About Mandarin Chef

Mandarin Chef is a Chinese restaurant located at 34 Mechanic St in Foxborough, Massachusetts, USA. You can contact them at (508) 698-3888 or via their mobile number +1 508-698-3888.

As a local Chinese restaurant in Foxborough, Mandarin Chef has garnered positive feedback for its "friendly service" and the opportunity it provides to support a local business. One enthusiastic reviewer highlighted their "great food," particularly recommending the "best sesame tofu." They also noted that everything they have tried has been "delicious" and praised the owner for consistently supporting Foxborough athletic teams with fundraising efforts.

However, another customer who tried Mandarin Chef for the first time, seeking a closer alternative to their usual Chinese spot, expressed disappointment. They found the portion sizes to be "extremely small for the price" and the food to lack significant flavor. Specific dishes mentioned include "VERY overly sweet" crab rangoons, chicken fingers with a "thick almost dough like coating not crispy and fried," and a small PuPu for two where everything was deemed "okay or fine but nothing i would order again." The chicken lo mein was described as "pretty flavorless" with a lack of typical vegetables, containing only bean sprouts.

For local users in Foxborough considering Mandarin Chef, it appears to be a restaurant with friendly service and a reputation for supporting the community, with the sesame tofu being a standout dish for some. However, potential customers should be aware of recent feedback regarding smaller portion sizes for the price and some dishes lacking in flavor.

Great food, friendly service, and you can feel good supporting a local business. They make the best sesame tofu. Everything we've had has been delicious. Great food and supporting a small business owner who has helped many Foxboro athletic teams with their fundraising, time and again; how can you go wrong? Give them a try, you won't regret it.

Tried for the first time as it is closer than our go to chinese place. Definitely wouldn't order again. The portion are extremely small for the price. Also the food didn't have very much flavor. Crab rangoons were VERY overly sweet, chicken fingers had a thick almost dough like coating not crispy and fried. PuPu for two was small and everything was okay or fine but nothing i would order again. Chicken lo mein was pretty flavorless, no vegetables that are normally in chicken lo mein except some bean sprouts.

The owner is a hands-on, involved, and constantly present person. Every time, the freshly made meals are amazing. Having placed orders here for 14 years, I have never been let down. Strongly Suggested.

I really hate to leave a negative review on a small business but I just spent $58 on food, most of which I couldn't eat. Got the shredded szechan beef, it was inedible. I ordered white rice but was given pork fried rice, not a big deal but the rice was mushy, flavorless, and the bits of pork were a very weird texture. (They do give you an absolutely massive portion of rice though) There was lettuce(?) in the wonton soup, the broth was very strange. General Gao chicken was not good, the sauce tasted burnt and the chicken without the sauce was flavorless. The Peking ravioli had surprisingly good flavor but the dough was very undercooked. The crab rangoon and spring roll were okay, nothing offensive about them but nothing special either. Massive bummer because they're super close, prices are decent, and the people seem nice. Could have just been an off night but I won't be trying again.

What took place? You used to have excellent, freshly prepared cuisine. It's unbelievable that I spent so much money on what appeared to be just warmed-up food that was a day or two old. I'm not sure if I can still pick up there. I hate to say it, but I have to lower this place's rating from five stars to two.
