About Mingfu Sushi & Chinese

Welcome to Mingfu Sushi & Chinese, a dining establishment located at 8139 Kensington Dr, Waxhaw, NC 28173, USA. As its name suggests, Mingfu offers a unique combination of Japanese sushi and classic Chinese cuisine, catering to a wide range of palates in the Waxhaw area. For those interested in experiencing this fusion of flavors, Mingfu Sushi & Chinese can be contacted at (704) 843-1006 or their mobile number +1 704-843-1006 for reservations or inquiries about their menu and services.

As a restaurant in the Chinese Restaurant category that also features sushi, Mingfu Sushi & Chinese presents itself as a versatile dining option for local users in Waxhaw. Recent customer reviews provide a glimpse into the experiences of diners, highlighting both the strengths and potential weaknesses of this establishment. One enthusiastic newcomer to the area shared a highly positive initial impression. This reviewer found both the food and the service to be exceptional, specifically praising the "Awesome Roll" (a sushi item that lived up to its name), the Kung Pao beef, and the house special Udon, all of which were described as "equally great." The reviewer also commended a staff member named Jules for being "so sweet and attentive," noting that this first visit after moving to the area was so positive that they would "definitely be back!" This feedback suggests that Mingfu Sushi & Chinese has the potential to create a welcoming atmosphere and serve high-quality dishes that leave a lasting positive impression on new customers.

However, another recent review presents a contrasting experience, particularly concerning the service. A customer who frequents the restaurant on a weekly basis with family, including a newborn, reported a significantly negative encounter during a recent visit. While they noted that "the food was great per usual," their experience with a particular waitress, whose name they did not catch, was far from satisfactory. They described feeling "rushed" from the moment they sat down, which was unwelcome as they were seeking a "calm family dinner." The reviewer acknowledged that the waitress's English was not strong, but emphasized that her "attitude was loud." They felt rushed through their order and sensed annoyance from the waitress because their fourth family member had not yet arrived. They also noted that the restaurant was closing within an hour of their arrival.

The negative service experience continued after the fourth person arrived. The reviewer stated that the waitress "just plopped the food in front of one person and ran off." As the closing time approached, they felt increasingly pressured to leave, despite having recently spent money at the establishment. Their request for a final water refill was particularly concerning, as the reviewer claims to have witnessed the waitress "half fill it up with sink water. Literally." This serious allegation, if accurate, raises significant concerns about hygiene and customer treatment. The reviewer concluded by stating that this was the "worst service I have ever had here" and that they left feeling "pretty disappointed" and "the least happy I have ever left here," giving the service a very low rating of 2 out of 5 and describing it as "honestly awful."

Considering these two reviews, it is evident that the experience at Mingfu Sushi & Chinese can be inconsistent. While the quality of the food, particularly certain sushi rolls and Chinese dishes like Kung Pao beef and house special Udon, appears to be a strong point for some customers, the level of service can vary significantly. The positive review highlights attentive and friendly staff, while the negative review details an encounter with a rushed, rude, and inattentive waitress, culminating in a disturbing claim about a water refill.

For local users in Waxhaw considering Mingfu Sushi & Chinese, it would be wise to take both of these recent experiences into account. The positive feedback suggests that there is potential for a delightful meal with excellent service. The negative feedback, however, indicates that there is also a risk of encountering poor and even concerning service, particularly if dining close to closing time or if served by certain staff members. The discrepancy in these reviews does not provide a clear picture of the typical dining experience, suggesting that it might be somewhat unpredictable.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in any potential specials or promotions at Mingfu Sushi & Chinese would need to contact the restaurant directly at (704) 843-1006.

In conclusion, Mingfu Sushi & Chinese in Waxhaw, NC, offers a dual menu of sushi and Chinese cuisine that has impressed some customers with its quality, particularly dishes like the Awesome Roll, Kung Pao beef, and house special Udon. However, recent experiences indicate that the service can be inconsistent, ranging from sweet and attentive to rushed, rude, and potentially concerning, as highlighted by the serious allegation regarding a water refill. Local users considering dining at Mingfu should be aware of this mixed feedback and may want to inquire about service expectations or visit during less busy hours to potentially mitigate the risk of a negative service experience. Further reviews and personal experiences would be valuable in forming a more comprehensive understanding of the typical customer experience at this establishment.

I can't decide which was best, the food or the service. We had the Awesome Roll which lived up to its name, the Kung Pao beef, and house special Udon which were equally great. Jules was so sweet and attentive. We just move in to the area, was our first visit, and we will definitely be back!

Went to dinner tonight with my parents and newborn as we do on a weekly basis.the food was great per usual. The waitress was one I personally have never had before. I didn’t catch her name. We were rushed as we sat down. I would appreciate the fast pace if I was in a hurry but we wanted a calm family dinner. She didn’t speak great English which is okay but her attitude was loud. I was rushed though my order and she was very annoyed we were waiting on one person to arrive. They were going to close with in an hour. Once our 4th person arrived we had already put in the order. She just plopped the food in front of one person and ran off. Then as they were closing she was rushing us out like we didn’t just spend any money there. Very rude. We asked for one last refill of water and I watched her half fill it up with sink water. Literally. Worst service I have ever had here. Pretty disappointed. It was the least happy I have ever left here. 2/5 service. Honestly awful.

Visited this establishment in Waxhaw on 12/26/24. There were 2 - 6 person and 1-5 person parties waiting to be seated with ours being the last. At 6:30 we were told 10-15 minutes for a table which then became a half hour. I understand when restaurants are short staffed but with 30 years in the restaurant business if you open tables always seat them and explain to your customers that there will be a delay and have the host or hostess take the drink order or even an appetizer order. If you keep them sitting at the door so does the money in their wallet. The faster you seat them the faster they spend money. We arrived at 6:30 and at 7:20 we still were not seated even though there were over 6 tables open in the back and 1 in the front. Though there were 2 tables side by side for a party of six in the front, you would think we would be seated there. Absolutely not three of the hostesses friends enter the restaurant and we're immediately seated at one of those 2 tables. When questioned about it the employees said that they were not allowed to put tables together which I know is a lie because we have dined there many times and tables that are next to each other have been pushed together to accommodate. At 7:35 we are seated at the 6 person table in the empty back room and our waitress Isabella greeted us. We ordered and one person in the group ordered a soup to go. Mind you the soup order was never put in and the kitchen closed. Isabella was great with the exception of the soup issue. We had also asked to speak to the shift leader who apparently couldn't be bothered because she never came out. Here are my suggestions for the owner and management. *The hostess that sat her friends before us, should be reprimanded what made it worse, we had already been waiting over 45 minutes. *The kitchen needs to notify serving staff before just shutting it down, who knows the bill for the table which was in excess of $100 may have increased along with the waitresses tip of we were given a chance to place last minute orders. If management/owners wants to reach out to me via IM I would be willing to speak with them.

This is my first time visiting this restaurant. This was a work lunch takeout for four of us. All food was fresh looking and delicious. Will definitely return to have dinner with my wife.

Ming Fu has been a staple in Waxhaw for many years as a go-to for Pan-Asian cuisine. They have had ups and downs for various reasons but have always bounced back. The food is very good and they have many signature dishes like the Dragon & Phoenix, family fav. Their sushi is some of the best in the area; try the Twenty'19 or the Rock 'n' roll!. The atmosphere is quaint although brighter than I would expect for an Asian restaurant. Staff is very friendly, it is easy to order take away, and plenty of parking.
