About Magic Wok

Welcome to Magic Wok, a Chinese restaurant located at 1499 US-7 in Middlebury, Vermont (VT 05753), USA. Magic Wok is described as a family-run establishment where the owners are noted to be two "VERY hard working parents" who, at the time of one review, accommodate their children at the restaurant while working. Primarily recommended for takeout, Magic Wok aims to provide affordable Chinese cuisine with generous portions to the local community. You can contact them at (802) 388-0339 or their mobile number, +1 802-388-0339, to place an order.

Customer reviews for Magic Wok offer contrasting perspectives on the dining experience. One reviewer, who relocated from NY to Brandon almost four years prior, expressed strong positive feedback specifically regarding the takeout service. They mentioned struggling to find a decent Chinese takeout spot in their new area until discovering Magic Wok. This customer lauded the food as "off the chain" and the prices as "incomparable" to other local establishments, especially considering the quality and the "huge" portion sizes. They reported that their entire family enjoyed their meals and had significant leftovers for the following day's lunch. This positive experience led them to declare their intention to become frequent customers for their takeout nights at home. The reviewer also expressed appreciation for the owners' dedication to running a business while raising a family, indicating a sense of supporting a hard-working local family. A humorous anecdote about their son enjoying a substantial portion of the food before a photo could be taken further emphasizes the appeal of the dishes.

In contrast, another reviewer had a significantly negative experience with a specific item on the menu: the fried dumplings. They described these as "premade and very cheap," and at a price of $8, found them to be "gummy tasteless food I’ve ever had." This feedback suggests a potential inconsistency in the quality of different menu items, with some dishes being highly satisfying while others may fall short of expectations. It also raises a concern about the freshness and preparation methods of certain items.

As a Chinese restaurant, Magic Wok likely offers a range of popular dishes, primarily geared towards takeout. Based on the positive review, their menu includes items that are flavorful and come in large portions, satisfying a family. The negative review points to fried dumplings as being a potentially less desirable option. Customers can probably expect to find other standard Chinese-American fare such as various rice and noodle dishes, chicken, beef, and pork entrees, and perhaps a selection of soups and appetizers. Given the divergent opinions, it might be prudent for new customers to inquire about the preparation and freshness of specific items when ordering.

Regarding the environment of Magic Wok, one reviewer mentioned that the restaurant currently accommodates the owners' children while they work, suggesting a casual and family-oriented atmosphere, at least during certain times. This might imply that the primary focus is on takeout, with perhaps a less formal or dedicated dine-in area. The other reviewer did not comment on the physical environment. For local users considering dining in, it might be helpful to contact the restaurant directly to inquire about the availability and nature of their dine-in facilities.

In terms of services, the positive review strongly emphasizes takeout as the recommended way to experience Magic Wok, especially for those seeking a convenient meal to enjoy at home. The owners are described as "extremely polite people," suggesting a positive customer service interaction when placing and picking up orders. The negative review did not comment on the service aspect beyond the dissatisfaction with the food quality of the fried dumplings. The availability of both a phone number and a mobile phone number facilitates easy ordering for takeout. It is not explicitly mentioned whether Magic Wok offers delivery services. Local customers interested in delivery should inquire directly with the restaurant.

The features of Magic Wok appear to be affordability, large portion sizes, and, for some customers, delicious food that rivals that of establishments in larger metropolitan areas. The fact that it is a family-owned and run business might appeal to those who prefer to support local, hard-working families. However, a potential negative feature is the inconsistency in food quality across different menu items, as highlighted by the poor review of the fried dumplings. This suggests that while some dishes might be excellent, others may not meet the same standards. The accommodation of the owners' children in the restaurant might also be a factor that influences the overall ambiance for any dine-in customers.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information mentioned in the provided data. To learn about any special offers, discounts, or new menu items that Magic Wok might be featuring, it is best to contact the restaurant directly via phone or inquire if they have any online presence where such information might be shared. Local residents in Middlebury and the surrounding areas looking for an affordable Chinese takeout option with generous portions might find Magic Wok appealing, based on the positive review. However, the negative feedback on the fried dumplings serves as a reminder to consider potential variability in the menu quality.

In conclusion, Magic Wok in Middlebury, VT, is a family-run Chinese restaurant primarily recommended for takeout. One customer praised its delicious food, incomparable prices, and huge portions, making it their go-to spot since moving to the area. The owners are described as extremely polite and hard-working. However, another customer reported a very negative experience with the fried dumplings, finding them gummy and tasteless. This suggests a potential inconsistency in the quality of different menu items. While the environment accommodates the owners' children, the primary service appears to be takeout. For local users seeking an affordable Chinese takeout with large portions, Magic Wok is worth considering, but it may be wise to inquire about the quality of specific dishes before ordering. For the most current information on their menu, services, and any potential promotions, contacting the restaurant directly at (802) 388-0339 or +1 802-388-0339 is recommended.

Let me start by saying, if you’re looking for somewhere to go out and eat Chinese, I don’t recommend. They are two VERY hard working parents and the restaurant currently accommodates their children while they work, as of this review. Now with literally everything else. They are extremely polite people, and coming from NY. I have not found a decent Chinese take out spot that was Semi close to my house in Brandon since moving here almost four years ago. The food is off the chain, and the prices are incomparable to other places in the area, quality and all. The portion sizes are huge too. Every person in my family loved our meals and had a lot left over for lunch the next day. We will definitely be frequenting this place for out takeout nights at home. Thank you! And I appreciate the hustle of trying to run a business and raise a family! (My son had eaten well over half of what was in the white to go container before I took it) fyi lol

The fried dumplings must be premade and very cheap. $8 for gummy tasteless food I’ve ever had.

Middlebury's best option for Chinese food as far as I'm concerned. Nobody's reinventing the wheel here, and I wish the spicy items were actually as spicy as claimed, but it's always my trusted go-to. DC 1, General Tso's Chicken Dinner Combo, is my standard order. It comes with pork fried rice (white rice optional), a spring role and two crab rangoons for less than $8. You can't go wrong. Portions are huge. I usually get two meals from one order. I've never actually eaten there, I always get it to go. Decor is sparse and it seems a little lonely but you can't knock the food. Give it a try.

Great food. The woman there is very very rude. I have been going there since they opened very consistently and she is very short and rude. She became disrespectful at one point and I stopped going for almost 5 years. Since going back I have received same results. They closed their seating and turned it into a play room for their kids. Very unprofessional.

The food is excellent. This is a take out only restaurant. 10-20 min takeout time for pickup generally. Would recommend.
