About MONG Q
Welcome to MONG Q, a Chinese Restaurant located at 7007 Friars Rd, San Diego, CA 92108, USA. You can reach them at (858) 988-3144 or +1 858-988-3144. MONG Q offers a unique approach to Chinese cuisine, specializing in stir-fry noodles and customizable bowls. Based on feedback from local patrons, MONG Q presents a specific style of dining that potential customers should be aware of.
One of the frequently highlighted aspects of MONG Q is the friendliness and service-oriented nature of the staff. A customer on their first visit mentioned the "nice and friendly" staff with a "perfectly service mind." This positive interaction contributed to a good initial impression. This same customer also enjoyed a "delicious stir fry noodle" dish, noting the "huge portion" size, which could be appealing to those looking for a substantial meal. The positive experience even led this customer to wish for a MONG Q location closer to their home in Las Vegas, indicating a high level of satisfaction with the food and service received.
However, another local reviewer provided a more critical perspective on their experience at MONG Q. This customer described the food as "okay at best," suggesting that while not necessarily bad, it may not meet the expectations of all diners. They noted a "decent meat selection" but felt that a significant amount was needed to feel the meal was worth the price. The selection of vegetables was described as "limited," which might be a consideration for those who prioritize a wide variety of vegetables in their stir-fry. A key feature of MONG Q's service, according to this review, is that the sauce for the bowls is applied by the staff rather than allowing customers to do it themselves. This reviewer found the resulting sauce combination to be "not good," indicating a potential lack of personalization that could impact the overall enjoyment of the meal.
Further insights from this review concern the operational aspects of MONG Q. The soda machine is located behind the counter, which means there are "no free refills of soda," a detail that might influence beverage choices and the perceived value of the meal. The reviewer mentioned that a single bowl and a medium soda cost "over 20 dollars," leading to the conclusion that the meal was "definitely not worth it" based on their overall experience. This price point, combined with the perceived limitations in customization and vegetable selection, might be a factor for budget-conscious diners.
Perhaps the most significant aspect of the dining experience at MONG Q, as highlighted by this reviewer, is the lack of indoor seating. Customers are required to eat in the "court yard where it's hot and get attacked by flies." This outdoor dining environment could be a major drawback for many, particularly during warmer months or for those who prefer an indoor setting. The discomfort caused by the heat and insects significantly detracted from this customer's experience.
Despite the negative aspects of the food quality, customization limitations, pricing, and dining environment, the reviewer did acknowledge the staff, giving them a three-star rating for service. They clarified that while the "workers were not rude," they also "had no customer service," which seems contradictory to the positive feedback from the first reviewer. This discrepancy suggests that service quality might be inconsistent or perceived differently based on individual interactions and expectations. Ultimately, the second reviewer stated that they "will not be going back here," indicating a significant level of dissatisfaction with their overall experience.
Based on these reviews, MONG Q appears to offer a stir-fry noodle and customizable bowl concept with friendly staff and potentially large portion sizes. However, potential customers should be aware of the reported limitations in vegetable selection, the staff-applied sauces which may not cater to individual preferences, the lack of free soda refills, and a price point that some customers find high for the value received. Furthermore, the outdoor-only seating in a potentially hot and insect-prone courtyard is a significant factor to consider.
Currently, there is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in MONG Q may want to contact them directly at (858) 988-3144 or +1 858-988-3144 to inquire about their current menu, pricing, and any special offers that might be available. It would also be prudent to ask about the typical dining conditions in the courtyard, especially during different times of the day and year.
In conclusion, MONG Q offers a specific stir-fry dining experience in San Diego with friendly staff and large portions being notable positives. However, potential customers should weigh these against concerns raised about food quality ("okay at best"), limited customization and vegetable selection, pricing, and the exclusive use of outdoor seating in a potentially uncomfortable environment. It is recommended to contact MONG Q directly for the most up-to-date information on their offerings and to make an informed decision based on your personal preferences and priorities.

Customer Reviews
The staff are nice and friendly with a perfectly service mind. It was my first time here last night, I got my delicious stir fry noodle huge portion. I wish to see another Mong Q close to my house in Las Vegas. You can drop a dollar for the cook that deserves it.
The food was okay at best have a decent meat selection but you would have to make a mountain of a bowl to get your money worth. Limited selection of vegetables. When it comes to sause for your bowl they do for you not lettting you do it your self. The mix they put together wasn't good. Their soda machine is behind the counter so no free refill of soda. One bowl and a medium soda came out to over 20 dollars. Definitely not worth it. No sitting in side you have to go in the court yard where it's hot and get attacked by flies. The only reason am giving them a three stars for service is both workers were not rude but had no customer service. Will not be going back here.
The gentleman with the beard was very helpful, the food was really good!
really delicious and wholesome food I felt good about eating. it was really satisfying and refreshing having such yummy and healthy food in a mall food court. the customer service was great, the staff are so friendly and helpful and knowledgeable. portions are generous & its really cool watching it be cooked as well. *I would not recommend the Vietnamese coffee, was a pre packaged product that did not meet my standards
Food was ok but I had better Mongolian grill also The sauces lacked punch for us. Quantity was generous and we could not finish the food.
