The true highlight of May May Hong Kong BBQ, as indicated by customer feedback, is its authentic Hong Kong-style barbecue. The roast duck, in particular, receives high praise, with one reviewer stating it "satisfied my craving" and hailed it as the "star of the show." This suggests that May May excels in preparing this classic dish, making it a must-try for those who appreciate expertly roasted poultry with crispy skin and flavorful meat. This indicates a generally satisfactory quality across their broader menu, even if certain specialties like the roast duck stand out. It's worth noting that the availability of certain items, such as the BBQ pork, can fluctuate based on the time of day and customer demand, suggesting the restaurant prepares its barbecue fresh.

The menu also features other popular Chinese-American dishes like Gen Tso's Chicken, which one customer found to be "really good," highlighting the big, well-fried pieces of breaded chicken and the "nice sauce." Interestingly, this reviewer requested a high level of spice (5/5 heat) but found the dish to be quite mild, which might be something to consider for those with specific spice preferences. Other dishes enjoyed by customers include the Salt and Pepper Fried Chicken and the Mongolian Beef, both described as "delicious."

A particularly noteworthy dish mentioned in the reviews is the Beef Sate Hot Pot with Glass Noodles, which was described as a "showstopper." This suggests a flavorful and visually appealing dish that leaves a lasting impression. The inclusion of hot pot options indicates a willingness to offer more diverse and interactive dining experiences beyond standard stir-fries and barbecue.

To complement the savory dishes, May May Hong Kong BBQ also offers beverage options to cater to different preferences. Milk teas with raspberry jelly were mentioned as a choice for younger diners ("Millenials"), while beer was available for others. I’ve been searching for roast duck & roast pork that isn’t all the way in Seattle. We went an hour before closing and they ran out of roast pork but we got the roast duck and it satisfied my craving! We also got chow mein, sweet&sour chicken, honey walnut prawns & honey garlic pork. I would say the roast duck was the star of the show. I’m a big fan of honey walnut prawns and they were okay, small portion. Everything else was decent. I will be going back to try the roast pork.

We came in after lunch, so the place was pretty quiet. The server was polite, very nice, and got our orders right away. They were out of the BBQ pork at that point, but had some cooking, so we did have thst before we were done. I had the Gen Tso's Chicken which was really good - big well fried pieces of breaded chicken in a nice sauce (note: I requested 5/5 heat, but they made it pretty mild). Other dishes were the Salt and Pepper Fried Chicken and the Mongolian Beef which were delicious, and the Beef Sate Hot Pot with Glass Noodles, which was a showstopper! Milk teas with raspberry jelly for the Millenials and beer for the old folks, everyone came away happy! Worth driving a bit. Will be back!

May May Hong Kong BBQ is a highly-regarded destination for outstanding Chinese BBQ. Conveniently located across from the Commons of Federal Way, the restaurant serves BBQ pork with a perfect balance of sweetness and side pork with an optimal salt content. The side pork was previously slightly salty. Patrons can choose to dine inside or opt for takeout, although it is recommended to call ahead or arrive early, as the restaurant occasionally sells out of BBQ. On New Year's Day, I was fortunate to find the restaurant open and was able to purchase 3 pounds of BBQ pork and half a pound of side pork, which was the remaining quantity available. The price for BBQ pork is $12.95 per pound, and side pork is $13.95 per pound. My total expenditure, including tax and gratuity, came to $64.00 for takeout. I provide this information to offer a rough estimate of costs. It would go up eventually due to inflation. I highly recommend May May Hong Kong BBQ to anyone visiting the Federal Way area. The restaurant offers ample parking and is conveniently located adjacent to Domino's Pizza.

The 3 item bbq, salt and pepper pork chops and beef chow fun were excellent. The Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce could have been cut up into smaller pieces but it was also good. I like the old Chinese way that they box up your leftovers for you. We no longer have to go to the International district to get good Cantonese food.

We’ve been to May May twice now and had takeout twice too. It’s so nice to have a reliably good neighborhood Chinese restaurant. The food is always ready quickly and the staff is incredibly friendly. The garlic green beans are always delicious and we really enjoy getting the three bbq plate with roast pork, bbq pork, and roast duck. They are very kid friendly and have highchairs and booster seats. The bathroom does not have a diaper changing table.
