About Magic Wok

While the platform category is Chinese Restaurant, Magic Wok primarily operates as a delivery and takeout service for local users in Houston. Located at 2513 Bagby St APT 1605, Houston, TX 77006, USA, Magic Wok offers a convenient way to enjoy Chinese cuisine at home or on the go.

Based on customer reviews, Magic Wok is considered a great spot for a Chinese lunch. Despite some initial hesitation from other reviews, one customer found the General Tso's chicken and Hot and Sour soup to be excellent, noting that the chicken was not greasy or overly sauced and the egg roll was a good size. This suggests a focus on getting classic dishes right.

Information from a more detailed review indicates that Magic Wok is a tiny restaurant primarily geared towards delivery, with very little space for dining in. It's usually empty, suggesting minimal waiting time for takeout orders. The food is described as decent, with prices ranging from $8.00 to $14.00, typical for the Midtown area. The reviewer noted the use of thin styrofoam plates, which was a minor disappointment.

Magic Wok offers homemade-style Chinese food, and the delivery service is highlighted as being fast and usually on time. Convenient parking spaces are also mentioned as a plus for those picking up orders. While the ambiance for dine-in is lacking, the focus on efficient delivery and takeout seems to be a key feature.

Specific dishes mentioned include Mongolian Beef, described as not bad with an interesting sweet and sour flavor, and Curry Chicken, which had a good amount of vegetables and chicken but could have used more curry. The Green Bean Chicken was considered decent but lacking in flavor. The Mongolian Beef is specifically recommended. Overall, Magic Wok appears to be a reliable option for Chinese delivery and takeout in Houston, particularly for lunch, with good service and manageable prices.

First off the other reviewers almost had me pass this by. But knowing how petty people are I stopped by anyway. This is a great Chinese Lunch spot. Definitely should be busier at lunch. General Tso and Hot and Sour soup is great. Chicken is not greasy, soggy, or smothered in sauce. Its just right. Egg roll is a good size as well. Will definitely come here to get my Chinese fix from now on.

--- NK Score = 6.5/10 --- 6/10 = Furniture/Ambience 7/10 = Food Quality 6/10 = Prices/Services (Other Ratings Hidden) _____________________________________________ =( BASIC INFO )= - Tiny Restaurant, Mostly Delivery - Usually Empty, Little Waiting Time - Decent Foods ( $8.00 - $14.00 ) - Uses Thin Styrofoam Plates, Meh - Homemade Style Foods, Chinese - Midtown $$ Prices, Good Service - Convenient Parking Spaces _____________________________________________ = Atmosphere = Really tiny little restaurant with almost nothing inside, probably not a good idea to dine in, but they do have good delivery service / takeout. _____________________________________________ = Food Quality = - Mongolian Beef ($9.95): Not bad, has an interesting sweet and sour flavor that's soft to the tongue. Also, the beef used was pretty basic, but the mixture of scallions, carrots, and onions make the dish a whole lot better. Ok price and portion for Midtown. - Curry Chicken ($9.25): A good load of vegetables and chicken, but lacking a little on curry portions. The flavor is alright, kinda has a homemade Chinese dish feel to it. Ok to try, but not that amazing. - Green Bean Chicken ($9.25): Decent chicken and green beans, but the flavor didn't really kick in. Wouldn't recommend this dish, but it's ok to try. _____________________________________________ = Price / Service = Prices are pretty average for a Midtown restaurant, but the styrofoam plates they use are a little disappointing. Possibly a decent place to order delivery as the portions and prices are manageable. Delivery service is pretty good, they're fast and usually on time. _____________________________________________ Recommendations: Mongolian Beef, pretty good dish with a homemade type of feel and flavor. - Signed NK (June 2017) - Images below by Jason Lx (NK)

Phone in order for two Vegetable soups - one with mushrooms and one without. Both orders were fine - they even wrote 'No Mushrooms' on the container. I added my instant noodles to the container (hard to do since the soup was up to the brim....), waited a few minutes and then ate :). Good soup - well packed and courteous service. Will definitely pick up a few more meals in the future.... I've had another soup recently (and they have updated the container from styrofoam) - still delicious, and still packed with veggies. Thanks Magic Wok!

Ordered through Uber eats! Food was not good at all. Chicken with vegetables was very bland & vegetables didn’t seem fresh. Orange chicken was ehhh. The Mongolian beef was more like Mongolian ONIONS! Had minimal meat and was drowning in onions! Very disappointed. Best part was prob steamed rice, dumplings, and free fortune cookie!

This was my first time going to Magic Wok. I went based on another customer's review. The service was quick and friendly. I ordered the egg drop soup. It arrived within two minutes. It was my first time ever trying egg drop soup and I really enjoyed it. There is limited sitting inside. You can take food to go, dine in, or get it delivered for a fair price. Right now they are updating their menu but they have a lot of great options for a great price.
