About Ming China

Ming China is a Chinese restaurant located at 3 S Main St in Newport, NH 03773, USA, serving the local community with a variety of Asian cuisine options. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Ming China offers both takeout and potentially dine-in services, although the focus of the available reviews is primarily on the takeout experience. Customer feedback presents a somewhat mixed view, with positive comments regarding service and the quality of some takeout items contrasted by strong negative feedback concerning specific dishes.

One customer review indicates a positive experience with takeout from Ming China. They noted that "the food is good" for takeout and specifically mentioned that "the gentleman that waited on me was nice," further stating that the "service is good." This suggests that at least some customers have found the takeout food to be satisfactory and have appreciated the politeness and efficiency of the staff they interacted with during the order and pick-up process. This positive feedback highlights a potential strength of Ming China in providing a pleasant takeout experience.

However, another more detailed review presents a significantly different perspective, raising serious concerns about the quality of certain dishes. This customer recounted a very negative experience with the beef teriyaki, describing it as "horribly dry, hard and limp." They expressed disbelief at the possibility of spending $70 or $80 for two people and receiving food that they deemed "inedible." This strong condemnation of a specific dish should be a significant consideration for potential customers, particularly those considering ordering beef teriyaki.

The same reviewer also questioned the existence of 5-star reviews for the establishment, suggesting a potential discrepancy between some online ratings and their personal experience. They advised those who "know what good food is" to "avoid this place," indicating a strong overall dissatisfaction with their meal. This level of negative feedback suggests that the quality of food at Ming China may be inconsistent or that certain dishes may not meet the expectations of some customers.

Interestingly, this critical review did offer some nuanced feedback by mentioning that the "chicken teriyaki is ok and also the chicken fingers," noting that "it hard to dry out chicken." This suggests that while the beef teriyaki was a major disappointment, other items on the menu might be of acceptable quality. However, the overall recommendation from this reviewer remains negative due to the poor quality of the beef teriyaki and the perceived high cost for an inedible dish.

The stark contrast between the two available reviews makes it challenging to form a definitive overall opinion of Ming China. One customer found the takeout food good and the service pleasant, while another experienced a significant issue with a specific dish to the point of deeming it inedible and questioning the overall quality of the food relative to the price. This discrepancy could indicate variability in food preparation, ingredient quality, or perhaps differences in individual preferences and expectations.

The information provided does not include any details about the restaurant's environment, such as its ambiance or cleanliness. Similarly, there is no mention of any specific services beyond takeout, such as dine-in or delivery options. Promotional information, such as discounts or special offers, is also absent from the provided text. Therefore, any assessment must be based solely on the limited customer feedback available.

In conclusion, Ming China in Newport, NH, appears to be a Chinese restaurant that has provided a positive takeout experience for at least one customer, who praised the food and service. However, another customer reported a severely negative experience with the beef teriyaki, describing it as inedible and expressing overall disappointment with the food quality relative to the cost. This contrasting feedback suggests that the quality of food at Ming China may be inconsistent, or that certain dishes may not meet expectations. Potential customers, particularly those considering ordering beef teriyaki, should be aware of the strongly negative review. While other items like chicken teriyaki and chicken fingers were mentioned as being "ok," the overall recommendation from one reviewer was to avoid the restaurant. Given the limited and conflicting information, it may be prudent for potential customers to consider these points carefully and perhaps seek more recent reviews to gain a broader understanding of the current customer experience at Ming China. Horribly dry, hard and limp beef teriyaki (see photo below). To spend $70 or $80 for two people and get food that is inedible. Not sure why there are 5 star reviews. If you know what good food is, avoid this place. This is why so many restaurants go out of business. The chicken teriyaki is ok and also the chicken fingers, but it hard to dry out chicken. Not recommend.

Crab rangoons are my favorite and they are not good here. The dumplings were miniature but tasty and there was a good amount of them. I thought $10.00 for fried rice was also a bit steep, and the order didn’t come with white rice like most Chinese places do. The chicken pad Thai was good.

Always a great experience when we've gotten food. The young kid out front could use a little time away from his iPad though when dealing with customers. Other than that great food

We ordered the "lunch combo" for lunch "at lunch time". When we go pickup the order we are charged for the "dinner combo"! This is not the first time they have pulled this scam. Maybe they should have someone that speaks English answer the phone and take orders. We have not gone back again, the food wasn't that good anyway.
