About Molihua

Molihua is a restaurant located at 7118 Bertner Ave, Houston, TX 77030, USA. While categorized on some platforms as a Chinese Restaurant, Molihua appears to offer a broader culinary experience with unique assortments and flavors, potentially leaning towards an Asian fusion concept that includes sushi and noodle dishes.

Customers have highlighted the friendly and welcoming nature of the staff, who are helpful with the menu and offer suggestions. The food is described as having unique flavor combinations, with dishes that "melt with flavor." The drinks and desserts are also noted for their uniqueness and appealing presentation. The atmosphere of the restaurant is described as having a good "vibe," contributing to a positive dining experience for some.

One diner who ate on a Saturday evening was seated immediately. This reviewer provided detailed feedback on several dishes they ordered. Highlights included the Hamachi crudo (praised for melting texture and blueberry addition), the XO hand-pulled noodles (favorite dish, noted for soft and chewy texture), the Chilean sea bass (good flavors), and the garlic butter shoyu fried rice (described as the best garlic rice). The Otoro was also enjoyed for its buttery texture and chilled presentation.

However, this same reviewer found the Crispy temaki salmon tartare to need more umami, the Crispy truffle puff to have a potentially stronger truffle flavor, and the Unagi to be somewhat dry. They also suggested a better presentation for the Chicken wing mochi karaage, which came in a to-go box. The Naruto was noted as being small. The Coconut sago was considered to need more sweetness and was a bit too thick, while the Chocolate and salted caramel cake was found to be dry.

Another observation mentioned that the restaurant is quite dark with not much lighting and could use more decorations. Overall, Molihua seems to offer a diverse menu with some standout dishes and friendly service, though some aspects of the food and ambiance have received mixed feedback. Came here to eat with friends and the staff were so friendly and welcoming! They helped with the menu and gave wonderful suggestions to choose from. The food had unique assortments that just melts with flavor. Amazing. Drinks and desert were just as unique and pretty as well! Atmosphere was a vibe too, 10/10!

Dined in on a Saturday at 6:45 pm for a party of two and was seated immediately by the sushi bar. It’s a very dark restaurant, not much lighting, needs more decorations. We enjoyed everything we ordered! The chefs know what they are doing! We ordered: Hamachi crudo: hamachi melted in our mouths, and the blueberries on top was a nice touch versus jalapeño slices! Crispy temaki salmon tartare: least favorite dish, beds more umami Crispy truffle puff: very soft mochi balls! The truffle flavor could have been stronger Chicken wing mochi karaage: this was so good, presentation could be better, it comes in a brown togo box, a nice round hybrid bowl plate could work better Otoro: buttery goodness and it was on top of ice so it was super chilled Unagi: kind of dry but good flavors Naruto: itty bitty four pieces of goodness XO hand pulled noodles: our favorite dish! Noodles were so soft and chewy! Chilean sea bass: very good flavors Garlic butter shoyo fried rice: the best garlic rice we’ve had! Coconut sago: needs more sweetness, and it was a tad too thick Chocolate and salted caramel cake: the cake was very dry

This amazing location reopened today, August 19, 2024 as a breakfast restaurant. OMG! The transformation was well worth the wait. The amazing staff Jennifer, August, and Chef Mohammmed, made this breakfast experience the best one ever. The ambience was both relaxing as well as romantic. From the soft pink flowers to the bold hunter green coffee cups, it is masculine and feminine energy entwined. Jennifer was our server and she was amazing. She was knowledgeable of our food choices as well as intuitive to what we would like. August greeted us with a warm and welcoming smile. He made constant contact to ensure we were enjoying our experience. Chef Mohammed was a genius in the kitchen. He hit every pallet from sweet to salty, heavy to light and literally made our taste buds burst. Although this location is inside the Blossom hotel, I am sure it is a gem in the city of Houston.

Came on a weekday for a birthday celebration. It wasn't too busy, but service was not attentive at all. We started off extremely happy and pleased. The hot dishes (photo) were very good. However, the sashimi/nigiri was so bland, no flavor at all. And the fish itself, some were fresh, some wasn't so much. However, the most unpleasant thing was that we ordered some nigiri flights. Some of the fish on the flight were out, and they did not even care to tell us, but just replaced them with some random other pieces. They replaced otoro, a yummy tasty fatty tuna, with mackerel (?) The replacement does not add up in flavor nor price point, and they didn't even ask if we were okay with that replacement or if we wanted to order something else. When asked, the server just simply, oh, they were out of that. No apologies, no nothing.

I had been anticipating dining at this restaurant ever since they announced its opening and I had high expectations. Sadly, I was a bit underwhelmed. First off, the food portions are laughably TINY for the high price that you pay. They should definitely work on portioning out the food so it’s a decent size. They also need to work on training the servers on having more of a fine dining approach and anticipating their guests. The dinner did not flow very well because of the server’s lack of attention to detail. No excuse because there were only 2 other tables there. There was also no ambience at all. This restaurant has a lot of potential. I hope they tighten things up in the future.
