About Minh Sun Chinese Restaurant

Welcome to Minh Sun Chinese Restaurant, located at 5299 New Jesup Hwy in Brunswick, Georgia. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Minh Sun aims to provide the local community with a range of Chinese cuisine. However, based on recent online reviews, customer experiences appear to be quite varied, with some praising the food and service while others report significant issues with order accuracy, food quality, and customer service interactions. Potential customers should carefully consider these differing perspectives.

One reviewer had a positive experience, describing the food as "plentiful and so very good." They also noted "excellent prices and friendly staff." This customer specifically recommended several dishes, including Sesame Chicken, Chicken Kung Po, House Special Lo Mein, and Chicken and vegetables, all of which they found to be good choices. They also suggested trying the Crab Rangoon and egg rolls, indicating satisfaction with these appetizers. This review paints a picture of Minh Sun as a restaurant offering generous portions of tasty food at reasonable prices, complemented by friendly service.

However, another, more detailed review recounts a significantly negative experience involving a specific order. This customer and their significant other ordered Mongolian chicken and mushroom shrimp. The reviewer specifically requested mushrooms only with added cashews in the shrimp dish and confirmed the order multiple times over the phone. Despite this, the received dish contained only 4-5 pieces of shrimp, an abundance of mushrooms, and various other vegetables including zucchini, baby corn, carrots, onions, and water chestnuts. This indicates a serious issue with order accuracy and attention to detail.

The negative experience was compounded by the subsequent interaction with the staff. When the customer called back to express their dissatisfaction and the incorrect order, they were asked to return to the restaurant for the staff to "see it for herself," which they did. The staff member initially blamed the customer for not mentioning a zucchini allergy, despite the allergy not being relevant to the incorrect order of a shrimp and mushroom dish with added cashews. Eventually, a partial refund of only $10 was provided for a $13 order, with the staff member reportedly stating it was the customer's fault for not mentioning the allergy. This interaction highlights significant issues with customer service, including a lack of apology for the restaurant's error and an attempt to shift blame to the customer.

Furthermore, the staff member pointed out that shrimp dishes typically come with a "vegetable medley," even when not explicitly stated on the menu (as in a "shrimp and mushroom dish"). The reviewer noted that there is a specific order for "shrimp with vegetables," implying that the standard shrimp dishes might include a mix of vegetables that are not always disclosed when ordering a specific combination like shrimp and mushrooms only. This lack of transparency regarding standard ingredients can be problematic, especially for customers with allergies or specific preferences.

The reviewer also found the Mongolian chicken to be disappointing, describing the meat as chewy and containing an excessive amount of onions. A photo accompanied the review, visually corroborating the large quantity of onions. The only positive aspect of this order was the crab rangoons, which aligns with the positive feedback from the other reviewer.

Adding to the concerns about food quality, the reviewer described the fried rice that came with the shrimp dish as resembling "Rice-a-Roni," specifically the broccoli and cheddar flavor, and noted that it looked like boxed rice rather than traditional fried rice. This raises questions about the authenticity and quality of the ingredients and preparation methods used for even standard dishes like fried rice.

The reviewer concluded by stating that the staff was rude and predicted that the restaurant might not remain in business if they do not improve their customer service. They advised others to avoid a similar negative experience and suggested trying other nearby restaurants.

An edit to the review further emphasized the issue of undisclosed ingredients, labeling the lack of information about the "vegetable medley" in shrimp dishes as "false advertisement." The reviewer reiterated their dissatisfaction with the customer service, particularly the blaming of the customer for not mentioning an allergy to a vegetable that shouldn't have been in the ordered dish in the first place. They expressed concern about the potential for severe allergic reactions due to this lack of transparency.

From these reviews, we can identify several key points about Minh Sun Chinese Restaurant:

  • Inconsistent Food Quality: While some dishes are praised, others, like the Mongolian chicken and fried rice, have been criticized.
  • Significant Order Accuracy Issues: Failure to fulfill specific order requests and inclusion of unexpected ingredients.
  • Poor Customer Service: Rudeness, blaming the customer for restaurant errors, and inadequate handling of complaints.
  • Lack of Transparency Regarding Ingredients: Failure to disclose standard inclusion of a vegetable medley in shrimp dishes.
  • Potential for Allergy Issues: Lack of clear information about ingredients poses a risk to customers with allergies.
  • Mixed Perceptions of Value: One reviewer mentioned excellent prices, while another's negative experience outweighed any potential cost savings.

The environment of Minh Sun Chinese Restaurant is not explicitly described, but the mention of ordering takeout and the nature of the food (e.g., lo mein, fried rice) suggests a typical Chinese restaurant setting that likely offers both dine-in and takeout services. The focus of the reviews is primarily on the food and service aspects rather than the ambiance of the restaurant itself.

