About Lucky Dragon
Welcome to Lucky Dragon, a Chinese Restaurant located at 274 NE Frontage Rd, Kalama, WA 98625, USA. For local users and travelers passing through Kalama, Lucky Dragon offers a convenient stop for Chinese cuisine. Based on recent customer reviews, the restaurant is known for its generous portion sizes and friendly service, but feedback on the environment and some aspects of the food preparation is mixed, suggesting a need for potential improvements in these areas.
One customer, who had been driving by Lucky Dragon on I-5 for years, decided to finally give it a try. Upon entering, they observed that the restaurant was quite busy, at approximately 80% capacity. They were seated within a couple of minutes, and menus, water, and tea were promptly provided. Their order included the Mongolian beef combo #9 and the almond chicken combo #7, along with hot and sour soup and egg flower soup. They also ordered wine. The soups arrived relatively quickly, within five minutes. However, the main dishes took an additional ten minutes to be served. A notable service lapse occurred when the wine order was forgotten, and the customer had to make an effort to get the waitress's attention to have it served, which happened after they had already finished their dinner. The experience concluded with a further ten-minute wait for the check.
Beyond the service inconsistencies, this reviewer also raised significant concerns about the cleanliness and condition of the restaurant's environment. They noted that the floor appeared dirty and observed signs of roof leaks, including buckling drywall. The state of the bathroom was particularly concerning, with a dirty floor, dirty ventilation, and a lack of paper towels for hand drying. These observations point to potential issues with the upkeep and maintenance of the dining and restroom facilities, which can significantly impact the overall customer experience. Additionally, this reviewer found the pricing to be "above market" and, while acknowledging the generous portions, felt that the sauces were "lacking in flavor." They also noted that parking was limited, which could be an inconvenience for some customers.
In contrast, another customer had a more positive experience, particularly regarding the quantity of food and the friendliness of the staff. They ordered the "combination B for 2 people" at a price point of $20 per person and were impressed by the sheer amount of food received, noting that they had "plenty of leftovers." This reinforces the point about generous portions. This reviewer also praised the service as "fast" and the employees as "so friendly," offering a more favorable perspective on the staff compared to the previous review's account of inattentiveness regarding the wine and the check.
Regarding the food itself, this second reviewer found it to be "good." They specifically mentioned the sesame beef and orange chicken, noting that they requested the sauce on the side, which resulted in the chicken remaining "nice and crispy." This suggests a willingness to accommodate customer preferences in sauce application. The only dish they did not particularly enjoy was the egg roll, which contained shrimp, an ingredient not to their liking. However, they did enjoy the egg flower soup and the pork fried rice, indicating that some dishes were to their satisfaction. This reviewer concluded by stating they would "definitely will come back," suggesting an overall positive impression despite the one disliked item.
Considering these two reviews, Lucky Dragon presents a mixed picture. On the one hand, customers can expect generous portions and, generally, friendly and fast service. The combination meals appear to offer a substantial amount of food for the price. Dishes like the sesame beef and orange chicken (with sauce on the side for crispiness), egg flower soup, and pork fried rice have been well-received by at least one reviewer. However, there are significant concerns raised about the cleanliness and maintenance of the restaurant environment, as well as potential inconsistencies in service attentiveness and the flavor of some sauces. The pricing being above market and the limited parking are also factors that local users might want to consider.
For local users in Kalama, Lucky Dragon offers a Chinese Restaurant known for its large servings, making it a potentially good option for those with hearty appetites or families looking to share. The friendly service, as highlighted by one reviewer, can contribute to a pleasant dining experience. However, the reported issues with cleanliness, the condition of the facilities, and the potential lack of flavor in some sauces are aspects that might deter some customers. The limited parking could also be a factor for those driving to the location.
To get a more comprehensive understanding of the current state of Lucky Dragon, local users might consider recent online reviews from other platforms to see if the trends observed in these two reviews are consistent. Visiting the restaurant in person could also provide insights into the current environment and service standards.
