Mala House on 21st and Broadway is hands-down one of my favorite lunch spots in the city. I come here frequently, and every time, it’s consistently fantastic. The staff is incredibly kind and attentive— Chen and Cliff, especially, always go above and beyond to make every visit feel special. Shout out to both of them! The food is absolutely delicious and the service is lightning fast. Whatever you order, it comes out in no time, fresh and flavorful. I highly recommend their lunch special—it’s an incredible deal where you get a main dish, white or brown rice, and an appetizer. My go-to combo is the hot and sour soup with spring rolls to start (both are SO good), and for the main, the General Tso's chicken or orange chicken—both are packed with flavor and the portions are generous. The ambiance is also worth noting: the music is super relaxing, which makes it a great place to take a breather during a busy workday. I totally, absolutely love everything about this place. Keep it up, Mala House!
The salt and pepper lamb chops were absolutely delicious! I'd return just for this dish again but looking forward to trying other dishes next time. The staff were very attentive and very nice even though it was clearly busy. Can't wait to go back!
This was soooo fire oh my god throwing loved the Dan Dan noodles, cucumber in oil and pepper chicken. The scallion pancakes were some of the best I’ve ever had. Service was so nice and quick. No frills at this place but you don’t really need it with food this good.
I ordered the chicken dry hotpot for the first time and to my disappointment it’s way too salty and not recommended for those who are avoiding high sodium foods. I complained about the taste of the food that’s it’s way too salty. The server took the food back to the kitchen and return it with the same taste nothing has been changed and he told me I should tell them to order mild instead of spicy I am not complaining about the spicy if its too hot or mild I am complaining about the taste that’s its way too salty I didn’t get to finish my dinner because I start experiencing headaches maybe my blood pressure went up because of how salty the food was.. I wasted my money and never enjoyed the food. I got headaches leaving the place with disappointment. I am not sure if the cook ruined the food by putting a lot of salt in it? I am not sure if I am the only one ordered the dry hotpot chicken that tasted too salty? I am so disappointed!
Amazing place and really good, tasty and cheap lunch option. Had kung pao and beef with peppers. Soup and rice included. Recommend. Little surprised that minimum required tip was 18% (we we said we couldn’t tip less..
