About Ming Tasty
Welcome to Ming Tasty, a Chinese restaurant located at 1129 Lawrence Expressway in Sunnyvale, California. As a member of the Chinese Restaurant category, Ming Tasty offers a diverse menu of Chinese cuisine to local users. They can be contacted at (408) 734-1188 or their mobile number +1 408-734-1188 for inquiries about their menu, hours, or to place orders. Based on recent customer reviews available online, Ming Tasty presents a mixed culinary experience, with some dishes receiving high praise while others have been noted as needing improvement. A notable feature is the availability of dim sum dishes even during dinner time, setting it apart from some traditional Chinese restaurants.
One reviewer shared a detailed account of their meal, highlighting both positive and negative aspects of specific dishes. They found the "porridge" to be "good," suggesting a satisfying preparation of this classic dish. However, they noted that the "noodles in the wonton noodles soup was soggy (over cooked)," indicating a potential issue with the texture and preparation of their noodle dishes. The "string bean pork neck" was described as "a little salty," suggesting a possible inconsistency in seasoning. On a positive note, the "garlic minced lettuce was good," indicating a well-prepared vegetable dish. This detailed feedback provides valuable insights into the varying quality of different items on the menu.
The same reviewer also commented on the service during their late dinner visit around 8:30 PM. They observed that "there was only one waiter serving half the restaurant, so service was slightly slow." This suggests that staffing levels might be limited during certain times, potentially leading to delays in service. However, they also acknowledged the waiter's diligence, noting that "She was working non stopped," implying that the slow service was likely due to being understaffed rather than a lack of effort. This is an important factor for potential late-night diners to consider.
A significant feature of Ming Tasty, as highlighted by another reviewer, is that "There's dimsum dishes available even during dinner time!" This is a notable advantage as many Chinese restaurants typically offer dim sum only during lunch hours. The availability of dim sum in the evening provides greater flexibility for customers who enjoy these small, savory dishes and makes Ming Tasty a potentially unique option for dinner.
Another customer provided a more general positive review, stating that "Everything was very yummy, if a bit pricy." This suggests that while the food is enjoyable, the cost might be slightly higher compared to other options. This is an important consideration for budget-conscious diners. The use of "yummy" indicates a positive overall impression of the taste and quality of the food experienced by this reviewer.
Adding to the positive aspects, another reviewer specifically praised the "complimentary tea," noting that it "was actually pretty good, too. Not too weak (went for dinner) and also brewed nicely (no bitterness from overbrewed tea)." The quality of complimentary tea can often reflect the overall care and attention to detail of a restaurant. The reviewer's positive experience with the tea, especially during dinner, suggests a consistent effort in this area. They also mentioned that it was "some kind of black tea," providing a general idea of the type of tea served.
Considering these reviews, Ming Tasty appears to be a Chinese restaurant that offers a diverse menu, including the appealing option of dim sum during dinner. While some dishes, like the porridge and garlic minced lettuce, receive positive feedback, others, such as the wonton noodle soup and string bean pork neck, have been noted as having preparation or seasoning issues. The service can be slow during peak or late hours due to potentially limited staffing, although the staff is acknowledged for their hard work. The overall taste of the food is generally considered "yummy," but it might come at a slightly higher price point. A notable positive is the quality of the complimentary black tea served.
The reviews provide limited information about the environment or ambiance of Ming Tasty. The mention of a single waiter serving half the restaurant during a late dinner suggests a casual setting that might get busy, potentially leading to a less intimate atmosphere during peak times. However, without more specific details about the decor, lighting, or overall feel of the restaurant, it is difficult to provide a comprehensive description of the environment. Local users seeking information on the ambiance might need to visit the restaurant or look for additional online reviews or photos.
The services offered by Ming Tasty include dine-in and likely takeout, as is common for most Chinese restaurants. The review mentioning slow service due to understaffing indicates that while they do offer table service, it might be affected by the number of available staff during certain times. The availability of dim sum during dinner can also be considered a unique service offering, catering to a broader range of customer preferences and schedules. The provision of complimentary tea is another service that enhances the dining experience.
Key features of Ming Tasty include the availability of dim sum during dinner hours, the generally well-received taste of their dishes (albeit with some noted inconsistencies), and the provision of complimentary, well-brewed black tea. The "pricy" aspect mentioned by one reviewer could also be considered a feature, indicating a potentially higher quality of ingredients or more elaborate preparation, although this is not explicitly stated. The generous portions, often associated with Chinese-American cuisine, are not specifically mentioned in these reviews, so it's hard to determine if this is a feature of Ming Tasty.
There is no promotional information included in the provided reviews. Therefore, details about any current specials, discounts, or events at Ming Tasty are unavailable. Local users interested in such information would need to contact the restaurant directly or check for any online presence they might have.
In conclusion, Ming Tasty in Sunnyvale, CA, offers a Chinese dining experience with the notable advantage of serving dim sum during dinner. While some dishes have received mixed reviews regarding preparation and seasoning, the overall taste is generally considered good. The service can be slow during busier times due to potential understaffing. The restaurant offers complimentary black tea that has been positively reviewed. Potential local users should be aware of the possibility of slightly higher prices. For those who appreciate the flexibility of enjoying dim sum for dinner, Ming Tasty presents a unique option in the Sunnyvale area. Visiting the restaurant might be the best way to assess the environment and the current consistency of their food and service.

The porridge was good, but the noodles in the wonton noodles soup was soggy (over cooked). The string bean pork neck was a little salty. The garlic minced lettuce was good. We went there around 8:30pm for a late dinner, there was only one waiter serving half the restaurant, so service was slightly slow. She was working non stopped
There's dimsum dishes available even during dinner time! Everything was very yummy, if a bit pricy. The complimentary tea was actually pretty good, too. Not too weak (went for dinner) and also brewed nicely (no bitterness from overbrewed tea). I just have no idea what kind of tea it is other than it being some kind of black tea 😅
We tried to go to Saigon for Lunar New Year-Eve's dinner but did not have a reservation and didn't want to wait. So we headed here for dinner instead. This was a very pleasant find the taste is authentic Cantonese style. They even have the claypot rice! We didn't order it this time but the BBQ Duck was very flavorful -- although I personally would prefer the duck to be on a fattier side (all the duck fat/juice...yum) but the walnut shrimp and the other seafood dishes were also very nice. The lobster noodles could use a bit more flavor but it's definitely a very nice meal and we'd love to come back to try their other items.
This is really solid South China/HK food in a 100% genuine setting. Personally dislike this general location north of the 101 in a kind of No Man’s Land but our decision to go eat here late in the evening (9pm) was rewarding. The beef filet mignon stir plate was honestly amazing. Bbq pork is better here than the bbq duck. Fantastic menu to explore. Tiny bit overpriced but so is everything else post-COVID.
Ordered at the restaurant. Waited a really long time (over an hour I think). Definitely order ahead next time. We only went cause we thought about outdoor seating but it was pretty chilly and the seating plaza didn't look too good anyways. Probably should just eat takeout. The food is good and solid and I'd eat this place again for sure. Fortune there was a park nearby for us to walk around as we waited for our food.
