About May Dragon Chinese Restaurant 五福樓
May Dragon Chinese Restaurant 五福樓 is located at 4848 Belt Line Rd, Dallas, TX 75254, USA, and offers meal delivery services. They can be contacted at (972) 392-9998 or +1 972-392-9998. Customer reviews present contrasting opinions on this establishment.
One recent customer reported an unpleasant experience despite the waiter (Chris) being nice and polite. They ordered salt & pepper prawns and beef chow fun noodles, finding the plating to be "BAD." They were particularly critical of the price, paying "$25 for just one dish" which consisted of 10 shrimp, deeming the taste "mid" but the price "extremely outrageous." They felt the poor plating was inconsistent with the restaurant's attempt to appear high-end. The beef chow fun noodles were described as "SALTY!!!" with the reviewer suspecting excessive salt usage. They concluded that paying $45 for two dishes of "Americanized Chinese food" was not worth the time and money and advised others to "Avoid at all cost" due to many better and cheaper alternatives.
Conversely, another customer reported visiting for years and had a positive experience during a recent late Mother's Day lunch. They and their party ordered lunch specials that included a spring roll and a choice of steamed or fried rice. As the restaurant was not busy, the food and service were quick. This reviewer found the orange beef "good as always" and the fried rice "ok," but enjoyed the cucumbers served with it. Their group also ordered and enjoyed egg drop soup, hot and sour soup, crab rangoon, general tsaos chicken, orange chicken, and sesame chicken, with everyone leaving full. While they felt lunch was "a bit pricey" (more than they remembered), they were pleased to find Roy Rogers and Shirley Temple on the drink menu, which "made me happy and just made the meal a bit better."
Based on these reviews, May Dragon Chinese Restaurant 五福樓 in Dallas, TX, appears to offer inconsistent experiences. While a long-time customer found their recent visit for lunch enjoyable with quick service and generally good food, albeit a bit pricey, a first-time visitor had a very negative experience with poorly plated, overpriced, and overly salty dishes. The environment is implied to be attempting a high-end look, which clashed with the poor plating in one customer's opinion. Services include dine-in and likely meal delivery. Features include lunch specials and a drink menu with nostalgic options like Roy Rogers and Shirley Temple. However, potential drawbacks include potentially high prices for the quality and plating, and inconsistent food preparation (e.g., excessive salt). No specific promotional information is available.

Wanted to give it a try because I’m in the area but the experience was not very pleasant. Services were fine, the waiter (Chris) was nice and polite. The food was not good at all, I ordered 2 dishes: salt&pepper prawns and Beef chow fun noodles. The plating was BAD. And I paid $25 for just one dish. Yes you looked correctly, they charged a whopping $25 for 10 pieces of shrimps. The taste was mid but the plating and the price were extremely outrageous. Poor plating doesn’t get along with elegant environments since you guys trying to make the restaurant “LOOK LIKE” high end. The other dish was SALTY!!! I am 100% sure that the chef put too much salt into the noodle. Well, consider all the cooks back in the kitchen are Mexicans because the owner was greedy. I paid $45 for two dishes, yes, now you have to spend $45 at an Americanized Chinese food restaurant for only two dishes. This place is not worth your time and money. Avoid at all cost, there are so many other choices that you can spend way less money to actually enjoy the food!
We’ve been visiting for years, but had lunch there today for a late mother’s day. We all had lunch specials that came with a spring roll and steamed or fried rice. They weren’t very busy as we got there kind of late for lunch so the food and service were quick. I had the orange beef which was good as always. The fried rice was ok, but I did like the cucumbers that were served with it. We also ordered egg drop soup, hot and sour soup, crab rangoon, general tsaos chicken, orange chicken and sesame chicken. Everyone left full. It was a bit pricey for lunch - more than I remembered, but they had roy rogers and shirley temple on the drink menu, which made me happy and just made the meal a bit better. :)
We decided to visit this place due to a recommendation from our friend Eric Olschwanger. It did not disappoint! The food was delicious and served very quickly after ordering, the waiter was engaging and funny, and the atmosphere was very nice. We'll definitely be back when we are in the area!
$21.65 for this. Taste like nothing. I didn’t ask for white sauce. Steamed rice container isn’t even full. Shrimp and broccoli normally comes with brown sauce. Giving them 5 stars for service because the lady that took my order was nice. Food quality and taste not good. Won’t be going back.
I am slightly at loss for words on this one. The food was so bland and visually unappealing that I had to throw it away. I got fried rice with my General Tso chicken, but the "fried rice" was white rice covered in soy sauce. The chicken was mainly chicken with no vegetables and the nuggets were covered in some type of orange sauce that smelled and almost tasted like Buffalo sauce you would put on wings. The pickup did include a nice assortment of utensils, sauced and fried chips. The people seemed very nice, and order was ready on time. I would love to see them elevate their dishes.
