About Mai Thai

Mai Thai is a restaurant located at 22 E Pine St, Orlando, FL 32801, USA, offering a variety of Thai-inspired cuisine and a selection of specialty cocktails. They can be contacted at phone number (407) 286-2050 or mobile phone +1 407-286-2050.

Customer experiences at Mai Thai appear to be mixed. One recent visitor who initially expected a brunch vibe (which is only available on Saturdays and Sundays) was ultimately very pleased with their dining experience. They highly rated the food (10/10), mentioning appetizers like fried calamari and spring rolls, and entrees such as Pad See-Ew with scallops, Pineapple Fried Rice with chicken, and the Mai Thai Burger. They also enjoyed the presentation of the food and specialty cocktails like the Mai Thai and Lychee Martini, and commended the excellent service provided by the general manager, Micheal.

However, another customer reported a significantly less satisfactory experience during their second visit. They cited several issues, including an unset table upon arrival, a 20-minute wait before being approached by a waiter who did not introduce himself, and a 45-minute wait for food. There was also a mix-up with a drink order (receiving a blueberry martini instead of a lychee martini), and the staff member who was asked about it allegedly did not return and later ignored attempts to get her attention. The correct drink was only received after a further request to the waiter.

Furthermore, this customer experienced a delay in receiving utensils and their avocado toast, which arrived 15 minutes after everyone else had finished eating. They also noted small water cups that required frequent refills and an unexpected surcharge of $1 per egg for meals including eggs, which they felt made their avocado toast (even with a substitution) overpriced and underwhelming. This customer also observed that other tables received more attentive service, leading to uncertainty about returning.

In summary, while some customers have had excellent experiences with the food, presentation, and service at Mai Thai, particularly highlighting the general manager's attentiveness, others have reported significant issues with slow and inattentive service, incorrect orders, and unexpected charges. Potential diners may want to consider these varying recent experiences.

My friends and I came in expecting the brunch vibe that we saw on social media but when we sat down we discovered brunch only happens on Saturday and Sunday. However I am so glad we stayed because the food was a 10/10. Our table had the fried calamari and spring rolls for appetizers. Pad See-Ew with scallops, Pineapple Fried Rice with chicken, and the Mai Thai Burger for entrees. We also ordered a Mai Thai and Lychee Martini from the specialty cocktail menu. The presentation was beautiful, there are no complaints about the food, and the service from the general manager Micheal was excellent.

This was my second visit to this restaurant, and unfortunately, the service was disappointing from the start. Upon arriving at our table, we noticed it was not set with utensils, which was an early sign of disorganization. We waited approximately 20 minutes before a waiter approached us, and when he did, he failed to introduce himself—an immediate red flag. He simply asked for our drink order, so we decided to place our food order at the same time, anticipating a lengthy wait. Our drinks arrived 15 minutes later, and our food was not served until 45 minutes after ordering. I had requested a lychee martini, but instead, I received a martini garnished with a blueberry. When I inquired about this with a staff member, she claimed that was how it was served but said she would check with the bar. Unfortunately, she never returned, and when I attempted to get her attention, she deliberately ignored me. Eventually, I informed our waiter that I wanted to exchange the incorrect drink for a lemon drop martini. By this time, everyone at the table had received their food and drinks except for me. Another concerning aspect was that although our meals were served, we still had not been provided with utensils. Our waiter finally brought them, but the delay was perplexing. I had ordered the avocado toast, which arrived 15 minutes after everyone else had finished their meals. At that point, I still had not received my lemon drop martini, requiring yet another reminder before it was finally served. We also had to request additional water, as the cups provided were quite small and had been emptied quickly. What stood out most was that other tables he was attending received prompt and attentive service, while ours was notably neglected. It was unclear whether the restaurant was experiencing staffing issues, but the experience was vastly different from our first visit in 2023, which had been much smoother. Additionally, there was an unexpected surcharge: meals that included eggs were charged an extra $1 per egg. For example, my avocado toast originally cost $22.95, but with the two eggs included, the total rose to $24.95. Considering the quality of the meal, I did not find it to be worth the price. I substituted eggs for sausage, yet the dish was still underwhelming. Overall, this experience was disappointing, and given the stark contrast from our first visit, I’m unsure if I would return.

Mai Thai is one of my go to spots for lunch. They have a great selection of lunch specials but I just learned that they have a pretty good burger with touch of sweet and spicy sauce….it has certainly made it to my try list on a future Mai Thai visit. If you are in the downtown Orlando area and looking for some good budget friendly lunch options- be sure to check them out. Hint - you get more food when you eat in, oh and get the spring roll they are sooooo good.

Stopped here to get an order to go. Great service. Nice atmosphere. Got the food home and found a super stingy portion of food for a hard earned $15. A few pieces of chicken. Two or three pieces of broccoli. A bed of cooked Cabbage or bok choy. Little to no sauce. I would not recommend or return.

venue with my boyfriend, despite a few positives. The crowd had great energy, and the vibes were lively, especially during the twerking contest. The food was actually really good, and our waiter was respectful and attentive, which made the wait more bearable. However, things took a turn for the worse when we spent a significant amount of money, including purchasing two bottles of champagne, and waited over three hours for our food. During the contest, my boyfriend got a little too excited, and some champagne sprayed while I was dancing. We fully acknowledge that this could have created a hazard, but we immediately helped clean it up. Despite our efforts, the security guards were incredibly rude and tried to kick us out. I requested to speak to the manager, but before I could, the security guard spoke to them first. The manager was just as unhelpful, rude, and unwilling to offer any compensation for the situation. The entire interaction felt extremely hostile, and they even threatened to have us removed. We weren't aware of how strict the policies were, especially since they were hosting a twerking contest. Coming from New York, we assumed the policies might be more relaxed, especially when champagne spraying is not uncommon. The lack of understanding and poor customer service left us feeling extremely unwelcome and disrespected. I will definitely not be returning, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who values a positive, respectful experience.
