About Mei Wei

Mei Wei is a Chinese restaurant located at 30340 FM2978 #200 in The Woodlands, Texas. They can be contacted at (281) 298-6882 or +1 281-298-6882.

Many customers have found the food at Mei Wei to be great, often opting for the convenience of calling ahead or ordering online for pickup, with consistent reports of orders being ready on time. This reliability in fulfilling timely orders is a notable feature for those prioritizing efficiency.

Mei Wei is considered by some to offer more than standard Chinese takeout. The food is described as tastier, with a better menu, and prepared with more care, elevating it beyond typical takeout fare. While not strictly traditional or authentic like homemade Asian dishes, it offers a distinct and appreciated level of quality. Customers have also consistently praised the friendliness of the staff and the great service provided.

However, another customer's experience presented a more neutral perspective, describing the restaurant as "pretty much the definition of mid." While the food served its purpose, it wasn't particularly outstanding. One family member reportedly felt "grossed out" by shrimp that tasted like dirt, while another found the honey coconut chicken initially good but overwhelmingly sweet after a few bites. The orange chicken was considered the best of the meals, though still just "mid" with a mild flavor that often required added salt. On a positive note, the service was highlighted as attentive and friendly, with proactive drink refills and provision of necessities. The atmosphere was described as just okay, with some cleanliness issues noted, such as dirty blinds. Despite this, the restaurant served its purpose of providing a meal.

In summary, Mei Wei offers elevated Chinese takeout with reliable and friendly service. While some dishes receive higher praise than others, and the atmosphere may have some minor drawbacks, it remains a popular choice for many in The Woodlands area.

Great food. We typically call ahead or order online and pick it up. Food has ALWAYS been ready on time; this is important to me, not wasting anyone's time. It's hard to call this standard Chinese take out since it is much tastier, has a better menu and a bit more love put into the dishes. I'd call it elevated, not quite traditional or authentic like the Asian dishes my family makes at home, but definitely a different level than standard takeout. People are super friendly, service is great. Keep up the great work. I'll be back many times in the future.

This restaurant is pretty much the definition of mid in the kindest way possible. It was just okay. It fed us. I went with my family and it wasn't bad or good. My mother did leave feeling grossed out, I didn't try her plate, but apparently the shrimp tasted like it had dirt. My brother got the honey coconut chicken (I think that's what it's called?), I thought it was good with the first bite. Kind of tasted like it had the sauce from the coconut shrimp at Red lobster. But he said it was too sweet and got overwhelming after the first few bites. I got the orange chicken and it was the best of the meals, so perhaps that's why I'm being so lenient with this review. Still, best was just mid. It was okay, I thought it was decent but the flavor was very mild? Most of the things needed salt added. Service was great, our server was attentive and refilled drinks and brought napkins and stuff without them being asked for. He was friendly. The atmosphere was also just okay. A bit dirty as I sat in the booth seat next to some... Really dirty blinds. But it's not horrible, and it fed us. 80 something bucks with three people and tip.

Both of the meals I got from this restaurant have been to go and were past a typical lunch time... around 2 or 3 pm. That could be my mistake, but after getting two different dishes, I don't think I will be returning. The first dish was chicken lo mein, and it was really not good at all. It was hot. It was fresh. But the flavor was really not good. I've had lo mein literally all over the USA and in Korea and Japan. This ranked in the lowest 20%. The next time I went, which was a few weeks later, was to get pad thai chicken to go. Again, it was hot... it was fresh... but the flavor was not good at all. It's more like absent. Pad Thai noodles typically have a sauce with peanut in it... some kind of consistency This was a clear, broth-like liquid with some ground up peanuts thrown in as an afterthought. It was probably the worst pad thai I've ever had. I could taste chicken, the noodles themselves, and that's about it. To finish it, I thought of something other than pad thai while I ate it. Its totally possible I picked the two dishes that are not their best. I don't know. But, I won't be returning. I hope it was just two bad days for them and that their norm is much better.

The food was just okay. I ordered the "healthy chicken, shrimp & vegetables." The shrimp tasted like dirt, literally. My daughter got the orange chicken, which was good. The service was great, but we probably won't go back.

Dined here with a group of 20 during a field trip & was pleasantly surprised. At my end of the table, the wait-staff helped coach the kids. They toned down the spice levels to be accommodating to the young palates. I would have appreciated the spice, personally. Appetizers came out quickly, some kids were waiting on their entrees for a bit, yet pretty much all seemed to enjoy what they received.. one child had 3 servings of wonton soup! There were Thai, Chinese and Japanese options and the lunch specials were filling. My child & I tried the tempora shrimp (perfect), Tom Yum soup (good), chicken coconut soup (very coconutty), orange chicken (very good) & the thai chicken with basil & chiles (one of my favorites). Next time I'll ask for extra chile sauce on the side, cuz I like spicy Thai!
