About May Hong Restaurant

May Hong Restaurant, located at 36690 Garfield Rd, Clinton Twp, MI 48035, USA, is a Chinese restaurant that has quickly become a favorite for many. They can be contacted at (586) 948-9401 or +1 586-948-9401 and offer both dine-in and carry-out services.

Customers consistently praise the friendly and pleasant staff at May Hong, who are noted for creating a cozy atmosphere and engaging with diners through jokes and stories. The kitchen's craftsmanship is also well-regarded, with customers expressing satisfaction when trying different dinner dishes.

The restaurant appears to have a relaxed environment, with one reviewer noting it was quiet around 5 or 6 PM, though more patrons arrived later along with several carry-out orders. The service experience included immediate attention from someone assumed to be the owner. However, there was a slight communication issue observed by one customer, where they were asked to repeat their entire order shortly after placing it.

Appetizers and soups received positive feedback. The egg drop soup was described as hot with perfect consistency, and the crab rangoon, while noted as possibly having a lot of cream cheese, paired well with the sweet and sour sauce. A standout item mentioned was the homemade dumplings, considered a favorite and a welcome find for those seeking non-frozen options. Both the egg rolls and spring rolls were reported as perfect, with delicious fillings and a particularly crisp and flaky crust on the spring roll.

While there was a bit of a wait for the main dinner courses, customers felt it was worth it. The duck sai woo was described as very filling with a tasty sauce and plenty of vegetables. The almond chicken was also well-received, though one diner was too full to eat much of it. Portions for dinner are generous, often providing enough for leftovers. A customary fortune cookie is also offered. Overall, based on recent reviews, May Hong Restaurant is highly recommended for its friendly service, delicious homemade appetizers, and satisfying main courses with ample portions.

May Hong has quickly become a favorite dinner spot. The staff are friendly and pleasant; they make this place cozy and are happy to crack a joke or share a story. We like to try different dinner dishes and have always been satisfied by the craftsmanship from the kitchen. 💛

We went here around 5 or 6 and it was pretty quiet. Only one table was seated but a few more came in while we were here plus multiple carry-out orders. We were immediately served by whom I'm assuming is the owner. A little while after we placed our order someone came and asked us to repeat our entire order (either to put it in the system for the bill, or to start bringing the food out.) They were the only staff on the floor and it seemed there wasn't very good communication between them. We were brought our soup immediately after. The egg drop was hot and perfect consistency. Then came our crab rangoon, which seemed a little heavy on cream cheese but went beautifully with the sweet and sour. Next, they brought the dumplings, which I understand to be made in store (I've been trying to find a place that didn't use frozen dumplings or gyoza.) They were absolutely delicious, probably my favorite of the night. We got both egg rolls and spring rolls (yes we ordered a lot of apps,) and both were perfect. The filling was delicious and especially the crust of the spring roll was crisp and flaky. There was a bit of a wait for our dinners, but it was worth the wait. The duck sai woo was very filling with a tasty sauce and plenty of vegetables. My wife got the almond chicken, and though she was too full to eat much of it, it was perfect. We had more than enough food for leftovers as the dinner portions are plenty by themselves. There's always room for the fortune cookie, though. We definitely plan to return soon.

First and last visit! (Several months ago) People out there that have had a similar experience I want you to know now that they're not alone👎🏻 After concluding business at Verizon I walked over to get LoMain carry-out. The hostess was much more interested in flirting with a gentleman sitting at a booth in the back LH corner then being curtious and making a good first impression with me. I waited a long time, she didn't even bother to check in back on my order till she remembered that I was still there. Relieved to get my food, I got out quickly without looking at it and drove home, close by. Looking at what I got back home I was confused. This House Special LoMain was DROWNED in brown gravy, "Sauce?". All the same I gave it a taste 😜 I ended up separating the "Sauce" from the bulk of the meal, rinsing it, and reheated with a little butter and seasoning. Deciding to forget about it, I let it go at the time. But it's continued to bother me😒

Bad service. Got diarrhea. Our young waitress was so obviously frustrated and rude that the atmosphere of the restaurant was very awkward. She wasn’t only rude to us, she was rude to everyone in the restaurant including other workers. It was a hassle just to get water without her complaining. I feel bad because everyone else was at least trying. I understand that carry out is their primary means of serving food, and Dine-in isn’t usually that busy, but the rudeness was uncalled for. The food might have even been better than I’m remembering if our waitress wasn’t so rude. Soup was good though.

My husband and I decided to dine in for our first experience here. Everything was great! The prices were fair, and the portions were sizable. I really enjoyed my sweet & sour chicken and terriaki chicken combination plate. We are looking forward to trying more things on the menu!
