Lychee Chinese Food is a Chinese Restaurant located at 224 E Chestnut Ave in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Customer reviews regarding Lychee Chinese Food present a stark contrast in experiences. One enthusiastic reviewer expressed a strong preference for Lychee over other Chinese restaurants in the area. They lauded the service and the staff as "amazing," highlighting the convenience of their delivery service, especially on days when venturing out is undesirable. This customer also praised the freshness and temperature of the delivered food, noting that it consistently arrives hot. Furthermore, they appreciated the restaurant's willingness to accommodate requests or special requirements without excessive charges for add-ons. In terms of pricing, this reviewer found Lychee to be comparable to other establishments in the vicinity, ultimately concluding that Lychee Chinese Food meets all their criteria for "good eats all around."

However, another customer's experience was overwhelmingly negative. This reviewer described their meal as "absolutely the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had," a strong statement considering their claim of having eaten at numerous Chinese restaurants across the United States. They expressed disbelief at the restaurant's continued operation and felt their money would have been better spent elsewhere. The primary complaints centered around the texture and taste of the food, which was described as "mushy" and lacking any discernible flavor, as if hot water had been poured over it. This extremely negative review raises significant concerns about the consistency and quality of the food at Lychee Chinese Food.

The contrasting feedback makes it challenging to form a definitive overall assessment of Lychee Chinese Food. The positive review emphasizes excellent service, reliable delivery, fresh and hot food, a willingness to accommodate requests, and reasonable pricing. These are all crucial aspects that many diners value in a Chinese restaurant. The negative review, however, paints a picture of extremely poor food quality, which is obviously a fundamental concern for any dining establishment.

Given these divergent opinions, potential customers should be aware of the possibility of varying experiences at Lychee Chinese Food. The positive review suggests that some patrons have found it to be a top choice in Altoona, appreciating the service and the quality of the food they received. The negative review serves as a strong caution, indicating that others have had experiences of very poor food quality.

Without more information regarding the environment of the restaurant for dine-in customers (as both reviews seem to be based on takeout or delivery), it is impossible to comment on the ambiance or cleanliness of the physical location. Similarly, promotional information is not provided in the given reviews.

For local users in Altoona considering Lychee Chinese Food, the decision may depend on their individual priorities and risk tolerance. If excellent service and convenient delivery are high on the list, and if the positive review reflects a consistent standard, then Lychee might be a viable option. However, the very negative experience of another customer, particularly concerning the fundamental quality of the food, should not be disregarded. It might be prudent to consider trying a small order initially to gauge the current quality and consistency before placing a larger order.

In conclusion, Lychee Chinese Food in Altoona offers delivery and takeout services and has received strongly contrasting reviews. One customer praises the amazing service, fresh and hot food, and accommodation of special requests, while another describes the food as the worst they have ever tasted, citing mushy texture and lack of flavor. Potential customers should be aware of these differing opinions when deciding whether to order from Lychee Chinese Food. The affordability seems comparable to other local options, and delivery is a noted convenience. However, the significant concerns raised about food quality in one review cannot be overlooked.

Other places in town are OK but I prefer Lychee over them all. The service and people are amazing. They deliver, which is always a blessing for days I don't want to drive out. The food comes fresh and hot! They do their best to honor requests or special requirements and not overcharge an add-on. Prices are comparable to others in the area. Need I say more? Every box is check on my list of what I'd consider good eats all around.

This tonight was absolutely the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had and I have had many many different places across the United States. I’m not sure how they are still in business. I should’ve taken the 40+ dollars and thrown it over the side of the hill. It was almost like a joke. It was so bad. I’ve never tasted food that was so mushy and tasted like someone ran hot water over all of it with absolutely no taste.

I’ve never had unseasoned Chinese food until ordering here… The General Tso chicken tasted like it was frozen from the grocery stores, it was soggy and mushy… why is the chicken soggy? The vegetables in the rice were raw which was confusing and there was no pork in the pork fried rice Just don’t go here. Now I understand why The other Chinese spot is called “Best in Town” because this place sucks.

Got this food last night for the first time in a while and the food was horrible. Not one thing tasted good. Everything taste off and kinda old. Like it had been sits while. And the chicken was so over cooked we couldn’t even chew. It was kinda sad this place used to be our favorite when we lived in Altoona. Not it’s just bad.
