About Moon Buffet
Moon Buffet, also known as Blue Moon Buffet according to some online listings, is a Chinese restaurant located at 101D Roosevelt Blvd in Eleanor, WV 25070. As a Chinese Restaurant featuring a buffet, Moon Buffet aims to provide a diverse selection of Chinese cuisine, along with sushi and hibachi options, to the local community. They can be contacted at (304) 586-0180 or via their mobile number, +1 304-586-0180.
Based on recent online feedback, customer experiences at Moon Buffet present a mixed perspective. One reviewer recounted a positive lunch experience. They noted that upon arriving at noon, there was ample seating available, and they were promptly asked for their drink order (hot tea). This customer appreciated the variety of food offered on the buffet, mentioning the presence of sushi and a hibachi grill, although they personally focused on the soups and other buffet selections, which they found to be "good and hot." They also commended the server for being efficient in clearing empty plates. While they noted the server was quiet and did not introduce themselves or wear a name badge (which the reviewer prefers for a more personable experience), they still found the lunch to be good and reasonably priced, with a total bill of $30 for two buffet meals and two pots of hot tea. The cleanliness of the lavatory was also noted positively. Overall, this reviewer gave Moon Buffet a 4-star rating due to the variety of food offered.
In contrast, another customer expressed a decline in the restaurant's quality. They stated that the food was "not fresh like it used to be" and described the sweet tea as having a "funky tasting as in old" flavor. This reviewer felt that the establishment was in need of an "over-haul and cleaned up," specifically mentioning the unappealing sight of refrigerators in the dining area. While they acknowledged that the service was "very friendly," they also noted low customer traffic during their recent evening visits (only 2 to 6 people present). This customer believed that the food needed improvement, although they did mention that the crab rangoons were still great.
Considering these two reviews, there appears to be a discrepancy in the recent experiences at Moon Buffet. One customer enjoyed a satisfactory lunch with fresh, hot food and efficient service, appreciating the variety including sushi and hibachi. The other reviewer, however, reported a decline in food freshness and overall cleanliness, despite acknowledging friendly service and liking one specific item (crab rangoons). The low evening traffic mentioned in the latter review might suggest a potential issue with customer satisfaction or awareness.
The environment of Moon Buffet seems to offer ample seating, as noted by the first reviewer who had their pick of booths at lunchtime. The second reviewer's comment about the need for a "cleaned up" and the "unappealing" refrigerators in the dining area suggests that the ambiance might be lacking in terms of cleanliness and aesthetic appeal for some customers. The presence of a hibachi grill indicates a specific feature that likely contributes to the dining experience and potentially the atmosphere, although its operation and popularity are not detailed.
In terms of services, Moon Buffet primarily offers a buffet with a variety of Chinese dishes, including sushi and a hibachi grill section. They also provide table service for drinks and clearing plates, as mentioned in the positive review. The service was described as efficient by one reviewer and friendly by another, indicating a potentially positive aspect of their operation, although one reviewer preferred a more personable approach from the server. Takeout or delivery services are not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews.
Regarding features, the variety of food on the buffet, including standard Chinese fare, sushi, and a hibachi grill, is a significant feature of Moon Buffet. The reasonable pricing mentioned by one reviewer could also be considered a positive feature for budget-conscious diners. The friendly service, as highlighted by one customer, is another potential draw. However, the reported decline in food freshness and cleanliness are concerning features that could deter potential customers.
There is no specific promotional information available in the provided text. Local users might want to check local listings, social media, or contact Moon Buffet directly at (304) 586-0180 to inquire about any current promotions, discounts, or special offers they may be running to attract more customers, especially given the mention of low evening traffic.
In conclusion, Moon Buffet in Eleanor, WV, offers a Chinese buffet with a variety of options including sushi and a hibachi grill. Recent customer reviews present a mixed picture, with one praising the variety, fresh and hot food, efficient service, reasonable prices, and clean facilities, while another reports a decline in food freshness and cleanliness, despite friendly service and liking one specific item. Local users considering Moon Buffet may want to weigh these contrasting experiences and potentially visit during peak hours for a potentially fresher buffet experience or inquire about recent improvements in food quality and cleanliness before dining.

Customer Reviews
Wanted to meet a friend, DH, for lunch. However, the weather was not so good. We both decided that Chinese buffet sounded good and picked the Blue Moon Buffet or Moon Buffet (as it is called on Google maps) for lunch. We arrived at noon and there was plenty of room, seating availability and we had our pick on seating. We both picked a booth. Before we were seated, our server asked us for our drink order. Hot tea was what we both wanted and needed. We took our time visiting the buffet. They do have sushi and a hibachi grill, but I wasn't into it. I did however, enjoy the soups and three plates from the buffet. The food was good and hot. Took pictures of the buffet for y'all. The server came by a couple of times to remove our empty plates, which I appreciated. As for me, I do like servers to either introduce themselves or wear a name badge. It just makes things more personable. Our sever was very quiet, but efficient. For a good lunch, reasonably priced. The tab was right at $30 (2× buffet and 2x hot tea, served in pots). The lavatory was clean. All-in-all, because of the variety of food offered, I am giving this restaurant a 4 star rating.
Their food just isn't fresh like it used to be. The sweet tea was funky tasting as in old. The place needs a over-haul and cleaned up. The refrigerators in the dining area is not appealing to look at. The service is very friendly. Last few times we have been there in the evening there has only been 2 to 6 people there. The food needs improved but the crab lagoons are great.
This place used to be the best! I don’t know what happened but their quality has gone downhill drastically and they are nowhere near as good as they used to be. I ordered kung pao chicken and the peanuts that were sautéed in it had an old rancid nut flavor that made the dish almost inedible, I picked out all the peanuts (which there were tons) and was able to eat it, but the dish still had a hint of the rancid peanut flavor. We also got the combination lo-mien and it wasn’t very good either, it was edible, but the garlic was so strong you couldn’t taste any other flavor (and I’m a garlic lover!!!). The steamed dumplings were delicious, egg roll tasted like it was old and had been left sitting in oil under a heat lamp for a while. Shrimp spring rolls were ok. I quit ordering the crab rangoons due to the way they make there’s are just way too sweet for me, almost taste like fried crab cheesecake they are so sweet, I know lots of ppl who like them like that, I do not. Also I asked for white rice but got fried rice. Service however is always wonderful there, they are super nice.
I ordered my Singapore Mein Fun, 2 Avocado Sushi Rolls, and a Quart of White Rice and it was Delicious! And the Avocado Rolls even came with some Slices in my order! I highly recommend! Thank you Moon Buffet!
Food quality has slipped some and the seating area all needs a good cleaning. That could be why we don't see the crowds the place used to have. We still visit occasionally but don't go out of our way to go here like we used to. Still a solid lunch spot.
