About Man Chan Cuisine

Welcome to Man Chan Cuisine, a Chinese restaurant located at 301 W Valley Blvd #110 in San Gabriel, California. As a member of the Chinese Restaurant category, Man Chan Cuisine aims to provide a diverse selection of Cantonese-style dishes to the local community. You can contact us at (626) 282-5953 or via mobile at +1 626-282-5953. Situated on West Valley Boulevard in San Gabriel, Man Chan Cuisine offers both dine-in and takeout options for those seeking authentic Cantonese flavors.

Based on the available customer reviews, Man Chan Cuisine presents a somewhat varied experience in terms of food quality and service. One reviewer who ordered takeout found the process to be "a breeze" and appreciated the staff's ability to communicate in both Cantonese and English, awarding the service four stars. This suggests that the ordering process, particularly for takeout, is efficient and that language is not a barrier for English or Cantonese speakers.

Regarding the food, this reviewer noted that some dishes were better than others, giving an overall rating of 6/10. Among the dishes ordered, the Fried Rice with Salty Egg Yolk & Taro Olives (咸蛋黄榄菜芋头炒饭) at $15.99 was particularly well-received, described as "very tasty" and unique, and recommended by the owner/staff. In contrast, the Roast Pork Belly with Salty Fish & Eggplant in Hot Pot (烧猪腩咸鱼茄子煲) priced at $17.99 was deemed "too salty" and not recommended for reorder. The Tofu with Mushroom, Wood Ear & Enokitake (冬菇云耳金针扒豆腐) at $15.99 was considered potentially good for dine-in, but its consistency suffered during takeout. The French Style Filet Mignon, priced at a higher $23.99, was described as "decently tasty" but with a seemingly small portion size.

A notable positive aspect of the takeout experience was the complimentary offering of three small cups of soup of the day, which the reviewer found "very nice to have and very refreshing." This suggests a thoughtful gesture towards takeout customers.

For those considering dining in, the reviewer mentioned that the interior of Man Chan Cuisine features a number of small tables and one larger family-style table. However, they did not observe any restrooms available within the premises. This lack of visible restroom facilities could be a consideration for potential dine-in customers.

Another observation made by the reviewer was that the menus had a "strong old menu scent," which might be a minor inconvenience for some patrons.

A separate review provided a more general assessment of the food, stating it was "ok." The dishes ordered were Hainan chicken, salt pepper tofu, and garlic hollow veggie. The salt pepper tofu was noted as being good, but the portion size was smaller than depicted in the menu picture. The Hainan chicken and garlic hollow veggie were described as tasting "pretty plain." This additional feedback further highlights the inconsistency in the perceived quality and portion sizes of different dishes at Man Chan Cuisine.

Based on the available information, Man Chan Cuisine appears to be a Cantonese restaurant that offers a mix of classic and perhaps some more unique dishes. The Fried Rice with Salty Egg Yolk & Taro Olives seems to be a standout item, while other dishes, such as the roast pork belly hot pot and the Hainan chicken, received less favorable reviews. The portion size of some dishes, like the filet mignon and the salt pepper tofu, was also a point of concern for some customers.

The service seems to be generally competent, with the staff being able to communicate in both English and Cantonese, which is beneficial for a diverse clientele. The complimentary soup provided with takeout orders is a nice touch that enhances the customer experience for those ordering to go.

Regarding the environment, the interior features standard table arrangements, including smaller tables and a larger one for groups. However, the potential lack of visible restroom facilities might be a drawback for some dine-in customers. The mention of a noticeable scent from the menus is also a minor environmental factor to consider.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews. It is unknown whether Man Chan Cuisine offers any daily specials, lunch menus, or other discounts. Customers interested in learning about potential promotions or the most up-to-date menu should contact the restaurant directly at (626) 282-5953.

In conclusion, Man Chan Cuisine in San Gabriel offers a range of Cantonese dishes with varying levels of customer satisfaction. The Fried Rice with Salty Egg Yolk & Taro Olives appears to be a highlight, while other dishes have received mixed reviews regarding taste and portion size. The service is generally rated positively, especially for takeout orders. The dining environment is functional, though the potential lack of visible restrooms is a point to note. Customers seeking authentic Cantonese cuisine in San Gabriel may find some appealing options at Man Chan Cuisine, but it might be prudent to inquire about specific dishes and current promotions before ordering.

Came here right after work at 5p and the place was empty. Ordered To-Go and it was a breeze. The lady spoke Cantonese and English in case you had any questions or recommendations, so it was easy to order. Service 4 stars. Food 3 stars (some dishes were better than others). Ordered: Fried Rice w/Salty Egg Yolk & Taro Olives 咸蛋黄榄菜芋头炒饭. $15.99 **** this was actually very tasty and I liked it very much as it was different, I also took this as the recommendation from the owner/lady. ** Roast Pork Belly w/Salty Fish & Eggplant in Hot Pot 烧猪腩咸鱼茄子煲 $17.99 ** - this was too salty :( I wouldn’t order again Tofu w/Mushroom Wood Ear&Enokitake 冬菇云耳金针扒豆腐. $15.99 *** I think this would have been good if I’d eaten it there bc when covered up for take out the consistency of the fried tofu is lost and it isn’t as yummy. *** French Style Filet Mignon - was decently tasty but seemed too little of a portion for $23.99. With my takeout the lady gave us 3 small cups of soup off the day which was very nice to have and very refreshing. The inside had a number of small tables and a larger big family table if you’re dining in. I didn’t see any restrooms available though. Their menus have a strong old menu scent :/

Food was ok, best 6/10. We order Hainan chicken, salt pepper tofu, and garlic hollow veggie. The tofu was good, but the portion was half of what is represented in menu picture. Chicken and veggies taste pretty plain.

Ol' skool place, with very attentive folks. They've been here for a while. I've been here once many years ago, but honestly, I don't hit them often enough. Their food is really good. Tried their house chicken with their namesake, and it's SUPER soft. The braised pork was good. Every bite I had was really soft. BUT, my friends also caught some pieces that were also not AS soft, so... Almost there, just a step away from perfect. One of those friends would still disagree though, because he'd much rather have the Shanghai style red-braised pork, "Yes, the red dye, sugar, and a side order of cardio-infarction please!" The braised pork here is more savory than sweet. But I liked it! Their Filet Mignon wasn't bad either! If they gave a larger portion, and the inside was softer while maintaining that glazed protective layer, by cutting them up into slightly larger pieces, they would actually be on par with Tân Cảng (新港). BUT still good!!! Especially for the price!

Hainan Chicken Rice, the first time here. the Hainan Chicken is very good. Compare to Savoy, it's just as good. Personally I like this over Savoy. Other dishes, some are good, some are not so. This little place has a large menu which made it a bit confusing. They should focus more on their specialties.

Ordered lunch to go on a Monday. Food overall were unimpressive although good portion. The eggplant was a bit undercooked, filet mignon a little tough, wonton soup rather bland, leaving the fried rice to be favored. The only thing memorial was actually the coconut cake, which is gelatinous sweet inside the coconut.
