Mary Mahoney's Old French House

If you're in town, you for sure need to stop in and have lunch or dinner at Mary's. So much old history here. Even if you just stop in and have a drink at the bar, you will tons things to see and learn about Mary's and the area around it. The food is amazing, which I expected it to be. We had the crab claws and shrimp cocktail as an app. And then the Mary's chicken, fried shrimp and crab stuff shrimp and oh man we were all full and happy when done along with the amazing customer service we had every step of the way. We were too full to get dessert, but I'm sure it's good as well. Around th area is some houses turned into businesses that are super nice to walk the court yard and enjoy the atmosphere. I will for sure be back some time.

Rating Mary Mahoney's Old French House with two stars for my New Year's Eve dinner, I must express my disappointment with the dining experience. Our meal was a letdown, as it failed to progress beyond the appetizers. This visit marked my second time at Mary Mahoney's, and the restaurant appeared to be struggling due to a past fish authenticity scandal resurfacing, as shared by our server Steve-O, a long-time employee. He claimed that the owners did not take responsibility or issue an apology for the scandal, even though one was aware of it at the time. He chalked it up to the fact that they are old money and could care less about the impact to their restaurant reputation or loss of business, including the plight of the 16 servers laid off due to business decline resulting from the news. The red snapper dish was notably tough and rubbery, while the pasta lacked sauce. A replacement dish of red fish was unappealingly fishy in taste. The asparagus, another side dish, was overcooked and shriveled. Dissatisfied with the main course, we decided to skip dessert altogether. My future dining plans will not include a return visit to Mary Mahoney's Old French House.

First time eating here with a group of 5 for dinner. Customer service is on point once you walk through the doors! Hostess were nice and walked us to our reserved table. Our server Aaron was right over to get our drinks and any appetizers ordered. Appetizers we ordered were Shrimp Cocktail, Cup of Shrimp Gumbo. 10/10 for those picks. Our meals were: #1Seafood Platter-(my dish) it came with broiled shrimp, fried oysters, soft shell crab, baked fish and my side was a wedge salad. I was disappointed in the overall presentation and quantity for the price. The baked fish was the best of the 4 proteins with the soft shell crab being in the bottom. #2- ordered the Shrimp and Crab Melba- 4/10 rating. The flavor was bland and the first bite had a shrimp shell in it so it started out on wrong foot. So ended up not eating that dish. #3&4 meal was the fried shrimp dinner. Again the price you would think you would get plenty of food but 5-6 shrimp for an adults isn’t enough and the side of fries that you can’t substitute for anything else. I’d say 6/10 for this dish due to cost and lack of quantity. We all choose to get a wedge salad before our entree and to say it was basic wedge…it was literally lettuce wedge for one and 4 Cherry tomato’s with no dressing or bacon or blue cheese crumbled on top. Salad dressing came on the side. Would say 0/10 on those salads The highlight of our meal was the Nice older lady that greeted us at the main entrance to ask our name for our reservation, our server Arron for his prompt service and knowledge of the menu and drinks. Our drinks - Old Fashion, Lemon Drops, Cosmo and Bloody Mary were all 10/10 and the homemade bread and butter. More then likely this is a one and done for me unless we have another business/ work meeting there.

Beautiful lunch at this lovely historical home turned restaurant! Large selection of seafood options and any fish you want prepared how you want!! Salmon was delicious and the flounder was cooked perfectly! Quaint courtyard and amazing interior that has hosted many famous and non famous people. Definitely worth a visit if in the area

I absolutely loved this place! I went for my birthday and the food was amazing! So was our server. Everyone was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing and fancy. The fried crab claws were perfect. Best I’ve ever had.
