About Moon Palace Cantonese Cuisine
Moon Palace Cantonese Cuisine, situated at Atrium on Bay, 40 Dundas St W in downtown Toronto, offers a selection of Cantonese dishes. As a Chinese restaurant, it provides a dining experience that has garnered mixed but generally positive feedback from local patrons.
Customers have noted the decent overall quality of the food and service, expressing intentions to return. The flavors are often described as "spot on," contributing to an enjoyable dining experience. One reviewer who visited for dinner enjoyed a set menu with additional items, highlighting the steamed scallops for their taste, though noting they appeared small compared to those in a noodle dish. The Typhoon Style Lobster was mentioned, with the observation that it lacked the traditional tiny fried fish, which some feel alters the dish.
Moon Palace is also recognized as "one of the better dim sum spots in Downtown Toronto." While the selection of dim sum items is considered "relatively limited," the food itself is described as "clean, tasty, and well seasoned." However, one diner was surprised to find that congee was sold out during their visit. It's suggested that Moon Palace is a good place to dine with a group, as the portion sizes are reported to be quite large, making sharing a practical approach.
Regarding the ambiance, at least one review indicates that the "actual space and ambiance leaves much to be desired." In terms of service, feedback suggests some inconsistency. While one server was praised for being "very attentive," the manager was perceived as less friendly. This aligns with other comments hinting at potentially inconsistent service levels.
If you are in downtown Toronto and looking for Cantonese cuisine, particularly dim sum, Moon Palace Cantonese Cuisine might be worth considering. Located in the Atrium on Bay, it offers flavorful dishes, though be aware that the dim sum selection may be limited and the ambiance may not be the restaurant's strongest suit. Overall food and service is decent, will definitely come back. The flavours were spot on, the experience was enjoyable, we came here for dinner and ordered one of their set menu with a few add ons. The steamed scallops taste wise was great, but compared to the scallop in the noodle dish, the steamed one seemed a bit small especially when it was sliced in half. The Typoon Style Lobster didn’t have the tiny fried fish which I find changes the dish a bit, but we’re definitely looking forward to come back and try the dim sum. Our server was very attentive, the manager didn’t seem to be as friendly. I do get some of the comments left on here about their service, a little inconsistent.
One of the better dim sum spots in Downtown Toronto, though the selection of dim sum items is relatively limited and they were surprisingly sold out of congee when I dined here. The actual space and ambiance leaves much to be desired but the food feels clean, tasty, and well seasoned. Definitely come here with a group and plan to share, as the portions here are quite large!
Great dim sum in downtown Toronto without having to go uptown. We came on a Saturday morning and it was quite busy. Fortunately this place accepts reservations online. Everything we ordered came out quickly, hot and delicious. Would recommend and come back. Note that it is a bit on the pricier side at around $10 per dish.
Very good Cantonese Chinese food options for downtown Toronto. They have lobster options and Peking duck at $88. Typically we don’t like to eat authentic Chinese food downtown Toronto but prefer Markham or even Scarborough - but this restaurant seems to check all boxes in terms of hygiene , cleanliness , food selection , service and taste. We had the signature lobster , green peas , Shrimp dumplings , and pineapple fried rice 😋 And they’re open all day for lunch and dinner They also offer a separate take out window from inside the building which is great !
We ordered abalone and chicken, teriyaki angus beef, both were delicious and mouth watering, chicken was very tender and savory. dishes had a very nice appearance and well garnished. our server May was so helpful and friendly. She patiently answered our questions and explained the items on menu.
