About Lychee Chinese Restaurant
Lychee Chinese Restaurant is located at 1341 S Atherton St in State College, Pennsylvania, 16801. Based on recent customer feedback, Lychee primarily operates as a takeout establishment serving the local community with a range of Chinese dishes. While the focus appears to be on takeout service, it is possible that limited dine-in options are also available, although this is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. As a Chinese restaurant, Lychee likely offers a menu featuring popular Chinese-American dishes, catering to those seeking convenient and readily available meals.
Details regarding the environment of Lychee Chinese Restaurant are limited in the provided reviews. One customer explicitly stated, "It’s a takeout place," which suggests that the primary focus is on order pickup rather than an extensive dine-in setting. The absence of comments about the restaurant's ambiance or decor further supports this notion. Therefore, we cannot provide a detailed description of the environment based on the available information. Local users primarily interested in takeout service will likely find the physical setting less of a concern compared to the quality and value of the food.
The primary service offered by Lychee Chinese Restaurant is takeout. Customers can place orders and pick them up from their location at 1341 S Atherton St. While delivery services are not mentioned in the reviews, it is possible that Lychee partners with third-party delivery platforms, which is a common practice for many takeout-focused restaurants. To confirm the availability of delivery options, it would be best to contact Lychee directly. The positive mention of "Larger portions for the full order" suggests that Lychee aims to provide good value in terms of quantity for their takeout customers.
In terms of food quality and features, the recent customer reviews present a mixed picture. One reviewer noted that Lychee offers "Good value for the money" and that the "Taste is all right." They also highlighted the "Larger portions for the full order," indicating a potentially cost-effective option for those seeking a substantial amount of food. However, another more critical review suggests a potential decline in food quality over time. This customer stated, "Lychee used to be good :( now they make everything so oily and salty." This indicates a concern about the current preparation methods leading to excessively oily and salty dishes.
Furthermore, the second reviewer shared an experience regarding specific dietary requests, mentioning, "I written couple times not spicy and they actually made it even spicier :) and this was just funny cuz now they gave all their onions away as well. Like way out of the normal liking…" This suggests potential issues with order accuracy and consistency in ingredient usage. The unusual comment about giving "all their onions away" is unclear but implies an unexpected and negative change in the dish preparation. Interestingly, this reviewer did note one consistently positive item: "the only thing that is always stays good is chicken teriyaki 🥹." This suggests that their chicken teriyaki might be a reliable and well-prepared dish at Lychee.
Based on the provided reviews, a notable feature of Lychee Chinese Restaurant appears to be the value derived from the larger portion sizes offered for full orders. However, this is contrasted by concerns about the food being excessively oily and salty in recent times, as well as potential issues with order accuracy and ingredient consistency. The consistently positive feedback for the chicken teriyaki suggests that this dish might be a particular strength of the restaurant.
Currently, there is no explicit mention of any promotional information or special offers from Lychee Chinese Restaurant in the provided reviews. Local users interested in potential discounts, combo deals, or other promotions should contact the restaurant directly at (814) 308-9198 or +1 814-308-9198 to inquire. It is common for takeout restaurants to offer various specials, especially for larger orders or during certain times, so it would be beneficial to check directly with Lychee for any current offers.
In conclusion, Lychee Chinese Restaurant in State College, PA, primarily functions as a takeout establishment that may offer good value with its larger portion sizes. While one reviewer found the taste to be "all right," another expressed concerns about the food becoming too oily and salty recently, and noted issues with order accuracy and ingredient consistency. The chicken teriyaki was highlighted as a consistently good item. For local users considering Lychee for takeout, it may be prudent to inquire about the current preparation methods and any potential promotions. For the most accurate information regarding their menu, services (including potential delivery or dine-in options), and any special offers, please contact Lychee Chinese Restaurant directly at (814) 308-9198 or +1 814-308-9198 or visit their location at 1341 S Atherton St, State College, PA 16801.

Lychee is one of our standby vegetarian restaurants in town because they make really good tofu. They recently added wheat meat to the menu, and I was pretty excited for the new vegetarian option. However, we received real chicken, and both employees I talked to didn't think that wheat meat was an option, so apparently their staff have not gotten the news about the menu change. If you want to order the wheat meat, I would recommend making extra sure they understand you're asking for a vegetarian option.
"pork" fried rice had three miniscule pieces of pork in it. Spring roll isn't worth the money, as you're better off just sucking on air. Horribly long waits regardless of in store pickup or delivery. The food is good tasting. That's the only reason they get any stars at all.
I ordered my food to go for dinner, everything came in styrofoam. Fried rice looks blah, as does my entree. I asked for duck-sauce with my order, as is USUALLY standard when you buy spring rolls and fried rice... I got one packet for two full dinner orders with two spring rolls. ANNNNND when I went to eat the food I found some kind of metal object, pictures below. Guess where I won't be ordering again?
