About Ming Heung Dim Sum
Located at 752 Jackson St in the heart of San Francisco's bustling Chinatown, Ming Heung Dim Sum offers a budget-friendly and convenient option for those seeking a quick and affordable dim sum experience. As a Chinese restaurant specializing in dim sum, Ming Heung appears to cater primarily to customers looking for takeout, though a limited seating option is available. The reviews highlight its exceptionally low prices and the availability of a variety of dim sum items for purchase.
The environment of Ming Heung Dim Sum seems to be functional and focused on efficiency rather than elaborate ambiance. One reviewer noted that it's primarily a counter service establishment, with only one table available for customers who wish to eat on-site. This suggests a high turnover and a business model geared towards quick transactions and takeout orders. The fact that one visit around 1 pm on a weekday found the establishment not busy could indicate varying levels of foot traffic depending on the time of day. Overall, the environment appears to be simple and geared towards providing easy access to affordable dim sum.
The services at Ming Heung Dim Sum are characterized by quick counter service and a focus on on-the-go purchases. Customers can select from the dim sum items available, often displayed in trays at the counter. One reviewer described a swift transaction, completing an order of 2 steamed buns and 8 dim sum in under 5 minutes for takeout. However, another reviewer noted a potential language barrier, as the serving staff they encountered did not speak English, requiring them to point at the items they wished to order. The lack of an English menu was also mentioned, which could pose a challenge for non-Chinese speaking customers in identifying and ordering specific items not displayed. Despite these potential communication hurdles, the service seems to be efficient for those who know what they want or can easily identify items from the available selection.
Ming Heung Dim Sum's primary feature is its incredibly affordable pricing. One reviewer mentioned getting dim sum for two people for just $10, while another purchased 2 steamed buns and 8 dim sum for $9.80. These prices are explicitly highlighted as a "great deal" and "very cheap," making Ming Heung an attractive option for budget-conscious individuals and families looking for a substantial snack or light meal. The availability of a "great selection of dim sum on-the-go" suggests a variety of choices, allowing customers to sample different items. However, the quality of the dim sum is described as "medium quality only" by one reviewer, with only one out of three steamed dumplings being considered good, and the turnip cakes being just "OK." This indicates that while the prices are low, the quality might not be consistently exceptional across all items.
The selection of dim sum available at Ming Heung includes steamed dumplings, turnip cakes, and steamed buns, as mentioned in the reviews. The steamed dumplings received mixed feedback, with one being good and others presumably less so. The turnip cakes were rated as average. The steamed buns were part of a larger, affordable order that was deemed "definitely worth a visit" overall due to the price and convenience. The lack of a menu in English, however, makes it difficult to ascertain the full range of dim sum options available without being able to read Chinese or relying on visual identification of the items displayed.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews. The incredibly low prices themselves act as a significant draw and could be considered an ongoing promotion for budget-conscious customers. The focus on quick, on-the-go service and the wide selection of dim sum further enhance its appeal without the need for explicit discounts or special offers. The consistent mention of the affordability suggests that this is a key aspect of Ming Heung Dim Sum's value proposition.
For local users in San Francisco, particularly those in or visiting Chinatown, Ming Heung Dim Sum offers an exceptionally affordable way to enjoy a variety of dim sum. Located on Jackson Street, it provides a convenient option for a quick snack or light meal, primarily geared towards takeout. While the quality of the dim sum might be considered medium, the incredibly low prices make it a worthwhile consideration for those on a budget. Be prepared for counter service and the possibility of a language barrier, as there may not be an English menu, so being able to identify items visually will be helpful. If you're looking for a cheap and fast dim sum fix in Chinatown, Ming Heung Dim Sum is definitely worth checking out, especially if you prioritize price and convenience over top-tier quality and a sit-down dining experience.
To experience the affordable dim sum at Ming Heung Dim Sum, visit them at 752 Jackson St, San Francisco, CA 94133, USA. Be prepared for counter service and consider bringing cash, as some budget-friendly establishments operate on a cash-only basis. While the quality may be moderate, the incredibly low prices offer a unique opportunity to sample a variety of dim sum without breaking the bank in the heart of Chinatown.

Very cheap. $10 for dim sum for two people. Medium quality only. One of the three steamed dumplings I had was good. The turnip cakes were OK. Counter service only though they have one table to sit at.
They offer a great selection of dim sum on-the-go. First off, they weren't busy when we arrived around 1pm on a weekday, so that was nice. The lady serving us didn't speak English so we basically had to point at what we wanted. Luckily she had some trays out, otherwise I don't know how we would have been able to tell her what we wanted since there wasn't a menu in English. We ordered 2 steamed buns and 8 dim sum all for $9.80. Such a great deal! We ordered to go which put our whole transaction under 5 minutes. Definitely worth a visit!
Fast service. Pick what you want and it's boxed up right away. Pay by cash only. Great selection of traditional dim sum dishes all for cheaper than $1.50 a piece. Not too greasy but a bit on the sweet side leaving a mucus-y feeling in my mouth afterwards that traditionally could be washed down by hot tea. The ladies who worked behind the counter kept a straight face the whole time. We tried to make conversation and wish them a happy new year. No response. Sad. Oh well.
As much as I LOVE dim sum one bad visit was all it takes to get a 1 star. I've been coming to this place ever since I was a little girl. My last visit here several months ago, I notice the owner/ lady that works the front also works in the back when they aren't as busy. On my visit she was putting more of those buns and shrimp dumplings in to that round silver tray for baking. During the process and dropped a bunch on the floor. I didn't stare at her the entire time but somehow didn't make it noticeable that I saw that happened. What do you know, she picked them all back up and put them in the trays to bake. During that entire process she sneeze a few times and didn't wash her hands, no gloves whatsoever but continued to handle the buns and dumplings. That was it for me! Last visit ever and will not ever go here again! I wish the Health Department would visit them.
Stumbled upon this authentic little dim sum spot in Chinatown. They offer most of the popular dishes such as pot stickers, barbecue pork buns, shrimp dumplings, fried radish cake, spring rolls , etc. Don't be afraid to venture out and try a few new things! You might have to point to the items you want if you don't know Cantonese but this just adds to the authenticity. We got enough food for a lunch for 2 for only about $10. A welcome bargain compared to dining in most of the rest of SF.
