About Mandarin Garden Restaurant

Mandarin Garden Restaurant, located at 107 4th St E E in Northfield, Minnesota, serves as a Chinese restaurant providing a variety of Asian cuisine to the local community and visitors. As a part of the Chinese restaurant category, Mandarin Garden aims to offer a diverse menu of familiar and perhaps some unique dishes, catering to those seeking the flavors of China. Situated in Northfield, it provides options for both dining in at their establishment and ordering food for takeout, offering flexibility to its customers.

Based on the available online reviews, customer experiences at Mandarin Garden Restaurant present a mixed perspective, with one review expressing significant dissatisfaction and another highlighting a positive dining experience. One recent reviewer shared a negative experience, stating that they ordered sesame chicken and the house special appetizer platter. They reported receiving an "extra small thing of rice" with the sesame chicken, which they felt was insufficient. More critically, they found the appetizers to be "not even edible," describing every item on the platter as "over cooked!" This negative experience led the reviewer to conclude that they would not order from Mandarin Garden again, labeling their purchase "What a waste." This review raises concerns about portion sizes for certain dishes and the quality of the appetizers.

In contrast, another recent customer who visited Northfield for the day and was looking for a Chinese meal shared a positive experience at Mandarin Garden. They noted that the dining room was "clean and simply but elegantly decorated," suggesting a pleasant and well-maintained environment for dine-in customers. This reviewer specifically commended the waitress as "very helpful," particularly in accommodating the reviewer's difficulty in chewing by offering recommendations. They described the service as "professional and enjoyable," and mentioned that their food arrived "fresh, hot and promptly." This customer ordered the Mandarin fried noodles, while their friend ordered the sweet and sour chicken. Both were reportedly pleased with their meals. The reviewer even had leftovers that their wife also enjoyed, leading them to conclude that they would "definatly would go back." This positive review highlights the cleanliness and decor of the dining area, the helpful and professional service, and the satisfactory quality of the main dishes ordered.

Considering these two recent and contrasting reviews, Mandarin Garden Restaurant in Northfield appears to offer a somewhat inconsistent experience. While one customer found the appetizers inedible and the rice portion inadequate, another praised the cleanliness and elegance of the dining room, the helpfulness and professionalism of the waitress, and the quality of the main dishes (Mandarin fried noodles and sweet and sour chicken). This suggests that the quality of different menu items and the overall dining experience can vary.

For local users in Northfield seeking a Chinese restaurant, Mandarin Garden presents itself as an option with a dine-in facility that is described as clean and elegantly decorated, and a service staff that can be helpful and accommodating, especially regarding dietary needs or preferences. The Mandarin fried noodles and sweet and sour chicken appear to be well-received. However, potential customers might want to be cautious about ordering the house special appetizer platter and should be aware that the portion of rice served with some main dishes might be considered small by some.

The positive reviewer's description of the dining room suggests that Mandarin Garden aims to provide a comfortable and visually appealing environment for those choosing to eat at the restaurant. The helpfulness of the waitress indicates a focus on customer service. The prompt delivery of fresh and hot food is also a positive aspect of their service. It is reasonable to assume that Mandarin Garden also offers takeout services, catering to customers who prefer to enjoy their meals elsewhere.

The reviews do not provide specific details about any unique features of Mandarin Garden's cuisine or any particular specialties they might be known for, beyond the Mandarin fried noodles mentioned in the positive review. There is also no information available regarding any promotional offers, such as lunch specials, discounts, or family meal deals. Local users interested in learning more about their menu, hours of operation, and any potential promotions should contact the restaurant directly.

To gain a more comprehensive understanding of the current quality and consistency of Mandarin Garden Restaurant, local users might find it helpful to look for additional recent reviews. The stark contrast between the two available reviews suggests that individual experiences can vary significantly. Those planning to dine in might be encouraged by the positive comments on the ambiance and service, while those considering takeout might want to inquire about the portion sizes of rice served with main dishes and perhaps avoid the appetizer platter based on the negative feedback.

In conclusion, Mandarin Garden Restaurant in Northfield, MN, is a Chinese restaurant offering both dine-in and takeout services. Customer reviews present a mixed picture, with positive feedback regarding the clean and elegant dining room, helpful and professional service, and the quality of dishes like the Mandarin fried noodles and sweet and sour chicken. However, there is also a negative review citing small rice portions and inedible overcooked appetizers. Local users should consider these varying experiences when deciding whether to dine at or order from Mandarin Garden and may want to seek additional reviews or contact the restaurant directly for more information.

Ordered sesame chicken and the house special appetizer platter. Only got a extra small thing of rice with the sesame chicken, not even close to enough rice. The appetizers aren't even edible, every one of them was over cooked! Not ordering from here again! What a waste.

Went to Northfield for the day and was hungary, recently had Mexican and burgers and pizza. So when we spotted this place and walk in my friend knew he wanted some sweet and sour chicken and rice. The dinning room was clean and simply but elegantly decorated. The waitress was very helpfull, I explained I have difficulty chewing and she made recommendations. She was professional and enjoyable to talk to, we received our food fresh, hot and promptly. I got the Mandarin fried Noodles, my friend the Sweet and sour chicken. We were both pleased, I had some left over, and brought home to wife who also really enjoyed it.definatly would go back.

Fantastic food, the only place in Northfield worth getting Asian food. P. S. They have a secret menu.

I have been a loyal customer for 25 years or more. Never disappointed with the food (or service when they were eat-in). We love their Sesame Chicken and Chicken with Cashew nuts. Home-made hot sauce is the bomb! So great!

Ordered tons and couldn’t eat any of it except the veggie fried rice. Cream cheese wontons inedible, sweet n sour chicken nope, veggie delight tasteless. I am not a picky eater either. I love love love Chinese food but couldn’t this time as hard as I tried. Very polite and wonderful service though. Very friendly. Wanted to like sooooo bad but just couldn’t.
