About Mae Mee Fresh Food and Bakery
Welcome to Mae Mee Fresh Food and Bakery, a unique establishment located at 1928 S Commons in Federal Way, Washington. Operating within the platform category of Chinese Restaurants, Mae Mee distinguishes itself by combining a traditional Chinese restaurant with an in-house bakery, offering a diverse range of fresh food items that extend beyond typical restaurant fare. This combination allows Mae Mee to cater to a broad audience, from those seeking savory Chinese dishes to those looking for freshly baked goods.
As a Chinese restaurant and bakery, Mae Mee provides a dual offering. The restaurant aspect likely features a menu of classic and perhaps contemporary Chinese dishes, prepared with fresh ingredients. The bakery component specializes in a variety of baked goods, which, based on customer reviews, include traditional items like moon cakes and hombao. This integration of a bakery within a Chinese restaurant setting is a notable feature, allowing customers to enjoy a full meal and also purchase baked treats in one location.
Customer reviews for Mae Mee Fresh Food and Bakery present a mixed picture of the experience. One recent update from December 30, 2024, indicates a positive experience where the customer and their partner visited specifically for moon cakes and hombao for a birthday celebration and were pleased to find them available. This reviewer expressed love for the establishment and encouraged others to try both their baked and cooked goods.
An original review also highlighted the positive experience with the BBQ pork hombaos, with the customer stating "WOWWW. So so so good. :)." This initial feedback suggests that some of Mae Mee's offerings, particularly the baked items like hombao, have been well-received.
However, not all feedback has been positive. One reviewer shared a concerning experience regarding the service and food quality. When inquiring if the restaurant was open, the response received was a terse "what do you want." Following this, the food ordered was described as something the reviewer couldn't even identify. A stark comparison was made to Panda Express teriyaki, which the reviewer found superior to what was served at Mae Mee. Specifically, the reviewer claimed there was "no chicken," but rather an unappetizing substance that did not resemble food. This negative review raises significant concerns about the quality and presentation of some of the savory dishes.
Given these contrasting reviews, it is evident that customer experiences at Mae Mee Fresh Food and Bakery can vary. The positive feedback focuses on the bakery items, particularly the moon cakes and BBQ pork hombao, suggesting these might be specialties of the establishment. The negative feedback, however, raises serious questions about the quality and service related to at least one of the savory dishes ordered. Potential customers should be aware of this mixed feedback when considering Mae Mee.
As a Chinese restaurant, Mae Mee likely offers a menu that includes a range of traditional Chinese cuisine. While specific dishes beyond the BBQ pork hombao and the unidentified "teriyaki" are not mentioned, one might expect to find items such as fried rice, noodle dishes, various meat and vegetable stir-fries, and perhaps soups and appetizers. The bakery aspect adds another dimension, with items like hombao (steamed buns with various fillings, such as BBQ pork), and moon cakes (traditional Chinese pastries often filled with sweet bean paste or lotus seed paste, typically eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival). The availability of moon cakes in December suggests they might be offered beyond the traditional festival period, possibly as a popular item.
Details about the environment of Mae Mee Fresh Food and Bakery are not provided in the reviews. However, establishments that combine a restaurant and bakery often have a setup where customers can view and purchase baked goods, as well as a separate area for dining. The atmosphere is typically casual and oriented towards both quick service for bakery items and a more relaxed pace for dine-in customers.
In terms of services, Mae Mee offers both dine-in and takeout options, as is common for Chinese restaurants. The positive mention of purchasing baked goods to take away indicates the availability of takeout for bakery items, and it can be inferred that the savory dishes are also available for takeout. The phone numbers provided, (253) 941-3941 and +1 253-941-3941, allow customers to place orders or make inquiries. The interaction described in one of the negative reviews suggests that phone communication might sometimes be abrupt.
Features of Mae Mee Fresh Food and Bakery include its unique combination of a Chinese restaurant and a bakery, offering a diverse selection of both savory and sweet items. The positive reviews highlight the quality of certain baked goods like the BBQ pork hombao and the availability of seasonal or specialty items like moon cakes. The pricing is not explicitly mentioned as a feature, but the willingness of a customer to return for moon cakes suggests that the prices are perceived as reasonable for those items. However, the significant concerns raised about the quality of at least one savory dish are a notable point.
Currently, there is no promotional information available in the provided text. It is common for restaurants and bakeries to offer various promotions, such as daily specials, discounts on certain items, or package deals. To learn about any potential promotions or special offerings at Mae Mee Fresh Food and Bakery, it would be best to contact them directly via phone or visit their location.
In conclusion, Mae Mee Fresh Food and Bakery in Federal Way, WA, presents a unique combination of a Chinese restaurant and bakery. While some customers have had positive experiences with their baked goods, particularly the BBQ pork hombao and moon cakes, there are also significant concerns raised about the quality and service related to at least one of their savory dishes. Potential customers interested in their bakery items may find them appealing, but those looking for reliable quality in savory Chinese cuisine should consider the mixed feedback. Update 12/30/24: I came with my partner for some much needed moon cakes and hombao for my birthday tomorrow, and thankfully there were some!!! I love coming here and hope you try all kinds of their baked or cooked goods! Original review: My mother brought me some of their BBQ pork hombaos and WOWWW. So so so good. :)
When asking if they’re open, they responded with “what do you want” After ordering the food, we received something that’s i don’t even know how to describe. Panda Express teriyaki is better than whatever they serve you here. There’s no chicken, there’s just fan and worm looking bs that doesn’t even look like food.
I've been buying bbq pork buns from this bakery for about 8 years and I don't think I'll ever get tired of them. They're always consistent, fresh and tasty. Maybe a tad pricey but well worth it. Commons mall is always empty too but it's really nice to be able to get in and out quickly and not have to wait in lines plus it's close to the entrance too.
I normally don't write review. The customer service is terrible. When I ordered a meal, a lady was in the counter. She raised her voice on the customer. They need to learn how to make communication with the customers. If I'm not wrong, it is gonna be around 3 or 4 times that I ordered the food right here. They didn't put any spoons or forks in the bag. Hopefully, they better treat the customers better in the future.
Service was quick and friendly. The pineapple bun was amazing. The bbq pork har bow was warmed up while I paid and it was also delicious.
