About MJ Valley Restaurant

MJ Valley Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant located at 203 W Valley Blvd, Alhambra, CA 91801, USA. Situated on a well-known thoroughfare in Alhambra, a city with a significant presence of diverse Asian cuisines, MJ Valley Restaurant is a relatively new establishment that has garnered initial attention and mixed feedback from its patrons. You can contact them at (626) 766-1386 or their mobile number +1 626-766-1386 for reservations or inquiries about their menu and services. As a Chinese restaurant in this area, MJ Valley Restaurant likely aims to offer a range of traditional and perhaps contemporary Chinese dishes to cater to the local community.

Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, MJ Valley Restaurant provides dining options that include a notable lunch special menu and a selection of seafood items. The available online reviews offer insights into the quality and authenticity of their food, the value provided through their lunch specials, and specific dishes that have resonated with customers. These firsthand accounts are valuable for local users seeking a new Chinese dining experience in Alhambra.

One review indicates that MJ Valley Restaurant is a "fairly new" establishment. The customers who shared this review mentioned their curiosity about the mixed feedback they had encountered, prompting them to try the restaurant. They were particularly impressed with the "wide variety of selection" available on the lunch special menu, with prices starting from $9.99. For a group of five, they ordered six dishes from this menu and found that there was "plenty of food left to take home," suggesting generous portion sizes, especially considering the price point. They described the food as "decent" and "overall good for typical Chinese food." However, they specifically highlighted the "preserved veggie with pork belly" as the standout dish, praising its "very authentic" flavor, which they attributed to the use of "南乳(red bean curd)." They also noted that the "pork belly melt in your mouth" and wished for more preserved vegetables to soak up the flavorful sauce, which they deemed perfect for eating with steamed rice.

Expanding on the lunch special experience, the same reviewer mentioned that all the dishes they ordered were from this menu, with prices ranging from $9.99 to $11.99. This reinforces the value proposition of their lunch specials, offering a variety of dishes at affordable prices. They also provided a more nuanced assessment of the food quality, stating that "all their dishes are good except the lamb with ginger & scallion." This suggests that while most of their offerings are satisfactory, there might be some inconsistencies or dishes that do not meet the same level of quality as others.

In addition to their regular menu and lunch specials, the reviews also provided specific pricing for seafood items, indicating that MJ Valley Restaurant offers fresh seafood. Lobster was priced at $19.99 per pound, and King crab was listed at $45.99 per pound. The inclusion of these higher-end seafood options suggests a potential feature of the restaurant, possibly catering to customers looking for special occasion meals or premium ingredients. The pricing information allows local users to gauge the cost of these items if they are interested.

Considering these initial reviews, MJ Valley Restaurant appears to be a promising new addition to the Alhambra Chinese dining scene, particularly noted for its affordable and varied lunch special menu with generous portions. The "preserved veggie with pork belly" stands out as a highly recommended dish, praised for its authentic flavor and quality. The availability of fresh seafood like lobster and king crab at specified prices indicates another potential draw for customers. However, the mention of one dish (lamb with ginger & scallion) not being as good as the others suggests that there might be some variability in the menu. The overall impression is of a restaurant offering good value for typical Chinese food, with at least one standout authentic dish and the option for more premium seafood.

While the reviews provide insights into the food quality and pricing, they do not offer much information about the environment or ambiance of MJ Valley Restaurant. The mention of it being a "fairly new" establishment suggests a potentially modern or recently renovated space, but this is speculative. Similarly, details about the services offered, such as dine-in versus takeout options, the speed of service, or the attentiveness of the staff, are not explicitly mentioned. Local users might need to visit or contact the restaurant directly to gather this information.

For local users in Alhambra and the surrounding areas, MJ Valley Restaurant presents an opportunity to try a new Chinese dining option, especially if you are looking for affordable lunch specials with a wide selection. The positive feedback on the portion sizes and the authentic flavor of the preserved veggie with pork belly make it particularly appealing. If you are also a fan of fresh seafood, the availability of lobster and king crab is a notable feature. However, being aware of the potential inconsistency in some dishes, as suggested by the comment on the lamb dish, might help manage expectations.

To get a more comprehensive understanding of MJ Valley Restaurant, including their full menu, the ambiance of the restaurant, and the services they offer, local residents are encouraged to contact them directly at (626) 766-1386. Inquiring about their current lunch specials, other signature dishes, and any ongoing promotions could further inform your decision to visit. Additionally, keeping an eye out for more reviews as the restaurant establishes itself might provide a more complete picture of the overall dining experience.

In conclusion, MJ Valley Restaurant in Alhambra is a relatively new Chinese restaurant that appears to offer good value through its diverse lunch special menu, featuring generous portions and at least one highly praised authentic dish (preserved veggie with pork belly). The availability of fresh seafood like lobster and king crab is another notable aspect. While one review suggests potential inconsistency in some dishes, the overall impression is positive for those seeking typical Chinese food with some authentic highlights. Local users are encouraged to explore this new establishment and perhaps inquire further about their offerings and environment.

This is a fairly new Chinese restaurant. We were curious about the mixed reviews and decided to give it a try. The lunch special menu has a wide variety of selection from $9.99 up. We ordered 6 dishes for 5 people and plenty of food left to take home. The food is decent, overall good for typical Chinese food. The preserved veggie with pork belly was the best. The flavor was very authentic using the 南乳(red bean curd) and the pork belly melt in your mouth. I wished there was more preserved veggie that soaked up the flavor, perfect to eat with steam rice.

Not a bad place to go to for some Chinese food. Disclaimer: I only visited here with family and we had an entire set course dinner menu, so it's not a typical experience. But the service was great and the food was pretty good overall. One downside is that the parking lot is quite small, so if you come during peak hours, you might not find a parking spot. You would have to find a spot on the street or another alternative. The interior is also a bit cramped; seems like they tried to cram as many tables and chairs as possible to maximize the limited space they have. But overall, the food was good, the service was great, and I would come back here again.

Food was okay 2 out of 5 stars for me. I decided to come back 2nd time trying other dishes and it was WORST. The food came out not as The picture, we asked and they said they were out of that item. Didn't they suppose to let us know before we ordered instead of substitued stuff that we Didn't want? The clams are dead, and smelly so we told thêm. They did nothing, not even sorry. We paid but Didn't eat that dish. Then came The french style beef, it Didn't taste or smell like beef. It has a weird texture that I had ever experienced my whole life. Sea Cucumber was too salty. Omg, I would never come back.
