About Ming's Tasty

Located at 940 Webster St in Oakland, California, Ming's Tasty has established itself as a beloved destination for those seeking authentic Chinese cuisine, particularly its highly praised dim sum. As a notable establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, Ming's Tasty offers a traditional Chinese cafe experience characterized by delicious food and exceptional service. The positive reviews from loyal customers highlight its significance as a go-to spot for both classic dishes and a welcoming atmosphere.

The environment at Ming's Tasty is described as a "classic authentic Chinese cafe." This suggests a traditional and unpretentious setting where the focus is on the quality of the food and the overall dining experience rather than elaborate décor. One reviewer noted that the restaurant could be a "little loud and busy at lunch," which is often indicative of a popular and well-regarded establishment, especially one that attracts a significant number of local Chinese patrons. This bustling atmosphere can contribute to the authenticity of the cafe experience. However, the reviewer also mentioned that the ambiance soon became "quiet and relaxed" even while all the tables remained full, suggesting that while it can get lively during peak hours, it still maintains a comfortable setting for enjoying a meal.

The service at Ming's Tasty is consistently lauded as "excellent" and "friendly and fast." This emphasis on attentive and efficient service contributes significantly to the positive dining experience reported by customers. The welcoming nature of the staff makes patrons feel valued and well-cared for, enhancing their overall enjoyment of the meal. The speed of service, particularly noted during a busy lunch period, indicates an efficient operation that can cater to diners with varying time constraints without compromising on the quality of the food or the attentiveness of the staff.

The standout feature of Ming's Tasty, according to customer reviews, is its "delicious quality dim sum." For those familiar with Chinese cuisine, dim sum is a style of Cantonese food prepared as small bite-sized portions of food served in small steamer baskets or on small plates. It is a traditional part of Chinese culture, especially popular for brunch. The fact that Ming's Tasty is recognized for its high-quality dim sum suggests a mastery of these intricate and flavorful dishes, making it a must-visit for dim sum enthusiasts in the Oakland area. The closure of other favorite dim sum spots has apparently made Ming's Tasty a cherished and reliable alternative for many.

One dish that receives specific mention and high praise is the "chicken feet with Peking sauce." Chicken feet, often prepared with various sauces and seasonings, are considered a delicacy in many Asian cuisines. The recommendation to try them with Peking sauce suggests a unique and flavorful preparation that is a highlight of Ming's Tasty's menu. This willingness to offer and excel in preparing more traditional and perhaps less commonly found dishes further underscores the authenticity of the restaurant.

The fact that "all the Chinese folks eat here" is presented as a strong indicator of the restaurant's authenticity and quality. This observation suggests that Ming's Tasty is trusted and favored by those who are most familiar with and discerning about traditional Chinese cuisine. It serves as a powerful endorsement, implying that the flavors and preparations are true to their cultural roots and meet the expectations of a knowledgeable clientele.

The repeated expression of gratitude from a long-time customer, "Thank you Ming's for many delicious meals," speaks volumes about the consistent quality and satisfaction provided by the restaurant over time. This loyalty indicates that Ming's Tasty has not only provided excellent food and service on a single occasion but has maintained these standards consistently, fostering a strong relationship with its patrons.

Based on the available information, Ming's Tasty does not appear to be currently offering any specific promotional deals or discounts online. However, the consistent praise for the quality of the food and the excellence of the service, coupled with its reputation as an authentic Chinese cafe favored by locals, serves as a strong form of endorsement in itself. The fact that it has become a "go-to spot" for at least one reviewer highlights its reliability and the consistent satisfaction it provides.

For local users in Oakland seeking an authentic Chinese dining experience, particularly those with a love for high-quality dim sum, Ming's Tasty at 940 Webster St is a highly recommended destination. The friendly and fast service, the traditional cafe atmosphere, and the delicious food, including the must-try chicken feet with Peking sauce, all contribute to its positive reputation. A classic authentic Chinese cafe with delicious quality dim sum. Service was friendly and fast. You know it’s good when all the Chinese folks eat here. It was a little loud and busy at lunch but soon was quiet and relaxed, even though all the tables were full. This will be my go-to spot in Oakland.

I ordered online from Ming’s Tasty and picked up my food at the store. I tried a variety of dishes, including the pork and shrimp dumplings, steamed shrimp dumplings, baked BBQ pork buns, egg yolk custard buns, pork ribs in black bean sauce, and fried tofu skin wrap with shrimp. All of the dishes were incredibly delicious and flavorful! I highly recommend the baked BBQ pork buns—the outer crust is slightly crispy and has a delightful sweetness. Every dish with shrimp was particularly impressive, filled generously with shrimp and very satisfying.

Hesitated to leave my review here because this is the best sit down dim sum place in the Bay Area and I am afraid it gets too popular as more reviews come in. I’ve been to this place twice and it’s best to come before 11am on the weekends. Only waited for 15 mins for group of 3. Seems longer wait for large groups. The space is not big compared to other sit down dim sum places so no room for dim sum cart and everything is ordered through menu. There is a wait for the food but the service is amazing. Super friendly staffs and the food is worth the wait. Turnip cake is the best I had in the bay. Porridge is so yummy but soup dumplings is okay. Everything is so soft and the quality beats the prices compared to other places. Will definitely come back again and again!

Took a recommendation from a trusted source and stopped by to try Ming’s Tasty. The siu mai and har gao were both pretty good, large in size, and good flavor and texture. Also went with the turnip cake that tasted fresh and was a good portion. Didn’t stay to eat in the somewhat cavernous hall of dining space they have. No cart service but decent for a place that has seemingly been around a long time.
