About Magic Wok
Welcome to Magic Wok, a Chinese Restaurant situated at US, 2327 SW 336th St in Federal Way, Washington. Located near Angelica's restaurant on 337th, Magic Wok offers a range of Chinese dishes, primarily for takeout, based on available information. You can contact them at (253) 838-2329 or their mobile number, +1 253-838-2329, for inquiries or to place an order.
Based on the limited information from customer reviews, specific details about the environment of Magic Wok are not extensively described. One reviewer noted the restaurant's location relative to Angelica's, suggesting a possibly unassuming or standard storefront. The absence of comments regarding the interior ambiance implies that the focus might be more on takeout service rather than a significant dine-in experience. Potential customers may need to visit the location to ascertain the dine-in facilities, if any.
The primary service offered by Magic Wok, as indicated by the reviews, is takeout. Customers have placed orders for a variety of items, including combination dinners, individual dishes like chow mein and spicy garlic chicken, as well as beverages like bubble tea. One reviewer mentioned that their order was for takeout, and another's detailed feedback on a combination dinner also suggests a takeout experience. While one positive comment was made about the friendliness of the staff at the front end, there is no mention of dine-in service quality. Therefore, it is reasonable to infer that takeout is a significant part of their service model.
Customer reviews provide mixed and largely negative feedback on the food quality at Magic Wok. One customer ordered chow mein and orange chicken. While they found the orange chicken to be "yummy" and it improved the taste of the chow mein, the chow mein itself was considered "just ok," not outstanding. This suggests that the quality of different dishes might vary. The same reviewer also ordered a bubble tea with rainbow jelly, which they found to have an unpleasant "lotion" flavor, leading to significant dissatisfaction with that particular item. Additionally, they paid extra for rice that was described as being from the bottom of the pan, making it rough and difficult to chew, which is a significant flaw in a staple dish.
Another customer, who mentioned that Magic Wok used to be one of their favorite places before it was sold, had a very negative experience with a recent order. They got a combination dinner consisting of chicken chow mein, almond fried chicken with gravy, and fried rice, while their brother ordered BBQ pork chow mein. The gravy was described as white, floury, and extremely sweet, unlike the flavorful gravy they remembered. The chicken chow mein was criticized for using unusually thick and mushy noodles, with the chicken pieces being the only palatable part. The fried rice lacked flavor, which the reviewer found surprising as they make good fried rice themselves. They also had wonton soup where the broth was mediocre and the wontons were super mushy and tasted off. This comprehensive negative feedback strongly suggests a decline in food quality since the change in ownership.
One customer ordered the Spicy Garlic chicken at level 3, expecting it to be very hot based on what they had read, but found it was not spicy at all. This indicates a potential inconsistency in the preparation of dishes and a possible misrepresentation of spice levels. The overall sentiment from both detailed reviews is one of disappointment, with both customers stating they would not return. One reviewer explicitly mentioned that the food was not worth the high price they paid for it.
The only positive comment was about the friendliness of the staff member at the front end, who the first reviewer hoped would receive their tip. While friendly service is important, it does not compensate for significant issues with food quality.
Currently, there is no promotional information available for Magic Wok based on the provided reviews. Given the negative feedback on food quality and the lack of positive mentions regarding value or special offers, it is difficult to ascertain if they have any ongoing promotions. Local users might consider contacting the restaurant directly to inquire about any current specials, although the recent customer experiences suggest caution.
In conclusion, Magic Wok in Federal Way, WA, is a Chinese Restaurant primarily offering takeout, based on available reviews. While one staff member was noted for being friendly, the feedback on the food quality is largely negative. Customers reported issues with a lotion-flavored bubble tea, hard and poorly prepared rice, bland or incorrectly prepared main dishes like the spicy garlic chicken and a combination dinner with subpar gravy, noodles, and fried rice, as well as mushy wonton soup. The overall consensus from these reviews is that the food is not worth the price, and customers do not plan to return, with one suggesting a decline in quality after a change in ownership. Potential local users should be aware of these recent experiences when considering Magic Wok. Contacting the restaurant directly for any current promotions or to inquire about their current food preparation might be advisable, keeping in mind the predominantly negative recent feedback.

I just finished my food from Magic Wok next to Angelicas restaurant on 337th For how expensive it came out to be, it's not worth it. I got a bubble tea with Rainbow jelly, I'm going to be honest I hit up Pho tai weekly!! My bubble tea has the flavor of like lotion I had my lady try it. She agrees... so I'm pretty bummed about that. My rice was $5 extra, and you can tell it was from the bottom of the pan because it was really difficult to chew. i mean rough. Rice shouldn't be like what I experienced. I got the Spicy Garlic chicken on level 3. I read that it's super hot. It wasn't. So all in all my experience with that place I'm not returning. The guy who worked the front end was nice, though. I hope the tip I left goes to him.
This was one of my favorite places but was sold and now I couldn't eat the food. I got a combination dinner and my brother got BBQ pork chow Mein. My combination consisted of chicken Chow Mein, Almond fried chicken and that always has gravy that is very flavorful and Fried rice. Gravy was white and raised like flour and extremely sweet as well not good at all. The chicken Chow Mein only thing that was good in it was the pieces of chicken, Noodles used were not the normal sized Chow Mein noodles very thick and mushy very disgusting. Fried rice usually has good flavor this time no flavor and fried rice is not hard to cook right I make fried rice and always has very good flavor. I also had wonton soup broth was mediocre at best and well the Win Tons in it were super mushy and didn't taste right so needless to say I will not be back and I have a feeling this place with no customers in it will not succeed when a person can go to a sit down restaurant with way better food for the same price and this was takeout.
So, I hate to leave such a harsh review but I spent $69 on fried rice, mushroom chicken, spicy chicken and a side of pot stickers. When I tell you this was the most bland food I’ve ever tasted in my life. There was absolutely no flavor in any of the food and the fried rice tasted so weird. There was not enough soy sauce or siracha in the world that could have saved that fried rice! And the pot stickers were undercooked! I just feel like for that price… I would not recommend. And honestly even if the prices were better and my total came out to only $20.. the food still wouldn’t be worth eating. It was all pretty inedible. Also the food safety rating on the door said “okay”…
Magic wok, Bad service. Bad communication . The place looks run down. Needs to be shut down immediately. We ordered the house Fried rice, but we got the chicken fried rice. I recommend all of you not to eat at this place at all. It’s horrible. The inside felt really dirty!
We ordered delivery. And honestly, after the first few bites, i wanted to call up the restaurant and tell them thank you! And i hate being on the phone! 🤣 I’ve paid ridiculous amounts for subpar chinese food, and been really disappointed. But this place is affordable and so so so tasty! I just want to give y’all a hug for making my day. The almond chicken??!!! I actually think i died and went to heaven. Super great first impressions, i appreciate the quick service as well!
