About Mr. Champion

Welcome to Mr. Champion, a Chinese restaurant located at 168 Las Tunas Dr #107 in Arcadia, California. As a part of the diverse culinary scene in the Chinese Restaurant category, Mr. Champion has garnered attention for its focus on fresh, authentic flavors and specialty dishes like steamed noodles, congee, and particularly, its highly praised steamed rice rolls. This introduction aims to provide local users with a detailed overview of the environment, services, features, and any mentions of value or quality based on available customer reviews.

Based on customer feedback, the environment at Mr. Champion is noted to have "limited space," which suggests that the restaurant might be on the smaller side and can get crowded, potentially leading to a wait for a table. This is an important consideration for potential diners, especially during peak hours. However, the focus on the authenticity and quality of the food seems to outweigh this limitation for many patrons.

The service at Mr. Champion is not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews. However, the positive comments about the food and the intention of a reviewer to return to try other dishes imply a satisfactory level of service that supports a positive dining experience. Efficient service would be crucial, especially given the limited space and potential for wait times, to ensure a smooth flow of customers.

A prominent feature of Mr. Champion is its specialization in certain dishes, particularly steamed noodles and congee, which are described as "fresh tasting" and "authentic." One reviewer specifically enjoyed the steamed noodles with both shrimp and beef, noting that while both were good, the shrimp version was better. The addition of vegetables and eggs to the steamed noodles further suggests a customizable and wholesome offering. The 1000-year-old egg and pork congee also received positive feedback for its authenticity, indicating a commitment to traditional Chinese flavors and preparations. Congee, a type of rice porridge, is a staple in many Asian cuisines and is often enjoyed for its comforting and nourishing qualities.

Another standout feature of Mr. Champion, based on a glowing review, is its steamed rice rolls (cheong fun). One customer declared them "absolutely delicious—hands down the best in LA!" This is a significant endorsement, suggesting that this particular dish is a must-try for anyone visiting Mr. Champion. Steamed rice rolls are a delicate and flavorful Cantonese dish, and to be considered the best in a city known for its diverse Chinese food scene speaks volumes about the quality and preparation at Mr. Champion.

Regarding portion sizes, one reviewer noted that while the steamed rice rolls were incredibly delicious, the portion size was "quite small" and that ordering two rolls would likely be necessary to feel full. This is an important piece of information for potential diners to consider when planning their meal and budget. While the quality might be exceptional, the quantity might require ordering multiple servings, especially for those with a larger appetite.

In terms of pricing, the reviews do not provide specific details. However, the focus on fresh, authentic ingredients and the high praise for the quality of dishes like the steamed rice rolls often correlate with reasonable pricing for the value offered. Local users might find the prices to be competitive for the quality of Cantonese cuisine and specialty items provided, especially considering the positive remarks about authenticity and taste.

For local users in Arcadia and the surrounding areas looking for a Chinese restaurant that specializes in fresh, authentic dishes, particularly steamed noodles, congee, and exceptional steamed rice rolls, Mr. Champion presents a compelling option. The positive reviews highlight the fresh taste of the noodles, the authenticity of the congee, and the unparalleled quality of the steamed rice rolls, even if the portion size of the latter is noted to be small. The limited space and potential for wait times are factors to consider when planning a visit.

No specific promotional information was available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in any current specials or promotions at Mr. Champion would need to contact the restaurant directly at (626) 538-4938 or +1 626-538-4938. Inquiring about daily specials or any combination deals involving their specialty dishes might provide additional value for potential diners.

To experience the fresh and authentic flavors of Mr. Champion, local residents can visit their location at 168 Las Tunas Dr #107, Arcadia, CA 91007, USA. Given the enthusiastic reviews for their steamed noodles, congee, and especially their steamed rice rolls, Mr. Champion is a promising destination for those seeking a genuine taste of Cantonese cuisine in the Arcadia area. Be mindful of the limited space and potential for waits, and consider ordering accordingly based on the portion sizes.

In conclusion, Mr. Champion in Arcadia stands out as a Chinese restaurant specializing in fresh and authentic Cantonese dishes, with steamed noodles and congee receiving positive mentions. However, the true highlight appears to be their steamed rice rolls, which one reviewer boldly declared as the best in Los Angeles. While the portion size of the rice rolls might be small and the restaurant space limited, the emphasis on quality and authentic flavors makes Mr. Champion a noteworthy destination for local users seeking a genuine Cantonese culinary experience, particularly those eager to try their acclaimed steamed rice rolls.

Fresh tasting steamed noodles. Had the shrimp and the beef. Both with veggie and eggs added. Both were good but shrimp was better. Also had 1000 year old egg and pork congee. Feels authentic. Would come back to try other dishes. Space is limited so expect some wait

The steam rice rolls were absolutely delicious—hands down the best in LA! However, the portion size was quite small. Would definitely need to order 2 rolls to feel full.

Nestled in its modest space, Mr. Champion invites patrons to savor the essence of Cantonese cuisine with a menu that may be succinct but is rich in authentic flavors. The small size of the restaurant doesn't hinder its service; on the contrary, the staff's attentiveness adds to the overall dining experience. During our visit, we sampled the BBQ pork rice roll and the fried rice noodle with shredded pork. The culinary magic unfolded as each bite revealed a symphony of flavors, highlighting the skillful use of the wok, resulting in that coveted wok hei essence. The dishes were not only delicious but also a testament to the restaurant's dedication to maintaining the true spirit of Cantonese cooking. The rice rolls, while undoubtedly tasty, did leave us wanting more due to their petite portions. However, the quality of the ingredients and the expert execution compensated for the size. It's worth noting that Mr. Champion is an excellent choice for those seeking an authentic Cantonese breakfast or lunch experience. The simplicity of the menu ensures a focus on quality, making it a haven for aficionados of comforting Cantonese cuisine.

Went on a Saturday noon and it was pretty empty. The rich noodle roll was smooth and tasted good. It was made in a traditional way but the soy sauce is a bit too sweet. The congee with pork liver was below average since the way they cooked the liver made it hard to chew, and not flavourful inside. The fried rice noodle with beef lost its authenticity in this restaurant, cannot feel the hard work they put into it to make it good. It was nothing like what it should be. The 4 stars are for the rice noodle roll mainly. The price is very affordable but it cannot compensate for the disappointing congee and fried noodle.

I was born and raised in Guangzhou, personally, I think this is the rice roller that’s closest to what I had when I grew up, taste and texture wise. I always order two plates of pork rice rollers. I can imagine if I live around the area, I would come daily for it.
