About Lutong Bahay Restaurant

Welcome to Lutong Bahay Restaurant, located at 20 W Somerset St, Raritan, NJ 08869, USA. While listed under the platform category of Chinese Restaurant, Lutong Bahay Restaurant specializes in serving authentic Filipino cuisine. Customer reviews suggest that the quality of dishes can vary, making multiple visits potentially beneficial to discover their specialties.

Based on feedback, some items like Turon were considered subpar, while others like Tapsilog (served with Worcestershire rice instead of garlic rice and a slightly overcooked egg) and BBQ skewers were acceptable but arrived lukewarm. The Nilaga was noted as being concentrated and a little peppery, also arriving lukewarm. However, the Lumpiang Shanghai is highly praised as a standout dish, described as freshly fried, hot, with a thin and crispy wrapper and a moist, juicy filling, even recommended for catering.

Lutong Bahay Restaurant offers breakfast all day, with all breakfast options priced at $7.50 including tax. The food order area is situated in the back corner of a larger, dimly lit dining space, providing a nice and quiet atmosphere for a peaceful meal.

Overall, customer experiences indicate that Lutong Bahay Restaurant offers authentic Filipino food at a great price, with the staff being described as incredible. While some dishes may require exploration to find personal favorites, the Lumpiang Shanghai appears to be a consistent highlight. Local users looking for Filipino flavors in a quiet setting are encouraged to visit Lutong Bahay Restaurant.

This is one of those places where what you order matters and multiple visits are required to determine their specialty. There is a range as some things are subpar, some acceptable, some the standard good enough and a few shine. Examples: - Subpar: Turon - Acceptable: Tapsilog + BBQ skewer (both arrived lukewarm) - Standard good: Nilaga (lukewarm) - Shining star: Lumpiang shanghai Tapsilog is different in that they serve Worcestershire rice rather than stir fried garlic rice. Egg slightly overcooked. Good news is breakfast is served all day. $7.50 for all options and includes tax. Nilaga is concentrated and a little peppery. Their lumpiang shanghai is fantastic. Freshly fried to order so hot upon arrival. While on the tiny side, the wrapper is beautifully thin and crispy and the filling is wonderfully moist and juicy. Still delicious once it cools down too. Highly recommend ordering this for catering! Small food order area is in the back corner within a larger dimly lit dining area. A nice quiet place to eat in peace.

Food was luke warm (but still good.) Service was "eh" the man was not too welcoming. When I tried to pay he was too focused on the TV, we had to stand around until he turned around and noticed us.. ill just stick to my go-to spot.