To inquire about their menu, takeout options, or any potential improvements or changes in their service or environment, local users can contact Lucky Dragon at (360) 673-1818 or +1 360-673-1818. Given the mixed feedback, it might be prudent for first-time visitors to manage their expectations and perhaps focus on dishes that have received specific positive mentions, such as the sesame and orange chicken (with sauce on the side) or the soups and fried rice.
In conclusion, Lucky Dragon in Kalama, WA, offers generous portions and generally friendly service, which are significant positives. However, potential customers should be aware of the reported issues regarding cleanliness, facility maintenance, and the flavor of some dishes. The limited parking and above-market pricing are also factors to consider. While some customers have had positive experiences and intend to return, others have raised concerns about the overall dining environment. Local users are encouraged to weigh these factors and perhaps explore recent feedback from a variety of sources to make an informed decision.

I've been driving by this restaurant on I-5 for years and decided to give it a try. Upon entry, I noticed it was at 80% full. We were seated after a couple of minutes, and menus were provided along with waters and teas. We ordered Mongolian beef combo #9 and almond chicken combo #7 along with hot and sour and egg flower soups. Wine was ordered. Soups arrived after 5 minutes. 10 minutes later, dinner was served. The wine was forgotten, and it took a while to get the waitresses' attention to serve the wine. We had finished our dinner and waited another 10 minutes for the check. The floor in the restaurant is dirty. There are signs of roof leaks, and the drywall is buckling. The bathroom floor was dirty, ventilation dirty, and there were no paper towels to dry my hands. The pricing is above market. The portions were generous, but sauces were lacking in flavor. Parking is limited.
Got the combination B for 2 people 20 dollars a person. and on my gosh it’s so much food! Had plenty of leftovers. Service was fast and employees were so friendly. Parking is limited. Food was good, we got the sesame beef and orange chicken with the sauce on the side and it was nice and crispy! The only thing I didn’t think was the egg roll which has shrimp in it, not a favorite of mine. But I loved the egg flour soup and pork fried rice . Definitely will come back.
So much good food!!! This pic is what is LEFTOVER of sesame tofu after I had a generous serving. You seriously get 3-4 meals out of every entree. My family and I live in southeast Vancouver and make the ~40 minute drive several times a year to eat here. Everything we’ve tried has been delicious and the portions are ginormous. We never have to wait to be seated and the food arrives quickly and super hot. The complimentary green tea is a charming touch. Overall, this place is totally worth stopping by.
Called while near the place to find the exact location and the woman on the line was kind of snippy but we found it and entered. Wasn't sure if we should wait for a table or not but we're seated shortly. It's a paper menu with a lot of items. The prices are pretty steep. We ordered 4 entrées and soup thinking the portions were on the small side. But omg! The portions are huge! The food tastes awesome, the service was decent and the server was friendly. We live an hour & a half away but this just might be our new weekend getaway.
We stopped in on a rainy Sunday evening. This place is so busy, order's carried out, people coming and going. My first choice was closed, so I brought my sister to the Lucky Dragon. The staff are so attentive. They get you seated right away, menus, and tea soon after. We decided on the family style dinner. The BBQ pork is delicious, hot and sour soup is very flavorful. The spring roll is huge, the breading was thick and greasy, we cut it in half and ate the middle, it was just ok. The fried shrimp is very greasy as well, we just picked the breading off and ate the shrimp. Fried rice is well made and fresh. Kung pao shrimp is very delicious, generous on the shrimp, flavorful, very well made. The General tso's chicken was prepared in a way I have never had it before. Huge pieces of chicken deep fried with a different sauce on it. It was so greasy and unappealing. I tried picking the breading off, it stuck to it in a weird way. I've only eaten here less than 5 times in the 20 years I've lived in this area. Definitely will not be back, just not the kind of food for my taste. I apologize for posting pictures of eaten food. I always prefer a fresh photo.
