About Money Cat

Welcome to Money Cat, a Chinese Restaurant located at 2925 Richmond Ave. Suite 140 in Houston, Texas. This establishment offers a modern Asian dining experience with a focus on a creative and aesthetically pleasing menu.

The environment at Money Cat is described as really nice with great decor. However, some aspects of the layout might feel a bit unusual to some patrons, with a dense arrangement of tables. One specific table was noted as feeling dark and facing a wall, and a flickering light fixture above another table was also mentioned as needing attention.

Despite these minor environmental concerns, the food at Money Cat receives high praise. While sushi rolls were considered the least favorite, the fried mushroom appetizer was highlighted as the best part of the meal. The rainbow carrots and vegetable tempura were also described as phenomenal and awesome, respectively. The restaurant offers a smokey drink, typically made with mezcal but can be substituted with tequila, which was also well-received. Customers have reported feeling very full after their meals, indicating generous portions.

Money Cat is acknowledged as being in a higher price range, consistent with restaurants of its caliber, but it is considered well worth the cost for a nice and delicious dinner. A standout feature is the happy hour, which is highly recommended for offering excellent value.

The service at Money Cat is consistently praised as friendly and efficient. One server, Michael, was specifically mentioned for being great, answering questions thoroughly, being readily available, and providing service with a smile. The food was also noted to arrive quickly and fresh, even during off-peak hours, suggesting a well-prepared and attentive staff.

Overall, Money Cat is highly recommended for those seeking a nice date night or a really nice and delicious dinner and are willing to spend accordingly. It is considered a favorite new restaurant by some locals, lauded for its creative menu, aesthetically pleasing and exceptionally tasteful food, and consistently friendly and efficient service. No specific limited-time promotions were mentioned in the provided reviews.

Leta get the bad out of the way.... if you can call it that. The place is really nice. The decor is great. I'm not a huge fan of all the tables. The layout is a bit weird. One table felt dark and like facing a wall. And they need to fix the light that we sat under. It kept flickering, and at one point it even went fully off door like 5 seconds. Ok, gripes out of the way (Yes, those silly things were my only gripes). The food was amazing! The sushi rolls were our least favorite. The fried mushroom appetizer was really the best part of the meal. The rainbow carrots were phenomenal. The veg tempura was awesome. The smokey drink made with mezcal we had it dive with tequila, and it was great. Seriously, we were stuffed. Yes, it's a bit expensive, as any restaurant at this level is. But it's well worth it. And let's not forget the service. Michael was a great server. He answered everything, was available, and service was with a smile. The food came out quickly and fresh. To be fair, we were there at an off hour, but also that usually means they're understaffed, or they're not ready. No it was awesome. Service overall was wonderful. Seriously, if you want a nice date night and are willing to spend for a really nice and delicious dinner, this has to be on the list.

Omg I’m in love. This is definitely in my top 3 sushi places now. I had the pandan-monium cocktail and that was so smooth and sweet. The honey vanilla milk buns I didn’t want to share because the butter and buns were so yummy together. The wagyu yakitori were amazing the flavor was so full and bold. The sushi was amazing too. Definitely will be back!

We took full advantage of their social hour menu (which is available all day on Mondays). Service was kind and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The highlights of our meal include maitake karaage, the salmon flight, tempura fried pickles, and the flying money cat roll. But don’t be afraid to just order the entire menu, like I nearly did 🤭

Food is great for price. Is it top tier? Definitely not, but I went around lunch and got the happy hours and the prices were amazing for how much they give you. Pretty good overall, id say service can improve though.
