Located at 148 Visitacion Ave in Brisbane, California, Lucky House Restaurant stands out as a highly recommended establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, celebrated for its delicious food, excellent value, and a distinct homemade taste. According to enthusiastic local patrons, Lucky House Restaurant offers a special dining experience that sets it apart from other Chinese eateries in the area. If you're a resident of Brisbane or nearby, seeking a satisfying and flavorful Chinese meal that feels closer to home-cooked, Lucky House Restaurant is a destination you should consider.
One of the recurring themes in the customer reviews is the exceptional taste and quality of the food offered at Lucky House Restaurant. A first-time visitor described it as a "great find," praising the "great tasting Chinese food" and highlighting the "excellent value." This initial positive impression was reinforced by the specific dishes ordered, including beef chow mein, broccoli chicken, black bean sauce chicken, and mapo tofu, all of which were reported to be delicious. This broad satisfaction across different menu items suggests a consistent level of quality in their cooking.
For those who have recently relocated to Brisbane, Lucky House Restaurant has quickly become a favorite, even when compared to the diverse and highly-regarded Chinese food scene of nearby San Mateo. This speaks volumes about the unique appeal and flavor profiles found at Lucky House. The sentiment that it's a "special place" further emphasizes the positive impact this restaurant has on its customers.
A key aspect of the Lucky House experience seems to be the pleasant interaction with the staff, particularly "the gentleman inside" who is consistently described as "very pleasant." This personal touch and friendly service can significantly enhance the overall dining experience, making patrons feel welcome and valued. Combined with the delicious food, it contributes to the restaurant's positive reputation.
The food at Lucky House is frequently described as tasting "home made" and "so delicious!" This suggests a cooking style that prioritizes authentic flavors and perhaps avoids the overly processed or heavily sauced approach sometimes found in other Chinese restaurants. This "homemade" quality seems to be a significant factor in why customers rave about the taste.
Several specific dishes have garnered particular praise. The salt and pepper wings are a standout item, with one reviewer exclaiming, "We especially love the salt and pepper wings (the salt flavor is so tasty!! I don’t know what salt he uses but it’s so amazing)." The accompanying blend of green onions and other seasonings sprinkled on top is also highlighted as "awesome," indicating a thoughtful attention to detail in flavor layering. This dish appears to be a must-try for anyone visiting Lucky House Restaurant.
Another highly recommended dish is the chicken fried rice, described simply as "also amazing!!!" This concise yet enthusiastic endorsement suggests that even a staple dish like fried rice is executed exceptionally well at Lucky House, further demonstrating their culinary prowess across different categories of Chinese cuisine.
The hot and sour soup is also mentioned as a favorite, adding another classic Chinese dish to the list of must-try items. The reviewer explicitly recommends that new visitors "just have to go and at least try these few items," providing clear guidance on some of the restaurant's most beloved dishes.
An interesting and significant point raised by a reviewer is that the food at Lucky House tastes "healthier and less oily than other Chinese food we have had - sort of how it would taste if you make it at home!" This perception of a lighter and less greasy preparation style could be a major draw for health-conscious diners or those who prefer a more natural and less processed taste in their Chinese food.
Finally, the egg rolls at Lucky House receive perhaps the highest praise, being declared "Best egg rolls we have ever had!" The reviewer attributes this exceptional taste to a unique spice, speculating that it might be allspice or cloves, which adds a distinctive and memorable flavor. This uniqueness makes the egg rolls another compelling reason to visit Lucky House Restaurant. The enthusiastic recommendation to try Lucky House if you are in Brisbane underscores its status as a local gem.
In conclusion, Lucky House Restaurant in Brisbane offers a delightful and satisfying Chinese dining experience characterized by great tasting, seemingly homemade food and excellent value. The friendly service further enhances its appeal. Standout dishes like the uniquely flavored salt and pepper wings, the amazing chicken fried rice, the well-regarded hot and sour soup, and the exceptionally spiced egg rolls make it a must-visit for locals and those passing through Brisbane. The perception of the food being healthier and less oily adds another layer of appeal. What a great find! Excellent value; great tasting Chinese food. I ordered the beef chow mein; broccoli chicken; black bean sauce chicken and mapo tofu. Everything tasted great. I would definitely recommend.
We just moved here from San Mateo and have had lots of amazing Chinese food but this is our favorite!!! It’s a special place and the gentleman inside is very pleasant each time I’ve gone and everything tastes home made and so delicious!. The food flavor is just amazing! We especially love the salt and pepper wings (the salt flavor is so tasty!! I don’t know what salt he uses but it’s so amazing) and it comes with a blend of green onions and other things sprinkled on top that are just awesome! The chicken fried rice is also amazing!!! Hot and sour soup also a favorite - you just have to go and at least try these few items. The other thing is it tastes healthier and less oily than other Chinese food we have had - sort of how it would taste if you make it at home! Best egg rolls we have ever had! It has a spice in it that really makes it taste good I think it might be allspice or cloves or something like that but wow! If you are in Brisbane you must try it!
Would be nice if they list that they were take out only.
We found this hole in the wall that was really good. I ordered the hot and sour soup, egg rolls, chicken noodles and a shrimp dish.. everything was delicious! Only take out at the moment and cash only.. be prepared. So worth it ! Sorry I didn't take pictures. Parking is on the street.
I have lived in town for almost 9 years and never eaten here because the smell walking by always smelled like a grease pit (and it is) and we would order from across the street. However, I had a special via Alaska Airlines Dining to order and I wanted to try it out and give them a chance. We ordered take-out on an idle Saturday and it didn't seem busy when we arrived we were the only order at 5 pm. We ordered Hot and Sour Soup, Shrimp Chow Mein, Sichuan Shrimp, and General Shrimp with rice. We didn't get Sichuan Shrimp and instead got a chicken dish which was average especially when you want spicy, just really wanted the Sichuan Shrimp and my spouse missed out because of being a pescatarian. My thoughts about the food BASIC for the prices. After walking back up the hill home, we decided it was too much effort to have them fix the order and I ate the chicken dish, but we did pay for shrimp. Shrimp = 2 to 4 shrimps per dish! Personally, we like better quality Chinese food, but for a quick meal, this would be adequate but not something you want to showcase with friends/family. The service was good and the chef was helpful. I don't understand why they don't have spicy mustard. I can't give them a bad review, but I can say an average one and messing up an order when its not busy makes me wonder if he was on his phone the whole time like when we arrived.
