About Lucky House

Located at 317 E Smith St, Kent, WA 98030, USA, Lucky House stands as a prominent and well-regarded Chinese Restaurant, celebrated especially for its authentic Cantonese Dim Sum. This family-owned establishment has carved out a niche for itself by offering a traditional dim sum experience, complete with cart service, making it a bustling and popular spot, particularly on weekends. For those in Kent and the surrounding areas seeking a taste of genuine Chinese culinary tradition, Lucky House presents itself as a compelling and satisfying option.

The environment at Lucky House is characterized by its lively and bustling atmosphere, especially on a Sunday afternoon, as evidenced by a nearly full parking lot. Despite the busyness, the restaurant maintains a pleasant, spacious, and tidy ambiance, suggesting a commitment to providing a comfortable dining experience. It's a "mom and pops spot" with a family-friendly environment, and the presence of lazy Susan turntables makes it convenient for large groups to share a variety of dishes. The windows from the outside are dark, so it may be hard to see inside, but once you step in, you'll find a welcoming space. This traditional dim sum setting, combined with its popularity, creates an authentic and engaging atmosphere that transports diners to a classic Chinese dining experience.

The services at Lucky House are a blend of traditional dim sum service and modern efficiency. A key feature is the appreciated cart service dim sum, where ladies push carts laden with steaming hot or freshly fried dim sum items directly to the tables, allowing diners to select dishes on the spot without the need to order from a menu and wait. This traditional approach is a significant draw for dim sum enthusiasts. Service is consistently described as "fast and friendly," and "speedy," contributing to a positive customer experience. While some initial interactions with staff might be perceived as reserved, customers often find them to be kind and attentive, even complimenting children. The restaurant is also known for its responsiveness to problems, correcting them quickly. In addition to dine-in, Lucky House offers takeout and catering services, further enhancing its convenience for customers. Free Wi-Fi and wheelchair accessibility are also available, making it welcoming to a diverse clientele.

The culinary features of Lucky House are a major highlight, with a strong emphasis on generously portioned and flavorful dim sum. Customers consistently praise the quality and size of the dumplings. Key dishes that receive high acclaim include:

  • Siu Mai: Described as "huge" and a "good three biter," indicating a substantial and satisfying portion.
  • Steamed Shrimp Dumplings (Har Gow): These are lauded for being "smooth with chunks of shrimp" – a simple yet delicious rendition of a dim sum classic.
  • Steamed Shrimp and Chive Dumplings: Praised for being "made fresh" and worth the wait, with the chive adding a "nice flavor."
  • Green Beans with Garlic: A surprising standout, noted as "the best garlic green beans I’ve had," with a whole takeout container offered for a great price.

The food is consistently described as "delicious, hot and fresh." While some non-steamed dishes might occasionally be lukewarm, the overall consensus on food quality is overwhelmingly positive. Another notable feature is their chili oil, which, despite its name, is described as "not that spicy at all," allowing customers to "douse" their dumplings in it without overwhelming heat. This indicates a flavorful, accessible chili oil that enhances the dining experience without being overly intense. The generous portion sizes across the menu are also a significant value proposition, with customers noting that prices are reasonable for the substantial amount of food received.

While specific promotional information beyond the inherent value of their large portions and reasonable pricing isn't explicitly detailed in the provided reviews, Lucky House's consistent popularity and positive word-of-mouth serve as its best advertisement. The restaurant's website indicates they offer "Dim Sum all day everyday," as well as "Lunch and Dinner Specials" and "Family Dinners," implying a variety of value-driven options available to patrons. Given its family-owned nature and focus on traditional service, Lucky House may also occasionally run unadvertised specials or offer unique items on the dim sum carts. For the most current information on any promotions, menu details, or to make reservations, it is highly recommended to contact Lucky House directly. You can reach them by phone at (253) 520-1688 or via mobile at +1 253-520-1688. The enthusiastic reviews and desire for repeat visits from customers, particularly for their fresh and substantial dim sum offerings and friendly service, make Lucky House a highly recommended destination for authentic Chinese cuisine in Kent, WA.

We stopped by after picking up Megastar to go. We needed dumplings to pair with our roast pork and roast duck combo we had just ordered from Megastar. Thankfully they were across the street so we didn’t have to travel far. The restaurant was busy on a Sunday afternoon. The parking lot was almost full. I ordered the siu mai, steamed shrimp dumplings, steamed shrimp and chive dumplings, and the green beans with garlic. I paid $36 for everything. What a great price. The dumplings were all huge. The siu mai were a good three biter. The shrimp dumplings were smooth with chunks of shrimp. A simple yet delicious har gow. We also really enjoyed the shrimp and chive. These were made fresh , I had to wait a little longer for these to come out. Well worth it. The chive gave it a nice flavor. A good price for sizes. Also the green beans! A whole takeout container for $7 . The best garlic green beans I’ve had. You must try their chili oil as well! Not that spicy at all. I could finally douse my dumplings in a chili oil. Can’t wait to come back and try more dumplings.

Fast and friendly service. I appreciate the cart service dim sum, but I was a bit disappointed that the non-steamed dishes were somewhat cold and the dishes were pretty pricey.

I met a Facebook Marketplace buyer at this spot and decided to try out the dim sum. Surprisingly, it was delicious! Don't judge a book by its cover. The friendliness of the staff varied; some were nice, while others were not so much. They do offer spacious parking on-site. The atmosphere is pleasant, spacious, and tidy. I'd rate this place a solid 4.5 overall.

I dined in at Lucky House with my family for lunch, and it was a wonderful experience. The staff were attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. We ordered a variety of dishes, including radish cake, shrimp rice noodle roll, pea vines, shrimp & chive, steamed bean curd roll, and several other dim sum items. Each dish was delicious, and the chili oil was particularly flavorful, pairing well with the food. I also appreciated the quick and efficient service. Overall, I highly recommend Lucky House. I would come back!

*** we returned for Dim Sum this weekend and it was the first time we had had cart service in years. It was a fully enjoyable experience and we will be back. The Siu Mai Dumplings are excellent but my favorite is the sticky rice and steamed black bean spareribs. My husband really enjoyed the steamed bean curd roll and the deep fried shrimp dumpling. We tried a lot of items but there's so many more to come back for. We ordered take out from here tonight for the first time and I'm really glad we did. Excellent customer service from the gentleman that took our order over the phone and then helped us when we arrived. We'll definitely be coming back for Dim Sum service. We ordered the house special chow mein with crispy noodles, Bok choy with garlic sauce, sweet and sour pork, tofu stuffed with shrimp, Siu Mai dumplings and sesame balls. I really appreciate when a place knows how to pack their food for takeout and everything stays hot and crispy. The house Chow Mein was really good but the garlic sauce on the Bok Choy was amazing and we spooned some of the sauce on the noodles too. The sweet and sour pork had a lot of nice big pieces and the batter wasn't too thick or gooey inside. The S&S sauce has zip which I really enjoy. The dumplings are huge and really tasty, you can always tell good Dim Sum by the Siu Mai and these were pretty good. Sesame balls were ok but they're my favorite and I will eat them no matter what. Looking forward to dining in soon
