About Ming Garden

Ming Garden is a Chinese restaurant located at 1151 N Broad St, New Orleans, LA 70119, USA. They can be contacted at (504) 482-2400 or +1 504-482-2400.

As a Chinese takeout restaurant, Ming Garden appears to be a popular choice for locals, with many customers ordering frequently. The broccoli chicken is a consistently well-received dish. The Thai curry shrimp is also highlighted as a delicious option. The Szechuan tofu, however, seems to have some variability in preparation, with some instances featuring perfectly crispy tofu in a flavorful sauce, while others have been reported as soft or soggy. Some customers also desire a spicier version of the Szechuan tofu and resort to adding chili oil at home.

According to reviews, the vegetables in the dishes are generally colorful and fresh. The spring rolls are described as standard and likely homemade. The hot 'n' sour soup is noted for its rich flavor and smooth texture. Popular dishes include the Kung Pao Chicken and Szechuan Chicken. However, a past experience in June 2024 mentioned a pork dish that was skimpy on protein, with small, dry pieces of pork.

Despite some inconsistencies, Ming Garden is considered a respectable American Chinese takeout option, especially for those in the Bywater area. While the selection of vegetarian appetizers might be limited, the overall quality and variety of main dishes make it a favored choice for many seeking convenient Chinese food in New Orleans.

We order here pretty often, so it’s obviously not bad at all. My spouse is always happy with the broccoli chicken. I love the Thai curry shrimp, always delicious. Half the time the Szechuan tofu is great, perfectly crispy tofu in a lightly spicy thick sauce with good veggies. The other half of the time the tofu comes pretty soft/soggy. I also wish it were spicier, I’ve tried ordering it extra spicy but ultimately just add chili oil at home. My kids don’t recommend the boneless ribs, my spouse said they were ok but don’t reheat well. The spring rolls are exactly what you’d expect, I’d love a couple more veg appetizers but I know that’s asking a lot. Ultimately it’s a very respectable takeout choice.

The vegetables are colorful and fresh, as is everything else. Spring rolls appear to be homemade, the hot 'n' sour soup is rich in flavor and silky smooth. Our favorites are Kung Pao Chicken and Szechuan Chicken. The last time we ordered a pork dish (June 2024), they skimped on the protein, which was little slivers of dry pork. Regardless, Ming Garden remains our go-to American Chinese takeout restaurant near the Bywater.

The food quantity and quality is 5 stars, but the only reason why I gave it 3 stars is because everything is so sweet. For this price they gave a lot of food. I did take out garlic chicken and General Tao's chicken. Both were terribly sugary. I'd be concerned for anyone with diabetes eating these. Please reduce the sugar content in savory dishes, make it more spicy and salty. Or else everything was great, they were friendly.

The portions are amazing exclamation. Poi've already had two meals and will probably get a third out of what they sell you! The dinners are well seasoned and flavourful. The hot and spicy soup is some of the best I have ever had
