About Mama Chow's Kitchen

Welcome to Mama Chow's Kitchen, a Chinese restaurant situated at 3757 SE Hawthorne Blvd in the vibrant Hawthorne district of Portland, Oregon. As a Chinese Restaurant in this eclectic neighborhood, Mama Chow's Kitchen offers a selection of Chinese dishes, with a particular emphasis on noodle-based meals and other popular items. While specific details about their phone number and mobile phone are not provided in the given information, the address allows local users to easily locate the establishment for potential dine-in or takeout experiences.

Based on the available customer reviews, the environment of Mama Chow's Kitchen is not explicitly described. However, the focus of the reviews is primarily on the food itself, suggesting a casual and perhaps smaller establishment where the culinary offerings take center stage. Without information about the décor, seating arrangements, or overall ambiance, it is challenging to provide a detailed description of the restaurant's environment. Potential customers might need to visit the location to get a sense of its physical setting.

The services offered by Mama Chow's Kitchen likely include both dine-in and takeout options, common for many Chinese restaurants. The positive review from a first-time visitor who enjoyed both the wonton noodle soup and the wonton garlic noodles suggests that Mama Chow's Kitchen is equipped to handle dine-in customers. Similarly, the reviewer who praised the salt and pepper squid at another establishment mentioned ordering "to go," implying that takeout service is a standard offering in the Chinese restaurant category, and likely available at Mama Chow's Kitchen as well. However, without explicit mention of these services in the provided reviews for Mama Chow's Kitchen, this remains an inference based on typical restaurant practices.

The features of Mama Chow's Kitchen appear to revolve around specific dishes that have garnered attention in customer reviews. The "garlic noodles" are a recurring favorite, mentioned positively in multiple reviews, often paired with wontons. One reviewer explicitly stated, "My favorite dish here has to be the garlic noodles with wontons!" Another described the garlic noodles as "excellent" on two separate visits. The preparation of the wontons also seems noteworthy, with one customer mentioning that their friend's wontons were "pan fried," which complemented the garlic noodles well. The "wonton noodle soup" is also highlighted as "excellent" by a first-time visitor, indicating that their soup offerings are also well-received.

However, not all dishes received universal praise. The "lollipop wings" were met with a more lukewarm response. One reviewer found them "not a huge fan," suggesting they might have been "a bit undercooked because meat was still sticking to the bone." This also led to a "not a clean hands experience," indicating a potential issue with the preparation or the way the dish is meant to be eaten. Another reviewer described the chicken lollipops as "just okay," further suggesting that this particular item might not be a standout on the menu.

Another point of contention in the reviews is the value for money. One customer commented that "the garlic noodles are good, but they give you so little of it for the price." This sentiment was echoed by another reviewer who stated, "Prices are high for the quality and quantity of food," ultimately leading to an overall impression of "meh, can take it and can leave it." This suggests that while some dishes are enjoyed for their taste, the portion sizes relative to the price point might be a concern for some customers.

The absence of phone number or mobile phone information in the provided data means that details about potential promotional offers or specials are unavailable. Customers interested in learning about any current promotions at Mama Chow's Kitchen would need to find contact information through other online resources or by visiting the restaurant directly. Similarly, information about their menu beyond the mentioned dishes (garlic noodles, wonton soup, lollipop wings) is not included in the provided reviews.

In summary, Mama Chow's Kitchen on SE Hawthorne Blvd in Portland, Oregon, is a Chinese restaurant that appears to have some popular dishes, particularly the garlic noodles (often paired with wontons) and the wonton noodle soup, which have been described as "excellent." However, the "lollipop wings" have received less favorable reviews, with concerns about potential undercooking and the eating experience. Additionally, some customers have expressed concerns about the portion sizes of certain dishes, like the garlic noodles, relative to their price, leading to a perception of high prices for the overall quality and quantity of food. While the environment and full range of services (beyond likely dine-in and takeout) are not detailed in the provided reviews, Mama Chow's Kitchen seems to have established a reputation for specific noodle and wonton dishes within the local area. Potential customers might want to consider the varying opinions on different menu items and the reported value for money when deciding to visit.

First time here, I got the wonton noodle soup and my friend got the wonton garlic noodles. Both were excellent, and my friend's wontons were pan fried which suited the garlic noodles perfectly. On my second visit I went with garlic noodles with the lollipop wings. Garlic noodles were excellent as I remembered but not a huge fan of the lollipop wings - maybe a bit undercooked because meat was still sticking to the bone. Also not a clean hands experience. My favorite dish here has to be the garlic noodles with wontons!

The garlic noodles are good, but they give you so little of it for the price. The chicken lollipops are just okay. Prices are high for the quality and quantity of food. Overall, it’s a meh, can take it and can leave it.

The wait can be kinda long, but the food is so good that it's worth it. The garlic noodles are a must, and you can't go wrong with any of the protein choices. Although the chicken wings are top tier! Put in your order, find a nice table to chill at, and then enjoy :)

Recently moved to the Farmhouse Food Cart Pod, behind/next to Rev Nat's, they haven't missed a beat!! Garlic Noodles with BBQ pork was amazing. The fried tofu was great, and if anyone tells you they hate tofu, they should try MamaChow's, it's a game changer. We also had wings and the pork and shrimp dumplings. You cannot go wrong with any of it!!

Literally can't not tell you how amazing this place is. Not only are they the KINDEST humans, but the food was beyond incredible. I was craving shrimp, and it was not on the regular menu since it's a random special. Surprisingly, he said he had some and would make it for me. We had the lollipop garlic noodles which were DELICIOUS, tofu, the fried chicken, and shrimp garlic noodles. They were so accommodating. We will be back 1 million percent.
