About Mini Garden Express

Welcome to Mini Garden Express, a Chinese restaurant located at 3131 N Nimitz Hwy in Honolulu, HI 96819, USA. This establishment caters to local users seeking a blend of familiar local Hawaiian and classic Chinese cuisine. You can reach them at (808) 833-3828 or their mobile number, +1 808-833-3828, to place orders or inquire about their menu.

Mini Garden Express is described as a casual restaurant that serves a variety of local and Chinese favorite dishes. Based on customer reviews, it appears to be a popular spot for takeout, although a few tables are available for those who prefer to dine in. A key feature of Mini Garden Express is that their food is made to order, which ensures freshness but may also result in a longer wait time, especially during busy periods. Customers are advised to call in their orders ahead of time to minimize waiting.

One customer shared their experience with the Combination Plate, which included Ginger Chicken and Roasted Pork. They noted that the portion size was generous, although it consisted mostly of rice. This suggests that while the overall quantity of food is substantial, the balance between the main dishes and rice might lean heavily towards rice. The same reviewer also tried the Chom Sum Noodles with chicken, mentioning a good amount of vegetables but finding the flavor and taste to be a bit bland for their preference. This indicates that while some dishes may be visually appealing with a good vegetable content, the seasoning might not appeal to all palates.

On the service front, one reviewer had a positive experience, describing the service as "nice." They were even pleasantly surprised to receive a complimentary soup with their order, highlighting a gesture of goodwill from the staff. This suggests that Mini Garden Express values customer satisfaction and may offer friendly service.

Another customer's experience, prompted by a recommendation, further sheds light on what Mini Garden Express has to offer. They ordered the ginger chicken and char siu with rice for $14.61 (including tax) and were surprised by the large portion size, admitting they could barely finish it. This reinforces the observation about generous portions. The reviewer found both the char siu (Chinese BBQ pork) and the ginger chicken to be "very good," indicating that these specific dishes are flavorful and well-prepared. They also noted that the server spoke loudly in both Chinese and English and was very friendly, echoing the positive service experience mentioned by the other reviewer. This visit occurred around 3 pm, a time when there were no other dine-in customers, but the restaurant appeared to be very busy with takeout orders, further emphasizing the popularity of their takeout service.

Based on these reviews, the environment of Mini Garden Express seems to be primarily geared towards efficient service, catering to both dine-in and a significant takeout clientele. While one review mentions a clean and comfortable setting (from a different restaurant with a similar name, which seems to be an error in the provided information), the focus here appears to be more on functionality and the preparation of made-to-order meals rather than elaborate ambiance. The high volume of takeout orders suggests a local following that values the food and convenience offered.

The services at Mini Garden Express include both dine-in and takeout. The made-to-order nature of their food is a key feature, ensuring that meals are freshly prepared. However, this can lead to longer wait times, making it advisable for customers to call in their orders ahead, especially if they are on a tight schedule. The friendly service noted by multiple reviewers suggests a positive interaction with the staff.

A significant feature of Mini Garden Express is the combination of local Hawaiian and Chinese cuisine, offering a diverse menu that caters to different tastes. The generous portion sizes are consistently highlighted, providing good value for money in terms of quantity. Specific dishes like the Ginger Chicken and Char Siu have been praised for their flavor. However, some dishes, like the Chom Sum Noodles, may have a milder flavor profile that might not appeal to everyone. The emphasis on rice in some combination plates is also a point to consider for those who prefer a different balance of components in their meal.

Currently, there is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in any special offers or promotions at Mini Garden Express may need to contact the restaurant directly or inquire when placing an order. Given their popularity for takeout, they might have daily specials or lunch deals that are worth asking about.

In conclusion, Mini Garden Express in Honolulu offers a casual dining experience with a menu that blends local Hawaiian and Chinese favorite dishes. Known for their generous, made-to-order portions, they are a popular choice for takeout, and dine-in options are also available. Customers can expect friendly service, and specific dishes like the Ginger Chicken and Char Siu have received positive feedback for their taste. However, potential customers should be aware that wait times can be longer due to the made-to-order preparation and that some dishes might have a milder flavor profile or a higher ratio of rice to other components. Calling ahead for orders is recommended for those seeking a quicker service. For local users looking for a hearty meal combining local and Chinese flavors, Mini Garden Express presents a viable option.

Casual restaurant serving local and Chinese favorites. Few tables for dine in but most of the orders are takeout. Do expect to wait since everything is made to order. Best to call in orders ahead. I had the Combination Plate with Ginger Chicken and Roasted Pork. Portion size is generous however it's mostly rice. The Chom Sum Noodles with chicken was good amount of vegetables but the flavor and taste was a bit bland for me. The service was nice, the lady even gave me a free soup with my order. I'll return and to try something else on the menu.

A person I met recommended this place so I decided to have my late lunch/early dinner here as I was passing by. I bought ginger chicken/char siu with rice for $14.61 with tax included. To my surprise it was a lot when it came and I was barely able to finish it. The char siu and the ginger chicken were very good. The server spoke loud in both chinese and english and she was very friendly. I went there at 3 pm so there was no other dine in customers but they seemed very busy with lots of take outs. I am glad to have tried this place.

This is a local family run type place. Order at counter to eat in or take out. Lady taking orders was efficient, not super friendly. All food is served in Togo containers. There is one person taking orders and packing items which may be an issue for cross contamination. We order spring rolls, shrimp fried rice and Singapore noodles for $37. Portions were huge and incredibly affordable. We all enjoyed the yummy food. I have had better however the price was higher and portions were smaller. Solid lunch/dinner option. Would like to add a lady was cooking up wontons and noods that looked really good. If there wasn't a line I would have ordered then too.

Went here on recommendation from a friend. The beer chow fun and duck crispy noodle were bomb. Service was efficient and the folks are nice. Prices are reasonable for the large portions and was worth the drive (20-30 mins for us)

I’m so happy to find them again. Great food and prices! My go to Wonton and beef brisket Mein is definitely worth the drive. They do offer dine in and take out.
