About Lucky Wok Asian Cafe
Lucky Wok Asian Cafe, situated at 6732 Forest Hill Dr, Forest Hill, TX 76140, USA, is a Chinese restaurant that appears to be a local establishment, possibly owner-run, based on customer feedback. As a Chinese Restaurant and Asian Cafe, it offers a diverse menu catering to various tastes, including both vegetarian and meat-based options. Reviews suggest that Lucky Wok is appreciated for its generous portions and flavorful dishes, making it a noteworthy option for those seeking satisfying Asian cuisine in the Forest Hill area.
One customer specifically highlighted the "bean curd with veg" dish, describing it as "fabulous" and noting the "generous portion" size. This positive feedback indicates that Lucky Wok offers appealing vegetarian choices that are both tasty and substantial. The reviewer also mentioned a "good variety" on the menu, suggesting that patrons can explore a range of dishes beyond the standard Chinese restaurant fare. The observation that the cafe "apears owner run" might imply a personal touch in the food preparation and service.
Another customer shared their experiences from two separate visits. On their first visit, they tried the Hunan chicken, which they found to be "fairly good," praising the "decent ratio of sauce, meat, and veggies." This suggests a balanced and well-prepared version of a popular Chinese dish. On their second visit, the customer opted for the roast pork with mushrooms. They humorously noted the straightforwardness of the dish, receiving exactly what they ordered: roast pork, mushrooms, and sauce, without additional filler vegetables. This indicates that Lucky Wok provides dishes that are true to their description, which might appeal to those who prefer specific ingredient combinations. The reviewer speculated that the "dark smooth sauce" accompanying the roast pork and mushrooms was possibly oyster sauce-based, suggesting a rich and savory flavor profile. They also found the steamed rice to be "pretty average," which is a common expectation for this staple accompaniment in many Chinese restaurants.
Overall, this second reviewer had "no real complaints at all about any of the food" they tried, indicating a general satisfaction with the quality and taste. They also positively commented on the service provided by the lady who rang them up on both occasions. This staff member was described as "nice," and attentive to customer needs, such as asking if soy sauce was needed and adding a fork to the takeout bag. These small gestures contribute to a positive customer service experience.
While the food and service received positive remarks, the same reviewer noted that the "interior of the restaurant is a bit dingy" and that "the menu above the counter is clearly fairly old." These observations suggest that the ambiance might be somewhat dated or lacking in modern aesthetics. Additionally, the reviewer pointed out the continued presence of "plastic shielding up on the counter from quarantine days" and a limited number of chairs and tables in the dining area. These details indicate that Lucky Wok might primarily cater to takeout orders or that the dine-in facilities are not a major focus. The lingering effects of pandemic-era safety measures on the restaurant's layout are also evident.
Despite the less-than-ideal interior ambiance, the reviewer concluded that Lucky Wok is "definitely worth a try" and expressed their intention to return from time to time to explore more of the menu. This suggests that the quality of the food and the pleasant service outweigh the concerns about the restaurant's decor and dining area. The willingness of a customer to become a repeat patron speaks volumes about the positive aspects of their experience.
Based on these reviews, Lucky Wok Asian Cafe appears to be a Chinese restaurant that prioritizes the quality and quantity of its food. The generous portions, flavorful dishes like the bean curd with veg and Hunan chicken, and the straightforward preparation of items like the roast pork with mushrooms are notable features. The friendly and attentive service provided by at least one staff member also contributes to a positive customer experience. While the interior ambiance might be less appealing and the dine-in facilities limited, these factors seem to be secondary to the food and service for the customers who have shared their feedback.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in these reviews. However, the positive word-of-mouth regarding the food and service serves as an implicit recommendation for local users in Forest Hill and the surrounding areas. If you are looking for a Chinese restaurant that offers substantial portions of tasty food with friendly service, Lucky Wok Asian Cafe is presented as a worthwhile option to consider. The variety in their menu suggests that there are dishes to suit different preferences, and the positive remarks on both vegetarian and meat options indicate a broad appeal.
In summary, Lucky Wok Asian Cafe in Forest Hill, TX, is a Chinese restaurant that stands out for its generous portions of flavorful Asian cuisine, including well-received vegetarian and meat dishes. The service is noted as friendly and attentive. While the interior might be somewhat dated and the dine-in experience limited, the positive feedback on the food quality and portion sizes, coupled with the good service, makes Lucky Wok a recommended spot for locals seeking a satisfying Chinese meal. The willingness of customers to return and explore more of the menu further attests to the positive aspects of this establishment.

Had the bean curd with veg, fabulous, generous portion, apears owner run. Good variety.
Today was the second time I have visited Lucky Wok. The first time, I had the Hunan chicken, which was fairly good. A decent ratio of sauce, meat, and veggies. This time, I had the roast pork with mushrooms. I thought they might add some carrots, onions, or some other veggies as a little filler between the pork and the mushrooms, but nope. lol! I got exactly what I asked for, roast pork, mushrooms, and some sauce. If you like mushrooms, definitely go for it. The sauce was a dark smooth sauce, possibly oyster sauce as a base. The steamed rice is pretty average. No real complaints at all about any of the food. The lady who has rang me up twice is nice, asks if you need soy sauce, adds a fork to your bag, etc. the interior of the restaurant is a bit dingy. The menu above the counter is clearly fairly old. They still have the plastic shielding up on the counter from quarantine days, and there still aren’t many chairs or tables out in the dining area. Overall, it’s definitely worth a try. I’ll absolutely be coming in from time to time to keep trying various menu selections.
The fried rice was not even close to good...ordered extra shrimp. I asked if I could pay for the large shrimp..NOPE. I asked if I could add jalapeno peppers...yes for $1 a piece. I honestly have never tasted fried rice like this...I have eaten here many times. The customer service was great.....it's the food is terrible....I spent 58.00 this is just my experience...I can not recommend I will not recommend
My son grnerally picks this up for me as take out. I have had several entres from the menu and I am always satisfied. The food is never cold, and the portion sizes and prices are good. I have said that you can pretty much get almost any Chinese dish as well as some American dishes here at Luckys. It is worth a try.
I was in the area and was craving some Singapore style noodles and Hot and Sour soup. Portions were generous and enough for 2 people to feast on. Quick and friendly, I was extremely satisfied with all items in my order. Definitely coming back if in the area. Very close to all the hotels in that block. Priced right.
