Mahzu Japanese Restaurant East Windsor

Delicious food! Everyone enjoyed their meals and cleaned their plates. Enormous portions if ordering the hibachi! They prepared food first for someone in our group that has a shellfish allergy!

Had a horrible experience. Went on a Friday night for table seating, not hibachi. It took 20 minutes for us to be even acknowledged once we sat down. My water glass was dirty 3 times, with caked on black gunk inside the glass. After the third time, I gave us asking for a new one. My food tasted a bit burnt, but my partner enjoyed his. The table next to us also could not get a server to take their order. Overall a poor experience. I will not be back. My partner may be for take out sushi, but will not dine in again.

We recently visited Mahzu to celebrate our daughter’s 6th birthday, as it was her special request. Unfortunately, the experience left us very disappointed. To start, the restaurant had no heat, so we had to keep our coats on throughout dinner just to stay warm. At one point, we even had to go to the bathroom to warm up, which made the evening uncomfortable. The food was mediocre at best—about a 5 out of 10. Given the higher prices, we expected better quality and flavor. What really stood out, however, was the attitude of our hibachi chef. This was our second visit with the same chef, and both times he seemed disinterested and unfriendly. He barely engaged with our daughter or the other children at the table, which was especially disappointing since hibachi dining is typically an interactive and entertaining experience. Instead, he rushed through the cooking, making the meal feel more like an obligation than a celebration. Sadly, after giving this place another chance, we’ve decided it will be our last visit. For the price and expectations, we left feeling let down and won’t be returning.

Was a little hesitant to go here given some recent negative reviews but we had a great experience on a weeknight celebrating our daughters birthday. All staff was friendly and courteous and they were kind enough to provide ice cream for the birthday girl. Prices were fair . 18 percent gratuity was added by default but called out explicitly.

We have been coming to Mahzu for years and have to say, this is probably our last time. We have two little boys who are at best barely going to eat a split hibachi steak. Not only will this place not provide a kids hibachi option with a meat but they have the nerve to charge a $7 split fee. I mean are you kidding! They charge $7 for the cook to scoop a portion of the steak into one plate and then move his arm a few inches to the right to put some of the remaining steak in the other plate? It’s a shame because the food is normally very good and the service friendly. That said, there are to many good options around to allow this type of crap to stand
