About May Flower

Welcome to May Flower, your go-to destination for authentic Chinese cuisine in the heart of Chicago. Nestled at 5240 N Pulaski Rd M, our restaurant offers a delightful dining experience that combines traditional flavors with a warm, inviting ambiance. Whether you're a local foodie or just exploring the world of Chinese cuisine, May Flower promises to deliver a memorable meal.

Our menu features a wide array of Cantonese dishes, including classic appetizers, main courses, and our famous dim sum selections. Each dish is crafted with care, using high-quality ingredients to bring out the true flavors of China. From succulent Kung Pao Chicken to tender Mongolian Beef, every bite is a testament to our commitment to quality and tradition.

One of the standout features of May Flower is our dim sum selection. Perfect for lunch or dinner, our dim sum items are prepared fresh daily, ensuring they retain their flavor and texture. Whether you're sharing a meal with friends or family, our variety of small plates offers something for everyone's taste buds.

Our restaurant is also known for its homestyle cooking, which has won the hearts of many regular customers. Dishes like our shrimp fried rice and egg foo young are particularly popular, praised for their flavor and presentation. While our wonton soup may not be the star of the show, it consistently delivers a satisfying start to any meal.

May Flower is more than just a restaurant; it's a point of interest in the neighborhood. Our cozy interior and limited seating create a welcoming atmosphere where you can enjoy your meal with friends or family. However, please note that during peak times, there may be a wait due to the high demand for our food. But rest assured, the wait is worth it!

Customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the consistency and flavor of our dishes. One customer mentioned, "The food is really good and very consistent. The egg rolls are delicious." Another added, "We liked the gravy being separate. A lousy egg foo young is often covered in the gravy. This one was excellent, and didn't need the gravy!" These testimonials highlight the dedication we have to delivering exceptional quality.

Our hours of operation make us a convenient choice for dining out. Open Monday through Friday from 11:00 AM to late evening, and on weekends during peak hours, May Flower is here to satisfy your cravings when you need us most. Unfortunately, we are closed on Tuesdays, giving our team a well-deserved break.

If you're in the Chicago area and looking for a taste of authentic Chinese cuisine, look no further than May Flower. Food is really good, and very consistent. Eggs rolls are delicious. Our only complaint with the food is that they give you chicken fried rice. We far prefer shrimp fried rice. The chicken doesn't add much taste. The dishes we got were Kung Pao Chicken, and Mongolian Beef, not spicy. Both were excellent. We also had shrimp egg foo young, which was excellent. We liked the grvy being separate. A lousy egg foo young is often covered in the gravy. This one was excellent, and didn't need the gravy! Wonton soup was OK. Not the best, not the worst. Fortunately for us, the restaurant isn't close to home or we would be here every other day. Be patient. They have a lot of carryout orders and sometimes the wait can be a half hour or more, but your food will be piping hot and crisp when it's ready.

Small place with limited seating. The food is very good, but takes a little while to be served. The food is worth the wait, though. Good deal for the money.

I had the Mongolian chicken and it was very good. I decided to eat there which was probably a mistake. Tables were dirty and sticky even the dine in tray was sticky. Plants are dead seats have rust on them and they store the supplies in eating area also. If the eating area is not maintained then I'm pretty sure the cooking area isn't either.

You typica smalll takeout Chinese food restaurant. They have a couple tables if you want to eat inside while takeout is the majority of the orders. They been at this location for a long time even through the pandemic which means they clearly are getting repeat customers like me. Love their Mongolian Chicken or Beef and free crab Rangoon with an order above $30 or $40. Fried rice isn't greasy and just the right amount of soy sauce added

Complete rip off and total liars!!! Ordered S27 salt and pepper cod....got anchovies instead. I was told that was the only fish they had (but they still charged me $14). Thickly sauced dishes and unappetizing. Worst 3 dish dinner ever had. Been there before and it was bad but was only restaurant open late. Noisy environment. Never going back there.