In terms of services, Minh Sun appears to offer both takeout and dine-in options. The negative review involved a takeout order, while the positive review implies a dine-in experience with staff checking on the customers. It is not mentioned whether Minh Sun offers delivery services. Customers interested in delivery would need to contact the restaurant directly using the provided phone numbers: (912) 267-9398 and +1 912-267-9398.

No specific promotional information is available in the provided reviews. To learn about any special offers, discounts, or changes to their menu, local users are advised to contact the restaurant directly. Given the significant concerns raised about order accuracy and customer service, it might be prudent to be very clear and detailed when placing an order and to confirm any specific ingredient requests or allergy concerns.

To gain a more comprehensive understanding of Minh Sun Chinese Restaurant, it would be helpful to have more feedback from a wider range of customers and to know if the issues raised in the negative review have been addressed. Potential customers should weigh the positive feedback regarding plentiful and tasty food against the serious concerns about order accuracy, undisclosed ingredients, and poor customer service when deciding whether to patronize Minh Sun.

In conclusion, Minh Sun Chinese Restaurant in Brunswick, GA, presents a mixed bag of customer experiences. While some have enjoyed the plentiful food, excellent prices, and friendly staff, others have encountered significant problems with incorrect orders, undisclosed ingredients (potentially leading to allergy issues), and rude customer service. The restaurant likely offers both dine-in and takeout, but delivery is unconfirmed. Potential customers should carefully consider these contrasting reviews and may want to exercise caution, especially when placing specific orders or if they have any dietary restrictions or allergies. Contacting the restaurant directly for clarification on menu items and ingredients might be advisable.

My significant other and I ordered Mongolian chicken and mushroom shrimp from this restaurant. I specifically requested mushrooms only, with added cashews in my shrimp dish. However, upon receiving the food, we found only 4 -5 pieces of shrimp, an abundance of mushrooms, and various other vegetables. Despite confirming the order multiple times over the phone, the restaurant failed to get it right. When I called back to express my dissatisfaction, she told me to bring it back so she could “see it for herself”, which I did. She initially claimed it was my fault for not mentioning my zucchini allergy. Eventually, she provided a partial refund after telling me she was only giving me a $10 bill because I was at fault for not telling her. (My order was $13). It was also pointed out that if you get any shrimp dishes it comes with other vegetables. “If you got shrimp with broccoli it would come with other vegetables” . Mind you, there is a specific order for shrimp with vegetables. The Mongolian chicken was disappointing, with chewy meat and excessive onions. (See photo below). The only saving grace was the crab rangoons. I hope this review helps others avoid a similar experience. Save yourself some money and go to other nearby restaurants. The shrimp plate “fried rice” looked as if it was rice-a-roni, specifically the broccoli and cheddar one. I wish I would have taken a picture of the shrimp dish, as the rice was different. However, what wasn’t different was the fact that the rice looks like boxed rice, again refer to picture below. I know Uncle Ben’s, rice a roni, etc, when I see it. Staff was rude and I don’t see them being in business much longer if they do not fix their customer service. Let’s be honest, all those other vegetables were there to cover up the fact that I got 4-5 shrimp for $13. *Edit* Maybe it should be stated that there is a vegetable medley in each of your shrimp dishes. That is false advertisement. I will not be giving another chance after being told “it’s not my fault, you didn’t tell me your allergy so I’m only giving you $10 back”. That is not the customer service attitude that should be portrayed when someone tells you that they have an allergy to a certain vegetable, when there was no way for me to know that zucchini, baby corn, carrots, onions, water chestnuts were going to be in a ‘shrimp and mushroom dish’. It was absolutely not advertised or told, and you should be thankful that someone has not ended up in the ER because of this.

I enjoy their food, but their buffet is quite sad. Whenever, I attempt to go to the buffet in the past, there is barely food in the trays, last time I went week day, they said they were closing, it was like 5ish, give or take. Again, ordering, from there, the food is great. But the Buffet needs drastic help, in my opinion, the food should be plentiful in the trays, a huge selection, hot and continuous.

Don’t waste your money, gave them benefit of doubt from the moment I walked in. Options were low and you would tell food had been sitting there for a while. Eggrolls & Rangoon were hard and rubbery and rest of the food was even more disappointing. Just don’t… $28 for 2 adults

I had got dinner from here since it was good food. When I got home, shared food with my roommate and he got multiple cuts from a small piece of wire he chewed on in his food. I have attached the picture, it's not a small piece of wire
