About Max Orient 1155 E Battlefield RD
Max Orient, situated at 1155 E Battlefield Rd Suite 100 in Springfield, Missouri, stands as a local Chinese restaurant offering a variety of dishes for dine-in and takeout. As part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Max Orient aims to provide a convenient and flavorful option for those seeking Chinese cuisine in the Springfield area. This introduction will offer an objective overview of the restaurant based on available customer feedback, touching upon aspects of the food, service, and environment, where information is available.
While specific details about the restaurant's ambiance and décor at the Battlefield Road location are not extensively described in the provided reviews, one customer notes a preference for this location over a mall location due to its more peaceful atmosphere. This suggests that the Battlefield Road location may offer a quieter and potentially more relaxed dining environment compared to a busier mall setting. However, further specifics regarding the interior design, seating arrangements, or overall ambiance are not available from the given information.
Max Orient primarily functions as a restaurant serving prepared Chinese dishes, likely offering both dine-in and takeout services given its physical address. One positive review mentions the kindness of the employees, indicating a potentially friendly and helpful service experience. The availability of takeout is implied, as customers often order specific dishes to enjoy elsewhere. However, details regarding specific services such as delivery options, online ordering, or catering are not mentioned in the provided feedback.
A significant feature of Max Orient, highlighted in the customer reviews, is its menu, which includes several popular dishes. The Bourbon Chicken combo, often ordered with fried rice and an egg roll, is repeatedly praised as "amazing" and consistently good. This suggests that the Bourbon Chicken is a specialty and a favorite among some patrons. The Crab Rangoon is also mentioned positively for its flavor. These dishes appear to be key offerings that customers enjoy.
However, one review raises a notable concern regarding the consistency and execution of certain dishes. The customer specifically points out a discrepancy between the Kung Pao Beef pictured online and what was received in person, describing the actual dish as "Spicy Beef" that tasted boiled and uninspiring, even chewy. This feedback indicates potential issues with recipe execution or consistency in preparing certain menu items. The reviewer also found the beef dish to be a "poor execution" and the recipe "terrible," contrasting sharply with the positive remarks about the Bourbon Chicken and Crab Rangoon.
Interestingly, one reviewer appreciates that Max Orient does not serve chicken nuggets with sauce, a "feature" they have observed in other Chinese restaurants in Springfield. This suggests that Max Orient may focus on more traditional or authentic Chinese cuisine offerings compared to some other local establishments.
Another positive aspect mentioned is the value for money. A customer states that the restaurant offers a large quantity of food for an inexpensive price, often filling the plate for under $10. This suggests that Max Orient may be considered an affordable dining option, providing generous portions for the price.

Customer Reviews
The issue is with what I thought I was ordering versus what I was given. The Kung Pao Beef pictured here on Google Maps is nothing like what you will receive. I was told that I was given "Spicy Beef" so maybe they messed up and did not give me the right thing. However, I called them on it, and they politely said that this is their Kung Pao Beef. Compare the two photos for yourself and ask yourself which one you would prefer. Otherwise, I do appreciate what this restaurant is serving from a flavor and quality perspective. I like the Crab Rangoon. Their specialty Bourbon Chicken was very tender and perfect. Believe me, the food is tasty. However, I even tried the beef, but very uninspiring and boring, even possibly chewy. Tastes boiled rather than stir fried. This is poor execution, and the whole recipe is just terrible. I just want to note that I am very glad this restaurant does NOT serve chicken nuggets with sauce on them that I have seen. Why does Springfield have this "feature" in all Chinese cuisine restaurants?
I love this place! The one at the mall and this location! I kinda prefer this location better because it’s a lot more peaceful than the mall! The bourbon chicken combo is what I always get, with the fried rice and egg roll! It is amazing every single time! The employees are always kind! I love everything about this place! And it’s very inexpensive for the quality and quantity they put on your plate! They always fill my plate up and for less than 10$!
I've eaten lunch at this place before and was never blown away by the food options. However, I had dinner there last night and wow, what a difference! Great flavor, awesome service, clean, and quick. Thank you for a delicious meal!
I’ve had this place a couple times and both locations are pretty good! Good portions and decent price . I’d say the only thing that wasn’t great is sauce spilling in the bag when I got it delivered but it’s not a big deal . The dragon roll was delicious. The general chicken is me and my boyfriend’s favorite! We also ordered the 3pc cream cheese wonton and got 4 which was nice haha
Let’s get something upfront and out of the way! We all love the spot in the mall and with that, I believe there was such high hopes and pressure to get it right. At least that’s what I would have believed until I finally walked in only to be honestly a little confused with the lack of one coherent thought when it came to the interior and aesthetics! From the front door all the way to the back. Nothing was the same, but that’s me just being a little nit-picky! Now to the service and the food. I was greeted by a friendly staff and just like the mall it was served up to me in a matter of minutes. To then be disappointed in the bourbon chicken being cold, which that’s not a good health code scenario, but they did instantly make it right once they were made known of the problem. Finally, the menu seemed to be smaller then the one at the mall, (sorry if I’m not correct in that), but along with that they had added Boba Tea and smoothies to the menu. Which just seemed like a last minute decision. So my overall thought about it… so so. Just seems like more thought went into maximizing the most profit, then creating a RESTAURANT that provided an experience along with the food. If you have the choice of this one or the mall. Go to the mall,
