About Ming's Buffet

Welcome to Ming's Buffet, a Chinese restaurant located at 137 E Dekalb St in Camden, South Carolina. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Ming's Buffet appears to primarily operate as a buffet-style establishment, offering a variety of Chinese dishes for customers to choose from. However, based on recent online reviews, there are significant concerns regarding the quality and freshness of the food, which potential customers should carefully consider.

One reviewer who visited for lunch around 3 pm shared a very negative experience, suggesting that the timing might have contributed to the issues. They noted that the food seemed to have been sitting out for a while, but their overall impression was that it was "worse" than just being stale. Specifically, they found the chicken to be "inedible" and left most of their meal uneaten. Upon returning to the buffet line to find an alternative, they reported that "there wasn’t anything that looked good," ultimately settling for jello for dessert. This customer speculated that their negative experience might have been due to a bad time or day but expressed uncertainty as it was their first visit to the area. They concluded by regretting their choice and wishing they had gone to the Pizza Hut across the street instead.

Another customer who ordered specific items – lemon pepper cut wings and plain fried rice – also reported a highly unsatisfactory experience. They mentioned having a "flash back so quick to why the hell I don’t order from there," implying a previous negative experience at Ming's Buffet. Their concerns began with the appearance of the chicken, noting the unusually small and cut-off wing ends. They described the wings as "salty" and the fried rice as clearly "gave rice cooker & not FRIED rice," indicating a significant deviation from the expected preparation method. This reviewer also expressed regret about their choice, stating they "Should have just took that ride to dusty bend," suggesting a preference for another dining option. The concluding remark, "But Some wild animal might be me happy for take out today," sarcastically underscores their extreme dissatisfaction with the food.

From these two recent reviews, several critical issues emerge regarding Ming's Buffet:

  • Concerns About Food Freshness: Food may have been sitting out for extended periods, especially during off-peak hours.
  • Poor Food Quality: Specific items like chicken and fried rice were described as inedible, overly salty, and not prepared as expected.
  • Unappetizing Buffet Selection: The buffet offerings were described as looking unappealing, leading a customer to opt for jello instead.
  • Misleading Menu Descriptions: The "fried rice" was reported to be cooked in a rice cooker, indicating a potential discrepancy between the name and the actual preparation.
  • Past Negative Experiences: At least one reviewer alluded to previous reasons for avoiding the restaurant.

Based on these reviews, potential customers should be aware of the significant risks associated with food quality and freshness at Ming's Buffet, particularly if visiting during non-peak hours when buffet items might have been sitting out for a while.

The environment of Ming's Buffet is not explicitly described in the reviews, but the mention of a buffet setup suggests a potentially large dining area with self-service stations. The fact that one customer went back to the buffet line to look for something appealing implies the presence of a variety of dishes laid out for selection. However, the negative comments about the food's appearance might also reflect on the overall ambiance and maintenance of the buffet area. The comparison to Pizza Hut across the street by one reviewer doesn't provide specific details about Ming's Buffet's environment but suggests it was not a more appealing option in their view.

In terms of services, Ming's Buffet primarily offers a buffet service where customers can serve themselves from a selection of prepared dishes. The second review indicates that takeout orders for specific items, such as wings and fried rice, are also available. However, the quality of these made-to-order items was also criticized. There is no mention of delivery services in the provided reviews. To confirm the full range of services, including any potential changes in offerings or hours, customers would need to contact Ming's Buffet directly using the provided phone numbers: (803) 713-0203 and +1 803-713-0203.

No promotional information is included in the available reviews. To learn about any special offers, discounts, or changes to their buffet or takeout menu, local users are advised to contact the restaurant directly. Given the negative feedback regarding food quality, it would be prudent to inquire about the freshness and preparation methods of the dishes before making a decision to dine in or order takeout.

To provide a more comprehensive introduction, information about the typical dishes offered at Ming's Buffet would be beneficial. Generally, Chinese buffets include a variety of popular items such as fried rice, lo mein, various chicken dishes (e.g., General Tso's, sesame), beef and broccoli, spring rolls, and soups. However, the specific selection and quality at Ming's Buffet appear to be areas of concern based on the recent reviews.

In conclusion, Ming's Buffet in Camden, SC, is a Chinese restaurant primarily operating as a buffet. Recent customer reviews raise significant concerns about the freshness and quality of the food, both from the buffet and for specific takeout orders. One reviewer found the buffet selection unappetizing, while another was highly dissatisfied with the prepared items. The environment is implied to be a typical buffet setting, but its appeal is questionable given the food feedback. Services include the buffet and takeout, but delivery is not mentioned. Potential customers should carefully consider these recent negative experiences before choosing to dine at Ming's Buffet and may want to inquire directly about the current food quality and preparation standards. No promotional information is currently available.

We stopped here for something different, and it was. Should not have come for lunch at 3pm seeing the food had been sitting out for a while but this was worse. The chicken was inedible and I left most of my meal on my plate. Going back to the buffet just showed there wasn’t anything that looked good so settled for some jello for dessert. Maybe just a bad time or day? I don’t know as I’ve not been through here before. But I should have gone to the Pizza Hut across the street.

I ordered the lemon pepper cut wings & plain fried rice. Lord when I tell you I had a flash back so quick to why the hell I don’t order from there. Chicken already scared me from the way it’s cut. Why the wing end so small & cut off like that? The wings were salty and the rice was most definitely gave rice cooker & not FRIED rice. Should have just took that ride to dusty bend. But Some wild animal might be me happy for take out today.

The food is pretty solid. They have just about any kind of Chinese food on the buffet. I don't like to eat buffets very often because I end up eating too much. I found that filling up a to-go box and taking it with me is the best way for me.

It's not all that. Food on bar is cold and some of it sits out to long and is dry or rubbery. Rice is hard. Ice cream is freezer burnt. Don't expect a refill on drink unless you go back to the counter. Don't waste your time, Go on to Columbia or somewhere else.

If you're NOT hungry this place is for you. They barely had anything and what they did have was either under or over cooked with a blah kind of flavor. I'd suggest that if you love Chinese food this place isn't it! What a waste of $
