About Mai Chinese Restaurant

Mai Chinese Restaurant, located at 918 US-71 BUS in Anderson, Missouri, serves the local community as a Chinese Restaurant. This establishment offers the convenience of both dine-in and carry-out services, catering to different preferences for enjoying their Chinese-inspired cuisine. You can contact Mai Chinese Restaurant at (417) 291-6921 or via mobile at +1 417-291-6921.

According to one customer's experience, Mai Chinese Restaurant features a "simple, no-frills layout." This suggests that the environment is functional and straightforward, likely prioritizing the food and service over elaborate decor. The availability of both dine-in and carry-out options provides flexibility for customers who wish to eat at the restaurant or take their meals to enjoy elsewhere.

The same reviewer ordered the Pad See-Ew combo, which they noted was unique in that it included both chicken and pineapple chicken in the same dish. They also mentioned that other combos are available, indicating some variety in their menu offerings. The flavors of the Pad See-Ew were described as blending "nicely—savory with just the right touch of sweetness," suggesting a balanced and appealing taste. The rice noodles in the dish were reported to be "cooked perfectly: tender without being mushy, and with a slight chew," highlighting a positive aspect of the dish's preparation. Overall, this customer found their meal to be "satisfying and flavorful."

Another customer, who specifically sought out the "new Mai Chinese" in Anderson, MO, shared a more detailed and mixed experience. This reviewer, with experience in Chinese cuisine from various Chinatowns across the United States, approached their visit with anticipation. They noted that the restaurant is small, with approximately 13 tables, and they were seated quickly, indicating efficient initial service.

This customer started with the appetizer combo, which included house-made egg rolls and crab cheese wontons. The service was impressively fast, with the appetizers arriving in under five minutes. While the egg rolls were not specifically commented on in terms of taste, the crab cheese wontons were a point of concern. The reviewer noted an "off-putting taste," which they speculated might be due to "old grease or cross-flavoring from previously cooked food." They clarified that it wasn't terrible but also "not as fresh as I'd hoped." This suggests potential inconsistencies in the quality or freshness of certain menu items.

For their entrée, this reviewer ordered a familiar favorite, General Tso’s Chicken with fried rice. The dish also arrived quickly. However, they expressed disappointment with the fried rice, describing it as "completely plain—no onions, peas, egg, or anything I usually expect." This lack of typical ingredients in the fried rice might be a deviation from standard preparations and could be a drawback for customers accustomed to a more traditional fried rice. The General Tso’s Chicken itself was described as "just okay—small, gumball-sized pieces with some scallions on top." This suggests that the portion size or the overall quality of the General Tso's Chicken did not particularly impress this reviewer.

Despite the mediocre food experience, this second reviewer did note some positive aspects. They stated that "the service was great, and the restaurant was clean!" This indicates that while the food may not have met their expectations, the attentiveness of the staff and the cleanliness of the establishment were commendable. The reviewer concluded that while they finished their meal, Mai Chinese is "not a place I’d go out of my way to visit again," giving it a rating of 5.5 out of 10.

Based on these two reviews, the environment of Mai Chinese Restaurant is simple and clean, with a relatively small dining area. The service appears to be generally efficient and potentially friendly. The features of the restaurant include offering both dine-in and carry-out options, and a menu that includes combo meals like the Pad See-Ew with a unique combination of chicken and pineapple chicken. However, the quality and preparation of some other dishes, such as the crab cheese wontons, fried rice, and General Tso's Chicken, have received less favorable feedback regarding taste, freshness, and ingredients.

Information regarding specific promotional offers at Mai Chinese Restaurant is not available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in any specials or discounts should contact the restaurant directly to inquire.

In conclusion, Mai Chinese Restaurant in Anderson, MO, offers a simple dining environment with both dine-in and carry-out services. While one customer praised the flavorful Pad See-Ew and the overall satisfying meal, another experienced fast and friendly service in a clean restaurant but found the appetizers and entrée to be mediocre, with concerns about freshness and standard preparation. Local users considering Mai Chinese Restaurant should weigh these mixed reviews, particularly regarding the quality and consistency of their dishes, while noting the positive feedback on service and cleanliness.

The Chinese restaurant has a simple, no-frills layout with the option to dine in or carry out. I ordered the Pad See-Ew combo, which came with both chicken and pineapple chicken in the same dish (other combos are available). The flavors blended nicely—savory with just the right touch of sweetness. The rice noodles were cooked perfectly: tender without being mushy, and with a slight chew. A satisfying and flavorful meal overall.

Tried the New Mai Chinese in Anderson, MO Tonight I was in Anderson, MO, for work this evening and had heard some buzz about the new Mai Chinese restaurant that recently opened. Being a huge fan of Chinese food, I had to check it out! I’ve had the chance to experience some incredible Chinese cuisine in the Chinatowns of San Francisco, Phoenix, Dallas, Tampa, and Denver, so I was excited to see what this spot had to offer. The restaurant is small, with about 13 tables, and I was seated quickly. I started with the appetizer combo, which included house-made egg rolls and crab cheese wontons. The service was fast—my appetizers arrived in under five minutes! Unfortunately, the crab cheese wontons had a bit of an off-putting taste, possibly due to old grease or cross-flavoring from previously cooked food. It wasn’t terrible, just not as fresh as I’d hoped. For my entrée, I ordered a favorite—General Tso’s Chicken with fried rice. The dish arrived quickly, but I was a bit disappointed that the fried rice was completely plain—no onions, peas, egg, or anything I usually expect. The General Tso’s Chicken was just okay—small, gumball-sized pieces with some scallions on top. Overall, the food was mediocre at best, and while I finished my meal, it’s not a place I’d go out of my way to visit again. On the plus side, the service was great, and the restaurant was clean! If you’ve tried it, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Rob Score 5.5/10.0

The food is excellent. It is fresh cooked. We had the chicken with clear noodle soup and the broccoli with chicken stirfry. Both were very tasty. The vegetables were prepared perfectly with the chicken was cooked properly and the flavors were excellent. The service is friendly and they made our takeout order while we wait and it was fast With no compromise of quality. I strongly recommend this new restaurant owned by a family.

Just discovered this place. My teenager took a few bites and started planning the next time we could eat here. Food was served fast and it was hot and fresh. We tried spring rolls, sesame chicken, sweet and sour, kung pao, cashew chicken, and boba (which is a smoothie not milk tea). Pleasantly surprised to have Chinese food this good so close by!
