Minami Sushi (횟집)

It was definately worth driving 1 hour from my home. This place imports fresh Korean fish directly air-shipped from Korea. It is a must sushi place if you want to try Korean style sashimi called "hwae" We had "A course" for 4 people which was $230, but the amount food was more than enough, we could not finish last bowl of rice with Spicy Korean fish soup called "Maeuntang" Every bite was a masterpiece and the fish was incredibly fresh and melted in my mouth, and the presentation was stunning. I was especially impressed by the variety of options and the chef’s attention to detail. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the staff were so friendly and attentive. Whether you’re a sushi lover or new to it, this place will blow you away. Hands down, the best sushi I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to come back!”

Came for lunch and the value goes crazy. Their sushi is very high quality and rice is well seasoned. The music and vibes are nice, very clean/modern.

Fresh ingredients every time! The Crab Rangoon was so good! The Chirashi sushi bowl had a generous serving of thick sliced sashimi with just the right amount of seasoning on the rice. The dinner bento is always a favorite, normally we order chicken teriyaki but this time we got the Chicken katsu dinner bento and it did not disappoint. Minami is the number one pick for our family celebrations. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a place to eat.

This place has the freshest, best Korean style raw fish I've ever had. Unfortunately they did not have the fluke this time, but the assorted sashimi is great as well. Not only is the quality of the seafood really fresh, but all the hot dishes are cooked to perfection as well, both the appetizers on the Korean course menu and the Japanese menu. It is quite honestly the best Sushi/Hoe resturaunt I've ever been to in this area. It's expensive but you pay for quality.

If you want their Korean style "Hwae" course, there is a separate room in the back with tables that have built-in electric stoves for Maeun-Tang. Even though they seem to have excellent reviews for their sushi and maki, we wanted to try their Korean style "Hwae" which is not so commonly found in Illinois. Overall, we would give two big thumbs up for "Hwae" and Maeun- Tang, but we thought other areas could have some improvements in quality. It's definitely a place I would visit once in a while.
