About Lucky Start

Lucky Start is a Chinese restaurant located at 151 SW 257th Dr in Troutdale, OR 97060, placing it within the platform category of Chinese Restaurants. Local users seeking Chinese cuisine in the Troutdale area can contact Lucky Start at their phone number: (971) 825-4068 or their mobile phone: +1 971-825-4068. As a Chinese restaurant, Lucky Start likely offers a menu featuring a variety of traditional and perhaps Americanized Chinese dishes, catering to local tastes for takeout and potentially dine-in customers.

Based on the limited customer feedback available, it's important for potential patrons to consider the experiences shared by recent diners. One customer recounts a series of visits, noting a decline in their overall satisfaction over time. During their initial visit, they described the experience as "good," with a large portion size and food that was "not great but good." However, subsequent visits revealed changes that negatively impacted their perception of value. Firstly, the restaurant transitioned from "great paper containers" to foam containers, accompanied by a slight reduction in portion size, which the customer deemed "not good overall." The third visit brought further changes, including a switch to "tiny plastic containers with two compartments" and a more significant reduction in portion size. Additionally, this customer noted a new charge of $2.08 for choosing noodles instead of rice, leading to a total meal cost of approximately $17.00 for a quantity that left them still feeling hungry. Consequently, this reviewer personally informed the restaurant that they would not be returning, citing a lack of value and expressing concern that the business might experience a slowdown if it doesn't revert to its initial practices. They concluded with a "Good Lucky" but reiterated their decision not to return.

Another customer review focuses primarily on the flavor profile of the food. While acknowledging that the "meat and all that might taste really well," they ultimately found the food to be "blah" and expressed disappointment at the lack of available sauces for customization. As a lover of teriyaki sauce and similar condiments, this reviewer was dissatisfied with the absence of any sauces to add to their meal. This lack of flavor enhancement options contributed to their overall negative impression, leading them to state that they "didn’t think it taste very well" and that they would not be returning. The inclusion of emojis (🤨😢) further underscores their disappointment with the dining experience.

Considering these two reviews, several potential aspects of Lucky Start can be inferred. Regarding portion sizes, there appears to be a trend of decreasing quantity over time, coupled with an increase in cost for certain substitutions like noodles. This could be a significant factor for price-sensitive customers or those who value generous servings. The packaging has also changed, with one customer expressing a preference for the initial paper containers over the subsequent foam and then plastic options, although the impact of this on the dining experience is subjective.

In terms of food quality, one review suggests that while the ingredients might be of decent quality ("meat and all that might taste really well"), the overall flavor profile is perceived as bland ("blah"). The absence of sauces for customization is also a notable drawback for at least one customer, indicating a potential limitation in catering to varied taste preferences. This lack of available sauces might be a distinguishing feature of Lucky Start's offerings, but it was not positively received by this particular reviewer.

The environment and services of Lucky Start are not explicitly detailed in these reviews. However, as a Chinese restaurant, it likely offers standard services such as takeout, and potentially dine-in options. The focus of the feedback is primarily on the food itself – portion sizes, packaging, and flavor – as well as the pricing structure with the additional charge for noodle substitution.

No information about any current promotional offers or special features of Lucky Start is provided in the given text. Local users interested in knowing about any discounts, combo deals, or unique dishes offered by the restaurant would need to contact them directly using the provided phone numbers. It would also be beneficial to look for additional reviews on other online platforms to gain a broader understanding of the overall customer experience.

In conclusion, the limited recent feedback for Lucky Start in Troutdale, OR, suggests potential concerns regarding decreasing portion sizes, changes in packaging, additional charges for noodle substitutions, and a perceived lack of flavor in the food, coupled with an absence of available sauces. While one early experience was described as "good," recent changes have led at least two customers to express their intent not to return due to these issues. Local users considering Lucky Start should weigh these points carefully and perhaps seek further information before making a decision. Contacting the restaurant directly might provide insights into any recent changes or promotions that could influence their experience.

I've been here three different times. First time it was a good experience, big portion, and the food was not great but good. Second time they switched from the great paper containers to foam containers and the portion was a little smaller. Overall not good. The third time however, they switched to a tiny plastic containers with two compartments and the portion much smaller even. On top now they charge $2.08 additional for the choice of noodles instead of rice. So about $17.00 dollars for a meal that after I was done I was still hungry. I've told them personally that I will not be back. I just don't see the value in it. So, Lucky Start you did good at the Start but, if you've noticed that lately you're business is slow, it will get much slower if you don't get back to that first Start. Good Lucky. I will not be returning.

The food in the meat and all that might taste really well, but it was blah and they have no sauces for you to add. I love teriyaki sauce and all that they had nothing for you to put on it whatsoever. I just didn’t think it taste very well I won’t be back ?!!🤨😢

Food is good, HOWEVER I ordered the green bean chicken & chicken lo mein (I figured I had lunch for tomorrow too!)...asked for extra sauce but they charged me $2.50 for mixed vegetables...?! What I asked for was NO onions & NO celery, could they give me a little more carrots or broccoli...she said, "so you want just chicken, noodle?"...I said NO, repeated my request & I verified that the bean sprouts were OK too. I was NOT looking for an extra portion (except sauce, but if they made mine a little soupy NO issues) but I figured, I'm traveling through town for work, let's see what happens...I got my food back to my motel room, my container had NO onion & NO celery (thank you) HOWEVER, there was NO sauce, food was DRY, & the green bean chicken did NOT have the fried rice I asked for...we even discussed which one they had left as I was there 30min b4 closing. Really sucked not having a great experience here becuz I thought the idea of a food truck is you could have a cordial conversation about food with other foodies... I cannot recommend this restaurant/food truck to anyone who needs or requests ANYTHING other than the menu items straight.

I had a craving for egg flour soup and this place didn’t disappoint. As per the reviews about customer service, I thought the lady at the window was nice enough. It’s not uncommon for foreign/immigrant restaurant owners to be short and too the point so I don’t let that be a deterrent. I prefer to let the food do the talking 😉
