Customer reviews for Mayflower Chinese Restaurant present contrasting experiences. One customer who ordered lunch specials reported significant dissatisfaction with the food quality. They described issues with a chicken tender special where the chicken was unidentifiable, and a General Tso chicken special, along with fries, a shrimp roll, and rice, all tasting greasy, with stale breading, and being inedible. This customer ultimately discarded both meals.

In contrast, another customer who dined at the restaurant found the food to be "perfect" and the staff delightful and helpful with ordering, also checking on their satisfaction. This reviewer also commented on the typical takeout-focused setup of many Asian restaurants, suggesting the atmosphere might not be a primary concern for the owner.

For local users considering Mayflower Chinese Restaurant, it's important to note the varied feedback. While one customer had a very negative experience with the food, another reported a positive dine-in experience with good food and service. This suggests a potential inconsistency in food quality or varying experiences for different customers. It may be prudent to consider these contrasting reviews when making your decision.

Went for lunch and ended up getting to meals one for lunch and one for dinner. Spent $13+ on two specials. The person at the counter was pleasant and friendly. The food was disgusting. I thought I ordered a chicken wing and fries special and a general tso chicken lunch special. I apparently ordered the chicken tender special. To my surprise I couldn’t identify a chicken tender nor a chicken wing that I thought I’d ordered. I called to see if I could return that order and get what I wanted which was the wings. The person on the phone was nice and she spoke to someone about the misorder. They informed me to throw it away and I would have to pay $7 more for the wings that I thought I had order. I decided to no bother with it as the “tenders” were a huge turn off and was just going to make due with the other item. but everything took a turn once I tasted the fries and a piece of the general tso chicken. Everything tasted like grease. Gallons of grease. And hard stale breading. It was not edible. The rice was dry and stiff. The shrimp roll was bland and dry. I hardly saw cabbage when I broke it. This was such a huge disappointment as not only did I not have lunch I didn’t have dinner and wasted $13 because both dishes went in the trash just as you see in the picture.

I’m not really sure the owner is worried about the Atmosphere because most Asian restaurants are setup for takeout only. I ate here and my food tasted perfect. The staff were delightful and very helpful with ordering and asking if everything was okay!

I recently ordered General Tso’s chicken with shrimp fried rice and white rice, and unfortunately, it was a complete disappointment. The General Tso’s chicken was both burnt and runny—like it had been sitting in a food warmer all day. Instead of the crispy, flavorful coating you’d expect, it was soggy and overcooked, making it completely unappetizing. The rice wasn’t any better. Both the shrimp fried rice and the white rice were mushy, lacking any texture or freshness. It seemed like they had been overcooked or left sitting for too long. Overall, the food was completely inedible, and I wouldn’t order from here again. It's definitely not worth the money.

I got takeout tonight from here for the first time and I’d say it was the best general tso chicken and chicken lo mein that I’ve had in a long time! My husband had the chicken fried rice and he really liked his too. This will definitely be a ‘go to’ spot for us:

This place sells decent Chinese food but they always give me the wrong order. Never ask me if I want white or fried rice, and the atmosphere is concerning. If you get food here make sure you CHECK the bag before you PAY
