Reasonably priced menu items with good selection of food items. Steamed dumplings are fresh and delicious. Overall a good place to try Chinese cuisine.
The food taste great, spicy right on spot. Was told they hired experienced Chinese chiefs from New York. The inside of restaurant is a little bit small but they also has outdoor dining area. Their food comes out fast. The portion of dishes is quite large compared to other local Sichuan restaurants. They use fresh ingredients for dishes and dumplings, you can even see employee making dumplings sometimes. Might be busy in weekends but worth a try. Update for dumping: if you want to know what north China dumplings especially ShanDong dumplings taste like, this is the place you can’t miss. Was expecting flavors from the skin, but they don’t have flavor at all, so the taste of the dumplings is original as the stuffing taste like.
